Thrifting at BookOff Super Bazaar Japan Seiko Watches, Citizen and Shoes
Noia. First time to see this uh kind of wrist piece. It has its intricacies and in the dial there’s something that says Japan. Good morning, good afternoon, good evening everyone. Welcome back in our channel Mad Corner here and for this episode of course we are still exploring somewhere around or near Osaka. By this time, you already know that secondhand shopping is quite of a nature to us in doing our content. You might want to give that a try because Japanese people are notoriously known for keeping their items in pristine condition and secondhand shopping is the best way for you to get the best deal out of your buck. For the lack of better term, I see Book of Super Bazaar as a cathedral of clutter or a place where you can give used items a second shot at life. And one personal take that I have about this thing is is that you don’t go to Book of Super Bazaar to find something. You go to Book of Super Bazaar to be found by something. Whether if it’s a watch that you’re seeking or Pokémon cards, whatever it is under the roof, there’s a good chance that you can find it there. Just to be more specific, we are checking the Book of Super Bazaar Amagasaki Nishikoya. Roughly an hour away from the place that we are currently staying, which is the Smile Hotel Shin Osaka. The transportation that I’m going to share to you might be different from your experience or on what are you going to experience because it will always depend on your starting point. Again, our starting point for this one is Smile Hotel Shin Osaka. We have to walk now up to Mina Mikata station and you have to ride the brown train which is the Hanky Kyoto line. Then get off at Osaka Umeda station. Then you just have to switch at Coob line but still same station Osaka Umeda. Get off at Mokunoso station. And then you have to walk for around 3 minutes only and you’re going to find the Hanky Mukonoso bus station, also known as Kita bus stop. And then after 10 bus stops, you have to get off at Sanangojutsu Daku bus stop. And then you have to walk for a bit and you will already find this Book of Super Bazaar Amagazaki Nishi Koya. For the bus stop, you have to look for this number two waiting shed because this is where the number 40 bus will start picking up passengers like us. [Music] [Applause] Total transportation cost is 680 yen only. Why are we always doing this? Simply because Book of Super Bazaar never fails to surprise us. Well, it seems promising because right off the bat there’s a signage of Apple Watch. So, I assume there will be watches inside as per usual. Manga section. By the way, I think this one has two floors. So, let’s explore the first floor. And then after we’re going to check upstairs and see what are the items available. We are seeing a lot of toys. They have here a Camaro for 6,000 yen. This is a 118 scale diecast. Mostly cars on this area. And look what we found over here. A vintage car for 19,000 yen. I’m not really sure what this is. Martini Porsche racing car for 9,000 yen. Few months ago, we received a comment in regards to music items. And here are some sample guitars over here for 5,200 yen. I think this is a bass. Yes, it’s a bass. The Yamaha bass for three 30,000 yen. At least you’re having an idea now of what are the price range. Tons of bass guitars here. Uh, the one at the far right is 10,000 yen. Second would be 9,000. The purple one, it’s at 12,000 yen. Feel free to pause the video if you’re seeing something nice. Look at this amazing Zebra. Um, I think this is a guitar. Yeah, this is an electric guitar Yamaha for 77,000 yen. And don’t even think that that’s it because this is a wallto-wall of guitars. That’s where we started. And then more over here. This is a jazz base for 52,800 yen. The second one, uh, 80,000 yen. This is a guitar. Yeah, a guitar for 55,000 yen. Electric guitars. I’m giving you a glimpse of what’s available in this book of Super Bazaar. Don’t worry, I’ll put the address on the description box down below. So, once you go here in Osaka, you can add this in your itinerary. And look at this beautiful Yamaha guitar for 53,900 yen. The comeback of Dig Cams is inevitable and they have a lot of option here. Digifilm camera for 14,000 yen. This is a Yashika. I don’t know what that is. A Fujifilm in stacks mini 8 P or PO. I am not sure. Oh, we need the Pooh. All right. 7,800 yen. Secondhand DJI Pocket 2 for 28,000. And the other one, I think, I don’t I’m not sure what that is, but it’s listed for 39,000 yen. Some smart watches over here. They also have a Fitbit. This one, I’m not sure what this one, Mob Voy Thick Watch Pro for 14,000 yen. And then this is a Nokia watch. It says there Nokia. First time to see this uh kind of wrist piece for 14,000 yen. And then on its left, another Amaze Fit. Yeah, Amaze Fit for 4,800 yen. It’s my first time to encounter this brand. A 13-inch MacBook Pro Touch Bar is available here for 59,000 yen and then down below for 76,000 yen. This is 2020 edition. It has the Touch Bar function. As you guys know, we also started our Pokémon card collection, but I’m strictly buying Gengar cards only. And we were able to scan the entire place here for cards. Unfortunately, no