11 Hours on Japan’s Cheapest Business Class Seat | ZipAir Los Angeles 🇺🇸 to Tokyo 🇯🇵

Hello, today we ride ZipAir, Japan’s LCC, on their full-flat business class seat from Los Angeles to Tokyo. Please enjoy the trip! Hello from Los Angeles International Airport. Today, we’re flying from Los Angeles to Tokyo on Zipair, a subsidiary of Japan Airlines. It is one of the cheapest full-flat business class seats available on the market right now, especially with the rise in airline ticket prices. Here is the route for the day. The ticket prices were ¥156,000/$1,000 for a one-way flight, much, much cheaper than your standard airline tickets in business class. ZipAir flights are expanding their routes year by year. This year, they released their longest flight, from Tokyo to Houston. Please, I want to go to Europe from Japan for cheap. I hope the experience on the airplane is not too different from your standard airline. Let’s check in to my flight. Even for “Full flat” passengers, there is a 7 kg carry-on limit. I paid about $38 extra for a 15 kg carry-on. I didn’t eat breakfast, so this is a great place to rest. Business class usually includes lounge access, but Zipair’s doesn’t. So I entered the lounge by presenting my credit card. Hooray for my credit card. It’s time to head to the departure gate. ZipAir uses the older 787-8 fleet with 290 seats, 18 full-flat seats and 272 standard seats. We made it on time. Let’s get going. I believe this is my first time flying Japanese LCC. exciting. My seat is 3A. The full-flat seats are in a 1-2-1 configuration. Every seat gets direct aisle access. Pretty nice, considering there are still many airlines with a 2-2-2 long-haul business class seat. The standard seats are in a 3-3-3 configuration. Looks pretty nice with the black leather-like seats. There is no champagne service, so I’m going to drink invisible champagne. Hmm. Very good champagne. ? I thought the black thing was a display, but it’s not. But look. Free Wi-Fi. What? Free Wi-Fi on a budget airline. Unprecedented. I’ve heard rumors that it’s fast enough to stream videos. I have to check it out later to see if that’s true. Because there is no monitor, the cabin crew will do the emergency review manually. On long international flights, it’s a rare sight to see. Departing Los Angeles. I don’t think I’ve ever headed into the city, even though I’ve visited LA like three times. Maybe next time. Is that the famous beach? I don’t know. Goodbye, Los Angeles. connected. Let’s check it out. Oh my. I can actually watch videos. Free Wi-Fi. Why can’t other airlines follow suit? Unlike regular business class seats, you get no amenities. Like literally nothing but the seat. However, with the power of money, you can get amenities. I think the price was like ¥2,500. Is it worth it? Let’s check it out. You get slippers. A nice, thick eye mask. Earplugs. ? Even comes with a neck pillow. Wow, what is this? Are modern neck pillows all like this? I thought you had to blow air into a tube. Technology. And a quilt. Feels pretty nice in hand. Everything in this bag can be brought back home. I think it’s worth the ¥2,500. Now, the moment you’ve all been waiting for. The full-flat seat review. The seats use faux leather, which I despise with a passion. But it does make up for itself as it transforms into a fully flat bed, about 188 cm (6’2″) long when fully extended. Yay. I’m going to get a bit of rest to test out the bed. I’m going to make the best bedding possible using the amenities I bought. Not bad at all. The first thing you notice is that there is no monitor. Might be the only full-flat seat without a monitor. (Source is me, so… unreliable.) Other than that, there’s a futuristic seat control. You can adjust the recline and footrest using electric controls to switch between upright, relaxed, and flat modes. The tray table folds out like origami from the side console. There are tiny compartments to store your belongings like phones, shoes, and more. Each seat includes a universal power outlet and a USB-A charging port. Good news. It’s not like there isn’t any food on board. I reserved a meal before my flight. Here is that hot meal now. There were three hot meal options, and I chose this ravioli. Though airline food in Asia is known for its high standards, it’s not the best food you can eat compared to what’s on land. And thus, Hawaii was born. So it’s nice to have optional meals like this available for those who want to eat during the flight. The food keeps slipping away for some reason. The tray is skating on the table. Improvise. Adapt. Overcome. Pretty good and pretty cheap for someone flying out of Los Angeles. Thanks for the food. There are about nine hours left on the flight. Let’s check the restroom. As expected, there’s no toothbrush or any other amenities in the restroom. Like JAL, there is a bidet! Good news! The cabin has dimmed. I’m going to rest now. Good night, people. Meanwhile, in the economy seat… Someone is quickly buying snacks and drinks. Someone is snacking. A Coke and Pringles. I’ve heard there’s also a shop where you can purchase food and drinks via Wi-Fi. I’ll test it out when I wake up. Ok, good morning. About a one-hour nap. I scanned the QR code and got access to the in-flight shop. This is the revolutionary feature on the airplane. What do we have here? Snacks… Drinks… Oh, there’s even ramen. Alcohol… Ice cream… There’s even the ravioli that I ate. The prices aren’t too expensive when you consider it’s served on an airplane. ¥400 for alcohol. ¥300 for instant noodles. ¥200 for a snack. I’ll buy water because, why not? My food’s here. It’s been a while since I had noodles. It smells so GOOD. Hip hip hooray. Tastes good. It’s worth crying over. Now going to eat this children’s snack. This snack has been in production since the 1930s. It’s one of Japan’s historic snacks. Throughout time, the poster child has changed, and this is the 5th generation. The original kid looked pretty sinister. Nice source of vitamins as well. Good food. About halfway through the flight. I checked their goods section in the shop. Toiletries… Blankets… Even selling shorts, for some reason. Having no TV doesn’t mean there’s no in-flight entertainment. There are movies and shows that you can watch. Because of the free Wi-Fi on board, there’s actually more entertainment than on conventional flights. I can listen to Spotify as well (yay, I guess?) For some reason, I connected my Nintendo Switch and… Look. Looks like I can order food and watch movies. Lol. However, Wi‑Fi can suddenly drop out anytime, anywhere for no apparent reason. Look, my ravioli went out of stock. Hope they enjoy the meal. About an hour left on the flight. That big bulge. Even on a cloudy day… Yes, that’s right. It is Mount Fuji. What the heck!! Japan’s tallest structure can also be seen from here. What a view. What a view. A plane is passing through. I’m getting lucky today. What is going on? Ok, ok, why is the plane tilting this much? Maybe it’s going to be an unlucky day. Oh no, please no. *Sigh of relief.* We’re safe. Another happy landing. We’ve made it to Narita International Airport. It’s been some time since I arrived internationally from this airport. Thanks ZIPAIR for the safe trip! Hey, I’m home. Yes, I am back in Japan. Narita is farther away from the city compared to Haneda. No worries, though. I will use the Narita Express, which links Narita Airport with stations, like Tokyo Station, Shinjuku Station, and more. It’s the Tokyo Skytree we saw earlier in the sky. What a great flight experience. I didn’t expect that not being served anything without my will would feel so carefree. It was an enjoyable flight for both myself and my wallet. And just like that, we made it back to Tokyo. Thanks for watching. Have a nice day!

