A day in HIROSHIMA AND MIYAJIMA ISLAND in JAPAN, With Bullet Train Back to Osaka
Hi, everyone. I’m Mark from Travelshorts. This is my daughter Holly. That’s my son, Matthew. And today’s our third day
of our epic Japan trip. We’ve just arrived here in Hiroshima. We’re going to be exploring
Hiroshima and Miyajima Island. We arrived just a few minutes ago
on the Shinkansen train from Osaka. So let’s get a move on. The first thing we’re going to do is go
on a sightseeing bus loop to the Memorial Peace Park. So we’ve left Hiroshima train
station via the north exit. That’s the main exit
coming off the Shinkansen. We’re now going to try and find some signs
to take us to the sightseeing bus loop. These buses are actually included in our
JR Kansai Hiroshima pass, so there’ll be no additional charges for us. We’re actually just going to be using
them as transportation here today. We’re going to follow signs
for the sightseeing bus. This looks like the timetable. Hopefully, it’s going to switch
to English, but we’ll see what the 11:30 one is. To get on this sightseeing bus, we’re using our JR West Kansai Hiroshima passes.
It’s included in the cost. So these are really good value tickets. I tell you about them on our way back
to Osaka at the end of the day, where we got them from. We recommend leisurely enjoying the scenery
from one of the many open air cafés. At Jobori, it’s the largest commercial
districts in the Sioux Okoku region with large departing stores and fashion
buildings, offering an array of restaurants and shopping. To the Atomic Bomb Dome will be
the peace memorial park. Thank you. The first stop on our tour around
Hiroshima this morning is going to be the Atomic Bomb Dome. We got off on the third
stop of the Loop Bus. It was bus stop number 6,
and the Dome is right ahead of us here. So I don’t think this really needs any
explanation, but on August sixth, 1945 600 metres directly above this building here was the first ever
atomic bomb used in war. So once that bomb detonated 600 metres
above us there, the only thing left standing was this
building here because it was directly underneath the bomb. Two kilometres all around us was changed
to ashes, and that resulted in over 200,000
deaths of the local inhabitants. So that was the Atomic Bomb Dome. We’re going to go across the river
and take some photographs from that side because I think there’d probably be
some really nice shots over there. Then we’re going to continue walking
through the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park in that direction and go
to the Peace Memorial Museum. We’ve got tickets for 12:00. It’s actually 12:05,
but they are valid for a 30 minutes slot. So So as long as we turn up by 12:30,
they should let us in no issues. And we booked those tickets,
like most things for this trip, via klook.com It just means that you can skip the line
and go straight in just by scanning the QR code. They were really, really cheap as well. I think they were about less than £4 each. So that’s about less than $6 each. And I think that’s worth it because it’s
the same price as if you turned up on the day, but you get to skip the line,
which is always a bonus. And if you are going to purchase them
from Klook, the link to them will be in the description or you can scan
the QR code on the screen now. And if you use my referral code,
Travelshortsklook, you’ll get 5% off the purchase price,
which 5% off £4, not going to save you much, but every little helps. The original plan for today was to go
to Hiroshima Castle first, but due to the delay on our Shinkansen
coming in, arriving an hour late, I’m not sure if we’re going to be doing
that anymore because we do want to go to Miyajima Island. We want to see that famous Torii Gate,
which is out in the water. We also want to get
the ropeway up to the mountain. Time will be a little bit tight today now
because of that extra hour that we’ve lost.