luck for us to purchase. But let me give you a glimpse of what is available. So these are the single cards. Um some moderns. Uh let me show you more of them. Nothing really crazy, but you can find the high-end stuff like this one, the Pikachu for 70,000 yen. This one, I’m not sure who this is, but as far as I know, this is an evolution of Eevee Umbreon, of course. But these are just card representation. So, if you’re going to purchase them, they they are going to show you the actual one. We saw a Gengar here, but we already have this. So, we’re going to pass on it. Sabrina’s Hypno for 440. Sabrina’s Hunter 540. There’s Abra Gastly Alakazam. And then another Abra for 2470 yen. Look at this Mr. Mime. And there’s an Alakazam over there for 1,400 yen. I really like this Mr. mine for 440 yen only. There’s also Jinx, Sabria’s Jinx. I but but I cannot see the price, but I would say around 400 yen. The design of this Garados here is just beautiful. Very fierce looking card for 440 yen only. But if you are feeling lucky and you want to push your luck, you can purchase this random bundle cards. This is a V for how much? 455 yen only. EX455 yen, but I’m not sure what are the cards inside. There’s a good chance that the cards inside are assorted. Not all of this will be a Varmax. I doubt. Look at this one. It has a V-Max here and then behind is a Vstar. If you have the patience and time, you can also scan all of the loose cards here or single cards for 33 yen only. And there’s a good chance that we are going to do that. Let’s now get back on our track and see if there are watches upstairs. By the way, they have shoes as well. Look at this on cloud here for 10,000 yen only, but I’m not sure with the size and if they still have a box. Funny that clothes are just hanging on the wall. All right, I’m starting to see the watches now. Let’s do this. Let’s start with the SBSA225. This is a 38 mm watch. Okay. And it is listed for 28,000 yen. This is it has a black bezel and a black dial. And since it’s from Japan or JDM, it has the kanji day feature. And then on its right side, it’s a gold. I don’t know what kind of Seikko watch is this, but it’s quite interesting. It’s my first time to encounter a wrist piece that is looking like this. And they’re letting it go for 26,000 yen. And then another Seikko, but this is a chronograph watch for 16,000 yen. It seems like the dial is an olive green. And then another chronograph on its right side. And it seems like it has a silver dial and the sub dials are white. And it’s listed for 10,000 yen only. And then another chronograph for 5,000 yen. I got caught off guard with this vintage Seikko Press for 4,000 yen. It also has a date feature at the bottom part of its dial. A more modern watch. This is a Solar Seikko for 3,000 yen only. I think this is a 26 or 28 mm that is intended for women. Moving to its right side would be a Seikko Astron for 130,000 yen. And then another Astron for 100,000 yen with a very clean looking white dial. But if you’re going to look closely with its design, it feels like it is divided into four with a certain texture inside. Citizen exceed. They have it here as well for 12,000 yen, 20,000 yen. Then a smaller watch here for women. But I would say the condition of this one is 6 out of 10 for 1,600 yen. What’s this one? An Eco Drive for women for 5,000 yen. Ah, this is an interesting watch. First time to see it for 6,000. Then an Eco Drive, of course, more of the modern design that they have for 7,000 yen, 9,000 yen. And this one, it seems like this is a collaboration watch, Japan National Team, and it has its intricacies. And in the dial, there’s something that says Japan. And for 9,000 yen only, you can bring this one home. Then more citizen. And then another one uh for 40,000 yen. This is a pure black watch. Even the wrist strap, it’s in black. Very sexy item. Okay. Tag Hoyer keeping up. This is a Tag Hoyer Seell color blue for 68,000 yen. And then on its right side, a more cleaner looking Tag Hoyer watch for 45,000 yen. It has a 200 meter feature. And of course, it has the date as well. A watch brand that we still don’t have would be the Casio G-Shock. Up until now, I haven’t purchased one. Hopefully, in the future, we can. All right. But as of now, I really wanted to know more about them. So, I’m trying my best to find time and or dedicate time in researching about their history. So, we just know what would be the best fit for us in purchasing one. For now, just feel free to pause the video if you feel like seeing or if you see something that you like. Feel free to let me know in the comment section. I like the white one, but it feels like we’re going to have a hard time maintaining it. Have a look at this radio wave control solar Seikko watch. Uh it’s a Seikko Brightes, and it is listed for 30,000 yen. As far as I can remember, we encountered a Seikko Brights back in uh Book of Super Bazaar Omeia, which is a limited edition. For this one, I’m not sure, but for 30,000 yen, not bad. Not bad. But for its condition, I would say this is 7.5 out of 10. [Music] There are watches definitely you’re going to find the designer bags. They have a coach here for 7,000 yen only. Imagine that. And then on its left, a small