OSAKA — A man sustained minor injuries after another man sprayed a foreign substance in his face at JR Osaka Station during the evening rush hour on July 25.
An attendant at JR Osaka Station in Osaka’s Kita Ward called emergency services at around 6:15 p.m., reporting a “gassy odor” near the Sakurabashi exit.
According to the Sonezaki Police Station, a male passenger was sprayed in the face by a man appearing to be in his 30s near the Sakurabashi exit. The suspect fled the scene.
It is believed that the two individuals had gotten into a dispute on the train, and the police are investigating the details.
West Japan Railway Co. said entry restrictions were imposed at some ticket gates for about 50 minutes after the incident. Although Osaka Municipal Fire Department personnel responded to the scene following the report, no toxic gases were detected.
The incident occurred during the evening rush hour, and many passengers crowded in front of the ticket gates inside the station.