But we’ll see. We’ll see. If you want to write a paper crane message
about peace, you can fill it out here and it will get added to the
Peace Memorial Park website. So we’re arriving at the Peace Museum. It’s right ahead of us here. We’re going to look for the pre-booked
tickets line so we can walk straight in just by scanning our QR codes. I don’t think I’ll be able to talk
too much inside, just out of respect. I’ll do some music overlays
to all these shots inside. There is the dome that we just visited there. Standing, it looked like it was surrounded by some buildings as well. There was a river. We stood over there
to take a photograph of it So we’ve finished in the
Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum. Obviously, it’s a very emotional place,
so I didn’t really talk at all when we were in there. We’ve now come out. I just sat by the river,
nice and peaceful here. The plan was to get the ferry from just
over by here to take us all to Miyajima Island. But we’ve just found out because this is
a tidal river and it’s low tide at the moment, the ferry isn’t going to go
from here, which means we’re going to now return on the bus back to
Hiroshima Station, catch another train to Miyajimaguchi Station,
I think it is, the next station along. That’s going to take about 30 minutes. Was it 30 minutes? And then after that,
we can get another ferry, which that’s only a short ferry
to take us to Miyajima Island. And I think along the way somewhere,
I’m really thirsty. We need to buy a drink or find
some vending machines as well. Luckily, because we got those JR, Kansai,
Hiroshima passes, we can keep riding those buses all day if we
wanted to, or for the next five days if we really wanted to. And the train from Hiroshima to the next
station is also included in the price. And that ferry taking us to the island,
which is also included in the price. So we’re going to sit here for another
couple of minutes, and then we’re going to get back
on that sightseeing bus, which will take us back to the station,
get another train, get a ferry, go the island. And we just spotted a crane as well
in the river doing some fishing or looking for some fish. Okay, so we’ve got ourselves
some ice creams to cool us down. I’ve gone for a lemon sorbet in a cone. Matthew and Holly have got
strawberry milk in a cup. This came to 1,500 ¥ in total, 500 each. It said this was made
with Hiroshima Lemons as well. We’re back at the place we
get our sightseeing loop bus. Looked at the timetable. They should be one here
in about five minutes. Just as we were arriving,
the bus before us was just pulling off. Literally, we’re about 15 metres away. Oh, well, can’t be helped. We made it back to Hiroshima Station. We’re now going to look for the Sanyo Line
to take us to Miyajimaguchi i think it’s going to be platform one. Track one. Okay, we’re starting to stress
out a little bit, if I’m honest. This morning, we used a luggage
delivery service to take our luggage from our hotel in Osaka
to the Universal Studios hotel we’re staying at tonight, also in Osaka. It’s about a 20-minute
drive down the road. Both our cases have got Apple Air
tags in there so we can trace them. And currently, they are in Kyoto, which is over an hour away from Osaka, in a total different direction. As you can see, Osaka is there. So I think they’ve taken our cases
and put it on the wrong lorry or wherever they used to transport things,
and it’s miles and miles and miles away. So we need our cases because
it’s got everything in there. It’s ready to go
to Universal Studios tomorrow. We’ve arrived at my Miyajimaguchi Station. That took just under half
an hour from Hiroshina Station. We’re now following sides
for the Miyajima Ferry. Hopefully, I’ve got my fingers crossed,
we’re not going to have to wait very long for one. As you can see half the people who came
off the train are now heading to the ferry. Okay, where? To get a machine.
Machine, okay. So before we got on board,
we had to pay a 100 ¥ each for a visitor tax to visit the island. We used the automated ticket machine. And what was a little bit frustrating
about it, you couldn’t do the quantity. So I had to do one, put my money in,
do one Put my money in. Do one more.
And then the ticket came out. Then start the whole process again. One, put my money in, ticket came out. Start the whole process again. So we have to do that three times. It would have been a lot easier way. There’s quantity, three that can come out. We’ve just about made it. The boat is behind me there. It is due to depart at 3:25. It is now 3: 20. We’ve come onto the very
top floor of the ferry. In the distance there,
that’s Miyajima Island. I don’t know if you can see it because it
is looking very small at the moment, but the Miyajima Torii Gate. That’s probably one of the most
famous Torii gates there is. It’s floating in the water,
but I think it’s low tide at the moment, so we can You can even be able to walk out
to it because it’s been the sand underneath it. Normally, when it’s high tide,
it looks like it’s just floating on the water, and it’s right next
to a temple or a shrine as well. It’s really beautiful Torii Gate. One of the things I’m really conscious
about as well, the time seems to be getting away from us because this
boat now is departing at 3:25. Our Shinkansen back to Osaka
is at 6:02, so it’s only really leaving us another two
and a half hours before we got to catch our Shinkansen back. I think that hour delay this morning has
really set everything back, and we’re struggling to make up-time,
if I’m being completely honest. So I don’t think we’re going to spend as
much time on the island as we originally planned. The original intention was to go and see
the island, get something to eat, go and see the torii gates,
and then also get the cable way, the cable cars,
all the way to the top of the mountains. I think we’re going to have
to knock that on the head now. I don’t think we’re going to be able
to have enough time to go on the cable way to the top of the mountain. So we might just go to the island,
get something to eat, get some snacks. There’s some really nice
sweets as well available here. And then get the ferry back,
get the train back to Hiroshima Station, then get the Shinkansen back to Osaka
and then to our next hotel at Universal Studios. At least we made it on this anyway without
just driving off with us right on the docks. Yeah, it’s pretty much perfect timing. That was just about a 10-minute ferry journey across the water. We’re now about to dock
at Miyaima Island. We’re going to get off the boat
and we’re going to Have a look around. There were some great views
of that torii gate as well on the way. We got reasonably close to it. Just the landscape as well
with these mountains behind us. It looks absolutely beautiful. Absolutely stunning. So we’ve arrived on Miyajima Island. We’ve seen our first couple of deers. They’re wild animals here,
So it’s not like Nara, where they bow to you and feed and you feed them. So we’re going to keep our distance, but we’ll take a little look at them here. What Matthew? Do you think Holly could
ride it like a horse? Maybe.