one for 8,000 yen. And then there is a midsize bag here that’s color maroon for 20,000 yen. I would say I’m a bit surprised with the prices because this one 18,000 yen, the one in the middle for 12,000 yen, and then the farm one on your left is at 6,000 yen only. And then down below at 7,000 yen, 14,000 yen. At the bottom part of this cabinet, 14,000 yen. This one, the small one, I think this is a pouch for 4,000 yen. You’ll also find some Gucci bags from left to right. And then at the upper part, more Gucci bags and Chanels as well. This one for 48,000 yen. And the one at the top part looks like an olive green for 150,000 yen. With all honesty, I feel like the watch game here is not really that good in terms of quality and quantity. I think you might want to check other stores. However, the strong feature that they have here based in my opinion would be the sneakers. Very vivid in our background, tons of them, and I’m going to show it to you. They have a lot of Jordan shoes here. Uhhuh. And a lot of collaborations as well. Oski and Nike Dunk High for 22,000 yen. They have this one. I think this is Gragon. I’m not sure if it’s Gragon, but as far as I can remember, someone from Korea collaborated with Nike. And this is the shoe. Oh, correct me if I’m wrong if it’s Gragon for 26,000 yen. Look at this Nike off-white for 14,000 yen only. And then this is a Sakai for 48,000 yen. Then more over here, this one, Blazer Mid, I’m not sure what this is for 12,000 yen. And the one on your left side is listed for 14,000 yen. In terms of condition, the ones that are in the cabinet are actually good. I will rate them at 8.5 out of 10. Look at that Zion Naruto collaboration for 10,000 yen. A very popular colorway of the J1 here for 42,000 yen. The Spider-Man for 24,000 yen. And the list could go on and on and on. Unfortunately, all of these shoes are on single size only. So, if it doesn’t fit you, then you might want to pass on it. It seems like everybody is in the running era of today. And there’s an Alphal here for 13,000 yen only, boys. Then, ah, this is looks interesting. 11,000 yen. But I have no idea what this is. Let me know in the comment section. Pure black Vomero 5 for 9,000 yen. And definitely there is more to what I’m currently showing to you guys. Aside from the corner that I showed you a while ago, you can see there are a lot of shoes scattered around the store or here in the second floor like this things. Uh what’s this one? Windflow 8,000 yen only. And look how clean it is. If you need something formal, definitely they still got you on that area. Look at this one. This is quite big. 6,000 yen only. But in terms of size, I think this is 13. I feel like this is an endless number of shoes in this Book of Super Bazaar. Look at this used Fly Net Zoom Fly for how much? 6,000 yen. A6 for 9,000 yen only. Look at that. A retro vintage area is up in here as well. For 3,000 yen, you can actually take home this vintage leather jacket. This is sick. This is a Timberland shoe for 10,000 yen. By the way, if you have any travel needs or travel necessities such as pocket Wi-Fi, eim tickets for your Disney or USJ, even some hotels, you can book them via cluke.com and take advantage of our promo code madcorner cluke to enjoy that 3 to 5% discount. Again, that is mad cornerclook. And all of a sudden, we found ourselves with tons of golf clubs. And I have no idea what these things are, but the price range would be around 3,000 yen down to 1,200 yen. You can find the Bridgestone, Mizuno, Hornma, PRGR. There’s even Tailor Made and Callaway here. Golf is a sport that I have not yet touched, but you know, hopefully in the future we can give it a try. I’m sorry if I can’t stop looking at these things. I’m going to show it to you. These are the golf bags available here from 3,000 yen up to this one. Uh, another 3,000 yen. Jumbo for 6,000 yen. Adidas for 6,000. A master bunny for 14,000 yen. Callaway for 20,000. It kind of makes sense that they have a good amount of golf items here because just like 5 minutes away from here, there’s a golf range. So, probably a lot of people here are into the sport of golf. They also have a respectable number or volume of anime figures here. For example, this Endeavor here from Ichiban Kuji, price D for 8,000 yen. Anar prize A from Master Lie sits at 4,000 yen. And the list could go on and on and on here, brothers. There’s a good chance that you guys are interested as well on these things because we grew up watching anime like Dragon Ball, Mojako, Dormon and because of the advancing technology, some animes are way better in terms of the visual effects like for example Demon Slayer. Look what we found here. This is an Ichibanuji dress roa Luffy dressed as Lucy. And back in the days like few years ago, we were selling toys. we can actually make a good margin of profit for this figure. But now I’m not really sure anymore. In this episode, I take you on a raw, unfiltered journey through the bustling streets of Osaka and the quiet corners of Kyoto. Two cities pulsing with culture, flavor, and surprises. We’re not just here to eat and admire temples. We’re here for JDM watches like Seiko, Citizen, vintage gems, and secondhand finds you won’t see anywhere else.
