This is Why Everyone LOVES Tokyo 🇯🇵 4 Days in Tokyo

This insane city is Tokyo 東京. Call it the ultimate adult playground. The city that’s on everyone’s bucket list. It’s like if a theme park
and an AI robot had a baby, and then we filled that baby
with the best food in the world. That’s about as close as we
can get to describing the city. We couldn’t wait to dive into the chaos, No
plans, no viral checklists, no top 10 must-sees, just explore on our own terms
and see what Tokyo throws at us. Tokyo! Tokyo! We have landed in Tokyo and we are so excited
to explore this weird, wonderful, insane city. And we are starting off with probably one of the
most touristic areas, Harajuku. Why not? Because we’re tourists and we want to be tourists.
But it is like a trillion degrees today, guys. It is like a heat wave going on in Tokyo.
Okay, so we’re starting off in Takashita Street in the Harajuku district, which is like the most
insane popular crazy street. It’s like all of that um cutesy like Anime fashion and stuff
like that, which I absolutely love. And it’s insanely busy here. There should be some good food around.
And I do have a spot saved. So that’s where we’re heading towards. But first,
we got to take in Takashita Street. That’s so you guys feel for me. It’s really
expensive to feed this guy. You have no idea. Let’s go. There’s a pig cafe. Little baby pigs
everywhere. Oh my god, Max. Look how cute it is. Oh my god, look at these little bugs. Oh, how
cool is this? I feel like I’ve just entered like a cartoon world and you get to play in it,
but it’s just a store in Harajuku. [Music] It still just makes me happy. It’s like
endorphins. The moment you walk in, everything is colorful. Everything is bright. I
want to buy so many things to take home with me, but we’re not going home, so
that’s not going to happen. [Music] Are there any errors in the
information you entered? Please go to the seat indicated by the
number. It even Oh my gosh, they’re so sharp. This is perfect. Since I’ve been in Japan,
we have had some amazingly fresh sashimi, which honestly was 10 out of 10. And this
is our first like sushi train style sushi, which I’m very excited for. So, they have this
game here. So every five plates that you eat, you like get to win one of these balls that are up the
top here. And if you win a ball, you have a chance of then winning a prize. So I think it’s just like
their way of encouraging you to eat more. Max eats a lot. So I feel like we’re definitely going to
get at least two chances. Oh my gosh. So there’s two belts. One is like choose what you like and
the other belt is like the one you order to come to you. So we push push it and then take it.
The first one. Oh. Oh my god. It’s coming. Look. Oh, it’s so cool. I got my sushi. [Music]
This plate was only 150 yen. Salmon. No. What is this one? That might be tuna.
That looks like tuna. You want it? I got to be careful cuz it’s so easy to order in
this thing. Oh my gosh, I’m so happy you guys. So, you don’t have to be like, is it? Yes. So much stuff just arrived. Mama
mia. Wow. Whoa. [Applause] [Music] So, how many plates did we end up
with? We exceeded seven, so 12. So, we get two chances to win a prize, I guess.
All righty. Oh, something happened again. Oh, nothing happened. I don’t think we won. No
price. I’m going to eat some more, guys. All right, Kira Sushi was amazing. 10 out
of 10. Definitely recommend trying it out. Was super affordable. We had like 12 plates
and it only came to $1,820 yen, which is less than 20 Australian. Now, because we’re in Haruku,
we’re right next to a shady park, Yoy Yogi Park. Inside Yoyo Yogi Park is a famous shrine called
the Maji Shrine. But Miji was actually an emperor. You might have heard of the Ido period in Japan.
There was a Miji period which came after the Ido period. So, we’re going to go check that out
now. We need the park because we need the shade. We’re going to maybe try to grab a nice coffee,
little bit of shade, and check out a cool shrine. change. So, we went to Lawson’s to grab some
iced coffee. And we asked the server, can we have two large iced coffees? And
he said, “No, you can have small, medium, or mega.” So, we got mega. It’s mega
hot. So, we got mega cups. And they’re massive. We definitely needed to cool down and
coming into the park. It is a lot cooler. So, highly recommend if you’re visiting Tokyo in
summer that you come here just to in the heat of the day, chill out for a minute. Like 6 or
7° cooler here. Yeah, it’s so much cooler. So, we’re going to go for a wander, cool down,
have our coffees, and make our way towards me. That was really nice. So this temple actually
gives you this little purification etiquette. So whenever you enter a temple in Japan, there’s
actually something to wash yourself with. And I’m depending on the shrine as to what you’re supposed
to do, but I think generally you’re supposed to wash your hands. But this one is wash your hands,
rinse your mouth out, and then wash your hands again. It’s nice that they give you that little
etiquette there because most people, unless you have a guy with you, wouldn’t know what to do. We
also learned that the Tory gates here um you’re actually not supposed to just walk through them.
You’re supposed to bow before you walk through them and you’re also supposed to walk to the side
of them because the center is meant to be reserved for the dietes. So that was something that we
didn’t know when we first arrived in Japan and we definitely were not following etiquette. Now
that we know, you know, we can do better. [Music] What? She rings on the emotion for
you guys. Is that true? I was like, “What happened? What happened?” That’s so cool.
It’s beautiful. I know. But it’s really pretty, guys. Please like this video and say how amazing
she is to entertain you guys cuz she’s so good at making sure the emotions are 10xed for you
so you can be portrayed through the video. That makes me sound like I’m faking it. No, no,
no, no. You’re enthusiastic about it. I love it. It’s a compliment. This the thing is is that
I get enthusiastic about things, but grandpa over here who’s been alive for a million years,
apparently seen everything, is never excited about anything. So we’re like opposite people.
We balance each other out. One of us has to bring some excitement. But this is a beautiful