  1. اكثر شي يزعجني بس تنتقد اكل و اسكت و اكيد اكل الطيران مو مثل اكل المدينة اذا انتة تاكل الاخضر و اليابس مو معدة خباطة

  2. I like the seat but, not even economy class food that you have to pay for. The continued enshittification of commercial flying. I hope they go bankrupt. Based on youtube coverage, why is it only US routes that have such bad standards, I don't do US routes but, fly regularly around the world and on most economy/premium economy you get treated better than this elsewhere particularly in Asia and pretty cheap. The seat is nice but, it's not worth it too me, Emirates economy with extra legroom option is pretty good for me as a tall and wide person.

  3. 食べ物は事前に購入して持ち込み出来れば良いと思いますね。スマホで暇つぶしできるし。フルフラット長時間は嬉しい。

  4. This was a very nice flight. Thanks for letting us fly with you and see what can be purchased. Maybe next time you will get to see LA. Or if you fly to San Diego I can give you tips on where to go. Safe travels.

  5. "And thus, Hawaii was born." Brilliant!😀 Separately, just for the uninformed like me, ZipAir is one of the three Low Cost Carriers (LCC) that are wholly owned subsidiaries of the JAL Group.

  6. The title is misleading. There's no biz class on ZipAir, and they make no efforts to market it as such.

  7. Great flight. It's great you try this airline. Bit weird to see modern Business Class seat without IFE, but yeah at least you got WiFi access.

  8. Thank you for this. I’m flying ZipAir next month and they’re new to me. Very good video.

  9. No TV monitor, I wouldn't be able to do it. I kept thinking of all the extras I would need to have in my tote bag to try and be as comfortable as what I'm use to when flying. I actually felt some anxiety watching this flight because of what I'm use to when I travel. I don't think I could do this one. Not sure, but it definitely gave me anxiety feels. 😥😆 It's like a teasing flight in my head and eyes. Business, yet not like business LOL Thank you for taking one for the team 🤣😂 Looking forward to your extra long video next.

  10. Been flying this full-flat seats for several times. On our last flight, they allowed 2 obnoxious persons from economy seats to upgrade after the plane took off. It was the worse experience of my life and the flight attendants didn't do anything. The couple were talking loud and drinking. Then they started fighting verbally and louder the whole flight. Everybody was giving them the looks but they didn't care. My husband and I told ourselves to look for other options next time. What we were upset most was the flight attendants didn't ask them to lower their voices or anything. I had my earphones on and could still hear them fighting for the whole flight.

  11. This basic business seats are the way of the future, but a pillow and blanket would be nice. I would miss lounge access as I prefer to eat in the lounge rather than up in the air.

  12. Fantastic video, thanks! It's a shame no long haul European airlines are looking at this idea. For a night flight, this would be perfect for an economy passenger.

  13. Invisible champagne! Maybe next try the invisible beer? 👀

Also, that amenities bag is amazing! Quality items, all to take home!

  14. I don't understand your hatred for faux leather. Why did an animal have to die for it if the end result is the same, except for the smell?

  15. What an interesting idea – it's like economy service but with a lie-flat seat. Seems like it would be well worth it to me.

  16. Incredible deal — 11 hours in biz class for such a low fare? 😲✈ Japan just jumped to the top of my bucket list!

I run a travel channel focused on uncovering hidden gems and budget-friendly adventures around the world. If you’re into insider tips and off-the-beaten-path spots, come say hi! 🌏🎥

  17. Very nice Solo Solo Travel! A budget friendly option for destination Japan. Thank you always for a great video!!

  18. Impressive! You’ve shown how even the most budget-friendly business class can deliver a refined travel experience. Great insight for modern nomads with discerning tastes! 🥂✈️