Do you want to have a go, Holly? Riding it like a horse? We’re now going to go onto the beach
and walk underneath the torii gate. This is something you
can’t do at high tide. Yeah, because it’s a sea
here most of the time, Holly. Matthews just spotted
a little hermit crab. Wait, there’s more.
Oh, yeah. A couple in there moving around. So I think we’ve taken photos of ourselves
in front of the gate from many, many different angles. It’s time to go back into the town
and look for something to eat, I think. What did you think
of the Torii Gate, Holly? It was like a red, big gate. When we go to Kyoto in a few days time,
there’s going to be a thousand of them, but a lot smaller. We walk through them.
Is that a thousand? I think there might be a bit more. We’re going to walk all the way
through them and up a mountain. Lots of people go to this temple complex
there as well to stand where those people are, right by there, and take photographs
with the Torii gate in the background. I think for that shot,
it looks a lot better when the sea is at high tide and all this is water. There’s a five-store pagoda
up here, and a shrine. So we’re actually struggling
to find ourselves something to eat. Nearly everywhere is oysters, and all
three of us don’t really like oysters. I was hoping to get an Okonomiyaki,
I know that’s pronouncing incorrectly, because that’s traditional
food for this region. I’ve been looking forward to it,
but we can’t find any restaurants, so we’re running out of time
as well a little bit. So we’ve got ourselves some ice cream. I’ve got a matcha and vanilla, and Matthew
and Holly have got caramel ice cream each. I’ll be 100% honest, I’m not the biggest fan of matcha, but because we’re here,
you obviously have to get some matcha. We’re about two minutes away from the
ferry docks and it’s just departing. I think the next one should
be here in about 20 minutes. In the end, we couldn’t find anything
quickly and we want to get the next ferry We just went into Lawson’s,
got some chicken, got a corn dog, and got a sausage and a drink. I know it’s not very Japanese, corn dog. That fella there was after our food. In fact, he grabbed one
of the rubbish bags off me. I had to pull her out of his mouth
so he didn’t swallow the plastic bag. So we made onto the ferry. I think it was going to depart
in about two minutes time. So we ran, not ran, but walked very
briskly back down to the ferry. We’re on board. It be setting off any moment now. And I didn’t film it, but that deer,
when we were eating our corn dog, sausages and chicken, came up,
snuck behind us and grabbed the packaging for my corn dog and was about to eat it. And obviously, you can’t let a deer eat
a plastic and paper piece of rubbish because it’s just
going to get clogged up in its stomach. So I was having to tug a wall with
that deer to pull it out of its mouth. Luckily, in the end, it did come out,
but I imagine most people wouldn’t go to that much effort. So these deer just eat literally rubbish,
and they shouldn’t be eating plastic. The deer should know to eat food only,
but obviously, they don’t. Maybe plastic packaging is tasty for them,
and that’s why there’s no rubbish on the floor anyway, because it just
goes around and eats all the rubbish. Yeah, when we got here,
it ate a paper cup. Yeah, Matthew did see one eating a paper
cup as well as we arrived here a couple of hours ago. So what we’re going to do now,
we’re heading over the water. We’re going to go to the JR
Miyajimaguchi train station, catch a train to Hiroshima,
and then we’re going to be catching our Shinkansen at 6:02 because
we managed to reserve some seats for that Shinkansen all the way back to Osaka. Is it windy, Holly?
