【Akakura Kanko Hotel】 Luxury Hotel in the Sky – Premium Wing P2 room
Hello! Today, let’s go to Akakura Kanko Hotel, a popular hotel famous for its spectacular sea of clouds. This classic hotel was founded in 1937 by Okura Kishichiro. Same as Imperial Hotel, Hotel Okura, Kawana Hotel, and Kamikochi Imperial Hotel A mountain resort built on the slopes of Mt. Myoko at an altitude of 1,000m It was mid-April, there was still snow on the ground. The white exterior with a red roof is cute, and it has an overseas atmosphere. Currently, the hotel consists of 3 buildings: main building (built in 1996), SPA & SUITE building (built in 2009), Premium building (built in 2016). Enter through the main building and check in. We’re staying in a room in Premium building, so we go further in. From here is SPA & SUITE building. A magnificent view unfolds before us! The famous Aqua Terrace Head to a room in Premium building at the back The room type is the open-air hot spring terrace twin P2 (Lake Nojiri side), and it is on 2F The room size is 65 m2 Take off your shoes at the entrance The interior has a chic color scheme and a high-quality feel. I thought about Frank Lloyd Wright. He designed Imperial Hotel previously. The ceiling is roof-shaped, and it’s similar to the rooms at the Kamikochi Imperial Hotel. There are two TVs, one in the living room and one by the bed. The bed is Simmons. There’s a folded paper crane by the pillow. I thought the pillow and tree motifs were reminiscent of Frank Lloyd Wright. The gas fireplace is also a nice touch. Let’s go out to the terrace. Amazing view!! The spacious terrace is equipped with a sofa, a table, an open-air hot spring bath, a water basin, Beyond that, there is a magnificent view that is unobstructed! There are rooms facing Lake Nojiri and Mt. Myoko, The Lake Nojiri side is recommended for the best view. A chic yet luxurious bathroom The closet is here too Shower room We can go out to the open-air hot spring bath on the terrace The water is a free-flowing spring from the source of Akakura Onsen, which gushes out from the middle of Mt. Myoko The spring contains sulfate and bicarbonate spring ingredients, which are said to be especially effective for cuts and for beautifying the skin. Let’s take a look at the amenities.

but when we went, we couldn’t go out. You can see bread being made across from the cafe. The cafe serves drinks, snacks, sweets, etc. I ordered a Mont Blanc. The view was great and it felt good. It was delicious. Next, let’s take a look around the hotel. In the shop next to the cafe, there are hotel-made bread and sweets, original tableware, and more. The lobby where drinks were served had a classical atmosphere. The main building was once destroyed by fire and rebuilt in 1966. It seems to have retained the atmosphere from when it was first built. Open for dinner and breakfast. Inside, there is a sushi counter called “Tomi Sushi Kura” with only six seats. We arrived at the SPA & SUITE building. The Aqua Terrace has a spectacular view! This water is said to be spring water from Mt. Myoko. On the right, there is the Sky Cable and a ski resort. There is also a golf course. SPA&SUITE building and Premium building have a modern atmosphere. Aqua Bar with a spectacular view of the Aqua Terrace. Floating to the left of the Aqua Terrace is Aqua Dining. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Amazing view from inside! I think this is the restaurant with the best view. There is also a large hot spring bath with an open-air bath and sauna. Just like the rooms, the water is straight from the source of Akakura Onsen. Spectacular view is seen at the open-air bath. The main building also has a family bath (private hot spring bath), which can be used for free if it is available. There is no open-air bath, and no view. “Heavenly View Earth Spa” won

When certain conditions are met, sea of clouds appears. The best seasons for sea of clouds are
June to mid-July and late October to early December. This time, it was mid-April, so it was off-season. we didn’t expect to see the sea of clouds I was so surprised and moved! I didn’t know something like this could happen! I could look at the amazing view from the room above the clouds forever. The sea of clouds came out so much after that it turned completely white. Let’s have a welcome drink at Aqua Bar now As we were heading to restaurant for dinner, Beyond the illuminated Aqua Terrace, the sea of clouds spread out again! It really looked like the ocean. The moonlit view was a fantastic sight! We want to keep looking, but it’s dinner time, let’s go. We have dinner at the French restaurant “Sorbiers” in Main building. If you’re having dinner at the hotel,
it’s better booking a room with a plan that includes dinner. The restaurant has a classic atmosphere. We booked the basic course menu,but we could change the menu on the day with additional cost. I had the basic dinner, and my husband had the special dinner White asparagus blancmange with Maltaise sauce White asparagus and blancmange, topped with mimolette and dried mullet roe powder on top of an orange-flavored sauce. Clam beignets with seaweed and herb sauce The sauce is based on clam extract There are three types of bread. There is also a mushroom-shaped bread, which was made in the bakery earlier. Burdock root potage. Hotel original dishes are also used in the restaurant. My husband had the legendary beef consommé soup Today’s fish dish for my husband’s course was Spanish mackerel For the main dish, I had a platter of fresh fish from the Sea of Japan with a sauce of dried tomatoes and olives Fishes were red sea bream and rockfish My husband’s main course was pan-fried Japanese black beef filet with porcini mushroom sauce Strawberry-flavored crème d’ange with pistachio ice cream for dessert Petit fours Herbal tea for drink. It was good authentic French course in nice atmosphere. Let’s take hot spring bath and sleep. Good night Good morning The weather forecast was bad today, so we didn’t expect the sunrise, Even on a cloudy day, the scenery is magnificent and beautiful. The hot springs with the most amazing views are the best♪ We had Japanese and Western buffet at “Shirakaba” for breakfast. Western set meal at Aqua Dining was also available. The weather was bad that we might not be able to enjoy the view, so we chose this place with a wide selection of food. Western food Japanese food Rice accompaniments Salad corner Hotel-made bread. There are about 10 varieties. Japanese-style side dishes such as grilled fish Steamed vegetables with bagna cauda sauce Cheese, ham, etc. Fruit The legendary French toast Sparkling wine Juice, milk and cereal. We had a wide variety of food. The picture of Mt. Myoko is cute. Thank you for the meal. After breakfast, it started raining and the wind started to pick up. The wind got stronger, and by the end, it was so strong that the hair of people taking commemorative photos was standing on end! It was so lucky to see such a spectacular view on the first day! Next time I go, I’d like to have dinner and breakfast at Aqua Dining and watch the sunrise!