This is very pretty. So gorgeous. Like the look at the detailing over here. Look at the the
stacks of wood. Oh, wait. Is this the one? Oh, this is this the shrine that was built with no
nail. I have a feeling, and I could be wrong, so Max will correct me if I am, but this
Miji shrine was completely built without nails. So the way that they like stacked
the wood and like connected it together was like Tetris or something. But
it’s very beautiful here. [Music] If you want to get a real like heartwarming
moment, come over to this area where they have all of these wooden pls that people have
purchased and written their wishes on. Oh my gosh, they’re so sweet. If you want to like get
a bit tearary and feel really grateful, this will do it for you. Honestly,
this will make you feel so good about yourself or about other people
like humankind in general. [Music] Okay, so as you enter or in our case exit Maji
Shrine, we walk past all these super cool sake containers, barrels, sake barrels is what they’re
called, which I thought they were lanterns. I thought they were lanterns even though I told
him they’re sake barrels. But these have all been every single year a new one is offered to
the shrine. So these are every single year one more is added. I guess the designs on them are
so nice. So we’ve made our way to this adorable little street. We’re kind of I guess halfway
between Harajuku and Shibuya. We’re just heading towards Shabuya now. And it’s like I guess Max
just described it perfectly like a little outdoor shopping mall. But it’s so nice because all of
a sudden, just like when we were in the park, it feels like we’re not in the big city anymore
because all the buildings in this street are only a couple stories high. It’s just really like a
really nice little street to walk down. So, if you’re heading from Harajuku to Subuya, definitely
walk and take this street because it’s just really cool. Is that it? Is that it? Is that it? I think
that’s it. I think that’s it. E, that’s it. Cuz we’re about to go to a very busy section. I think
we all know what we’re talking about. potentially the busiest in the world. Wait, I just want to
see it. You want to watch it? Yeah. Oh my god. How funny that we come to a crossing to
look at it. And that’s like a mustd do, mustsea tourist thing. Some people are on a
mission to cross it. Must be so annoying for locals who actually live in this area and they’re
like, I actually just need to get to the other side of the road. This is just the most intense
Yeah. feast for the eyes. It’s everywhere you look. And considering where we were in Japan just
two weeks ago and to this Japan is really cool, guys. You really get a lot of everything.
Yeah. Anyway, Grandpa Max needs a bit of a rest. Max needs a beer. A few moments later.
Thank you. Bye-bye. All right. Now it is much better out there. But now it is time for
me to whip Max’s butt at Mario. Let’s go. Yay. Dragon Ball Super Divers.
What is this? Oh yes. Oh my god. Oh my god. There’s like Luigi Ghostbusters. Yeah. All right, things are about to get serious now. Oh my god, I keep getting hit by a
so hard to see. No, you wrecked me. What am I? Which one am I? Oh my god. I
missed every single one of them. Oh no. Oh my god. Oh my god. That was so hard. How was that easy? I the anticipation. Oh my gosh. Oh, come on. Like, it literally hasn’t. Why does
it do that? It just keeps you. I hate it. [Music] Even though normally we hate crowded city
places, there’s something about Tokyo where it’s like it’s okay here. Nowhere else in the
world, but here it’s okay. Yeah. All right, we’ve made it to Nano Broadway, which is
actually very close to accommodation. So, we’re paying $100 Australian dollars
per night to stay in Tokyo. And we’re just one station outside of Shinjuku in the
neighborhood of Nano. It is still popping off in this neighborhood as you can see. And
last night when we walked down this alley to find our accommodation, I spied this
really good looking ramen restaurant. So, we’re going to try and remember where it was
and see if we can get some ramen for dinner. [Music] Oh, that’s some operations. Love it. Okay, that’s a hot bowl. Hot. [Music] That is a
solid portion, guys. That is the biggest bowl of ramen we’ve had the whole time
we’ve been here. Holy duly. This is a miso based ramen. So far, my favorite
has been the tonkatu ramen. So, Oh, that’s pretty good. Oh, this might be the best
miso one we’ve had. And I got an extra egg. So, now I’ve got like two eggs in there. The
lady was so cute. She came off and she said, “This one already has egg.” And I’m like, I
know. He just wants extra cuz we really love the eggs that come with the ramen. They’re
so yummy. Perfectly every single time. like I don’t know like four, five, six minutes
maybe. They they cooked but not cooked. It’s [Music] a pink kind of day. We’ve come to an area
that is just again sensory overload. There’s so much going on here. Those two statue have a
meaning. This is Fujin and this is Ryen. And this is the I don’t know which one’s which. I’m
sorry. One’s the wind god and one’s the thunder god. And they protect the entrance. And this
lantern, give a guess as to how much it weighs. Two tons. 700 kg. Come down. Okay. It’s not
a rhinoceros. 700. That’s like as much as we as your luggage. You mean our luggage? Cuz we
literally share a luggage. We’re trying to make our way to Senoji Temple, which is supposedly
the oldest temple here in Tokyo. So this shops actually Yeah. Tell me has been some some of
them have been the same generation for 100 years. Yeah. That’s so nice. So if you buy here, you
really are buying local. Some of them are really You’re supporting local family, you guys. Maybe
they’ll be like a yummy little snack. [Music] Oh, this one’s 400. Oh, I’m going to get one. Okay.
You have to. I have to. I have to. I have to little snack. So, dauku, if you’ve never seen
it before, my mouth is watering, is a mochi, and then inside they usually have something.
So, it’s like mochi filled with things. Uh, this one is fresh strawberry, which is the epitome
of dauku in my opinion. And then also red bean paste, which is again is like high up there.
Sometimes you can get them with like chocolate, which is yummy, but it’s not like traditional.
It’s so good. There’s so much red bean paste in this one. That’s That’s a meal right there.
This This is going to keep me good till lunch. [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] So,