But be warned, this is not your typical Osaka or Kyoto travel guide. This is about the hunt. The thrill of finding that one vintage JDM piece buried in a pawnshop, or lost among shelves in a BookOff Super Bazaar that smells like old plastic and quiet desperation. Sometimes, it includes the conversations you have without speaking. Just nods, gestures, and a shared respect between you and a Japanese shopkeeper who knows exactly what you’re looking for.
Osaka hits you in the face the second you arrive. Namba’s alive and twitching with color, food stalls coughing up steam, Don Quijote’s flashing madness burning your ears with the don don donki music. But beneath the noise are gems that even I myself is not expecting at all.
And then there’s Kyoto. Everyone talks about the temples, the geisha district, the bamboo groves. But I was here for something else and my intention is precise like a second hand in your watch. A city that wears time like a well-worn kimono. Under the tourist gloss are secondhand stores where I will be pushing my luck and see where it will go. Watches that have outlived trends, tasted decades, and now sits quietly waiting for someone who gets it. But do not be fooled because it is not always sunshine and rainbows here. Sometimes we hit, sometimes we miss.
If you’re looking for the best places to buy watches in Osaka or Kyoto, if you’re into secondhand shopping in Japan, if you just want to feel like you’re wandering the backstreets with a pocketful of yen and no particular plan, then you are about to consume the correct content. And yeah, I’ll show you how to get to these places too. Train by train. Stop by stop. No nonsense.
I’ll be honest with you, I might not help you completely as a tourist guide for your Kansai trip. But I will show you the other side of Osaka and Kyoto. The side that doesn’t care if you’re a tourist or a collector. It’s just waiting for you to show up and pay attention.
Thrifting at BookOff Super Bazaar Japan Seiko Watches, Citizen and Shoes has become a strategic way of shopping while visiting Japan!
It is a massive secondhand store and they are scattered across the entire country. Since we are in Osaka during the time of visit. We are checking the one in Amagasaki Nishikoya.
Why are we pushing these kinds of secondhand store?
1. Japanese people takes pride in taking care of their items and secondhand shopping is an immaculate way of touching their culture in the flesh.
2. Prices are sometimes too good to be true but they are real! How can you say no in finding a limited edition Seiko watch under 300USD or an Omega watch at 88,000 yen?
3. A spontaneous way of shopping in the dark because you will never know what to expect inside this huge secondhand store called BookOff Super Bazaar! From watches, rings, shoes, clothes, pokemon cards and anything in between. Most likely, they have it!
We have visited so many BookOff Super Bazaar in Japan and will Osaka be a contender for being the best thrift store in Japan? Only way to find out would be watching this Thrifting at BookOff Super Bazaar Japan Seiko Watches, Citizen and Shoes episode until the end!

That Jam Citizen World Time Japan National Team is a limited edition and it is absurd to see it for 9000 yen only
For my fellow watch guys, it starts here 8:25
Haaaay.. Nakakamiss tuloy lalo ang Japan. Totoo pala ang sinasabi nila na hahanap-hanapin mo lodz