I think if you want like a peaceful temple moment, then I would say try to come as early in
the morning as possible. But honestly, like that’s just Japan for you. It is
crowded. That’s how Japan is. So if you once you accept the crowds and embrace them, I
mean that’s it’s not even that big of a deal. [Music] So, we’ve made it to the Shinjuku train station,
which is the largest train station in Tokyo, or like the busiest. I don’t know if it’s the largest
or the busiest or maybe both. Oh, the exit’s right there. Yeah, honestly, that was really easy.
Everyone makes a big deal about Shinjuku Station and like how big and crazy and scary it is, but
I feel like it was really easy. Yeah. Anyway, we’re going to start today with some ramen. We’re
actually heading towards I think a pretty popular spot that we’ve already been to, but hey, when
you know something’s good, you go back. [Music] So, you have to choose your preference and they make it to exactly how you like
it, which is amazing. [Music] That was cute. He gave us like a bow. Smells amazing. So, itchan ramen is really
popular for a couple of reasons. I think it’s pretty affordable. Like this bowl of ramen
is about a thousand yen. Um, number two is they give you these little individual booths to eat in
so that you can kind of like come eat by yourself and be solitudal in a way. And then thirdly,
it’s tonkatu ramen, which so far of all the ramen we’ve eaten in Japan, tonkatu has been my
favorite ramen. So much. Oh my god, it’s so good. I don’t know how they do that broth.
So, tonkatsu is like a pork, right? So, it’s like a pork broth. Um, but somehow they make
it so creamy. The one that we had the other night was really good. And the one we waited 2 hours for
in Kyoto was really good. But we had this one only once before and we had it at the original Ichiran
store in Fukuroka. So, if you go to Fukuoka, definitely head to the OG Ichiram store.
Lunch was delicious. Ichan 10. Definitely go there. But we’ve come to the mall because
apparently I found on this real on Instagram that you can get really cheap prescription
glasses. I don’t have really bad eyesight, so I haven’t really been a problem, but
I know I am supposed to be using them, especially when on my laptop. So,
we’re going to see how affordable they are. Is it possible to get an eye exam and
glasses? Okay, cool. Eye exam is free. Okay. Can you see it? Yeah. That was such an interesting
process cuz it was mostly done like through a digital machine that they could change to be
English. It’s a pretty easy process, which is pretty cool. And I don’t know if this is legit,
but there’s a sign over there that says you can get your glasses in 1 hour. So, after we’ve done
our exam, choose our frame and then come back in an hour and we just have glasses, which is wildly
efficient. Not sure what’s going on with Max, but I think they’re trying to make him buy glasses
to wear all the time, which he definitely does not want to do. All right, so now we have to
choose our frames, which I think is like the hardest part. I think these ones are I don’t
know. Do they suit me? Tell me in the comments. Definitely not these ones. I’m not sure about
these ones. Oh, so cute. Look. Is it like a little tray to compare? All right. This is the
choice. These ones. Cute. They got a cute little design down the side. Or these ones. What do
you think? We get glasses. Look how nerdy we look. I think I’m regretting my choice because
Max said that he really liked them and I just like went with his opinion. But now I think that
I look like an 80-year-old grandma. I look like a doctor. You look smarter and I look older.
Anyway, we got glasses. They were so affordable and so dang quick. Like we literally got an eye
test today, chose a frame, and an hour later our glasses were ready. Like it is the most efficient
thing I’ve ever done in my life. We ended up they were 14,000 yen for two pairs. And then we went
upstairs and got a tax refund of 1,075 yen. So, in total, we paid $12,925 yen, which comes to like
62 Australian per glass, which is insane. Anyway, we have one last thing that we want to do
in Tokyo before we go. So, let’s go do that. [Music] We made it. One of those little iconic thing
that when you see Tokyo, think of Tokyo, you see this. It’s an emoji. Is it? Yeah.
Tokyo Tower. We’re actually standing on like a specific photo spot where they’ve
set up a camera stand for you. Like it’s a permanent fixture for people to take photos. Go
Japan. There’s a line. So, go Japan. I love you, Japan. You’re amazing. But we’re going to get
out of the line now cuz people are waiting. It’s funny that Tokyo Tower has become a symbol.
But this has. And I guess it was modeled after the Eiffel Tower. And you can kind of see that
it looks very similar, but it’s actually taller than the Eiffel Tower. It’s 333 m tall, but when
you’re standing in the legs like we are right now, it’s definitely not bigger because when
you stand in the legs of the Eiffel Tower, like they’re massive. Like they just they take up
so much space. And I feel like this one doesn’t take up as much space, but they also have this
weird building underneath it which maybe distorts our sense of space a little bit. What’s crazy
it is is it was the tallest tower in the whole of Japan until 2012. In the world. It was actually
the tallest tower in the world when it was built. We’ll have to fact check this. I will. Well,
beautiful people, this is the end of our time sadly in Tokyo. We obviously didn’t do all the
crazy cool things that you may think of of like the top five things to do in Tokyo. We did as many
cool thing as we think you maybe should do if it’s your first time like it was for me. I absolutely
loved it. I love the vibe. I love the people. I was saying to Jacine like the the fashion in terms
of people’s quirkiness is absolutely amazing. The people are super kind. But if you haven’t seen any
of our other video, we were in Kyoto before. So if you want to see a sort of same vibe, a bit more
organized maybe in Kyoto, click here. Otherwise, if you are interested in seeing maybe what I
would say a hidden gem, we went to Fukuoka, click here. And if you like our faces, especially
mine, click here. You’ll subscribe to our channel. It’s absolutely free. So, we’ll see you
next time. Thank you for watching. Bye.

  1. Tonkotsu is pork broth.
Tonkatsu is a deep fried pork cutlet dish. Super tasty and is popular as ramen. Hope you had a chance to try other amazing Japanese food!😊☀️

  2. Thanks guys💃🕺 love your channel! I know you always watch your pennies, But I heard Tokyo is the most expensed city in the world!🗼 Do you agree? The food looked great. I heard some westerners do stupid things and act up so the Japanese don't like the western tourists? You are always very nice tourists! Stay safe and keep being good tourists! cheers🍺🍺🍺😎

  3. I was lucky to work in Tokyo during the Tokyo Olympics in the summer of 2021. As Japan was under Covid emergency conditions, no tourists could get in. I was able to ride my bicycle everywhere around old Tokyo. There was no traffic due to COVID stay at home restrictions plus Olympics restrictions. It was so great to experience a not crowded Tokyo even during the middle of the day. Temples were deserted, restaurants were closed except a few. There is so much variety in Japan.

  4. Japanese glasses are cheap, fast and high quality, so anyone who comes to Japan as a tourist should definitely buy some👓💲😊

  5. 6:45 It's a purification fountain where you wash your hands and rinse your mouth before heading to a hall.
Temples DO NOT HAVE torii gates, which are characteristic of Shinto shrines.

  6. Teriyaki, and sushi, looks so good, the food looked so great. 🇯🇵🍲
    Loved your channel. 👍🇯🇵
More videos to come in tokyo, 👍🇯🇵. Stay safe, 👍 have a safe trip, guys. 👍

  7. If you go to Okutama or Hinohara Village in Tokyo, you'll find plenty of nature and even places where wasabi is grown. The glamour of the city is fun, but I'd like you to experience the countryside and other areas rich in nature.