Yeah. We made it off the ferry. Now we’re just going to walk that five
minutes or even less to get Maya Miyajimaguchi train station,
catch the train to Hiroshima. Did you enjoy
going to Miyajima Island, Holly? You like the deer? I bet they were cute. Yeah. Me and Matthew got ourselves a seat. Okay, our train has come to a stop. It’s been stopped
for about five minutes. And our train, Shinkansen,
leaves from Hiroshima Station in 9 minutes, we’re starting to move again. I’m very doubtful we’re going to make
this train, which is not a big deal. We just have to go in unreserved
seats on the following train. But that might mean we might not be
sitting together because on the Shinkansen, I think there’s two
carriages which are unreserved per train, except at peak times when Because everything has to be reserved. For the two minutes past six trains
that we’re booked on to, we have reservations and we
have our seats already assigned. We’ve just made it. As we arrived on the platform then,
train was just arriving. I think that’s the first bit
of luck we’ve had all day today. We’re in carriage number 4,
and we’re seats 4A, 4B, and 4C. Now that we’re safely aboard,
I think I’ll give you guys a tour of the seats here in the Shinkansen. This Shinkansen is made up
of a three and two configuration. We’ve got two seats over that side
and three seats this side. The first thing you notice when you get
on board is just the amount of leg room you have.
Look at that. That’s Matthew leaning forwards. Holly’s legs, look at that. Her feet can’t even reach
The seat front of us. There’s an awful… Look at that, room. That’s very far, very far. Then you got the tray tables. Come down like that. Yeah, it says Holly demonstrating. Plenty of room to eat your eekibens. You’ve got the nets to keep your
drinks or magazines or phone in there. Then I think Holly is demonstrating
Just how far back they go. Look at how far that is. She puts her legs out as well. Do your legs
Do your seat back you can just see, there’s actually so
much room there, especially for Holly. You could easily sleep on this train
on longer distances than what we’re going to be going on. Also, plenty of room up there to put your
baggage, although you can’t put oversize luggage above your head there. If you do have oversize luggage
and suitcases, you have to reserve the back seats of each
carriage, and then you could put your suitcases behind the back seats. Would you like to go for a quick
tour around the train? Yes, you do.
First stop the bathroom. I wouldn’t be on a train if I
didn’t show you the bathroom. Here’s a really quick tour of the bathroom
here on the Shinkansen Nozomi 52 N700 going
from Hiroshima to Shin-Osaka. Well, actually, it’s going all the way
to Tokyo, but we’re getting off at Shin-Osaka. Here is the bathroom tour. We’ve got the toilet, obviously. Actually, even on the train,
we’ve got a bidet facility, so it can spray your backside after
you finish doing your business. And you can open and close the toilet lid
by pressing that button and press that button for the flush.
Also got a sink? toilet paper. And imagine a bin down there as well. And you have a mirror.
Hello. So that was it.
A really short tour of this bathroom. On the shinkansen. And there’s also a sink outside as well if
you need to wash yourself, or your hands out here. Now I did mention at the beginning of this video, I’ll tell you a little bit more about the train pass I’ve purchased
today for us to come return to Hiroshima on the Shinkansen. I actually purchased
the JR Kansai Hiroshima Pass from klook.com i’ll tell you more about klook in a minute. But that pass allows you five days
of unlimited travel in the Kansai region, including Shinkansen. Before I even looked at that pass,
I looked at how much return Shinkansen was from Osaka to Hiroshima. I can’t remember the figure now,
but I’ve got down there somewhere on the screen how much
a return Shinkansen fare was from Osaka to Hiroshima and back. Then I became aware of the JR kansai Hiroshima Pass,
and it was actually cheaper. In that, we got the return fare
to Hiroshima using the Shinkansen, but it also included all our regional
trains like we did today, getting that train from Hiroshima
to Miyajima Island to that train station, and also the JR Ferry onto Miyajima,
the Loop bus as well around Hiroshima. That’s also included
in the JR Kansai Hiroshima Pass. We had all that for cheaper than if we
just were to buy a return Shinkansen ticket. So it’s basically a no-brainer,
and that’s why I’ve got it. Even though it’s valid for five days,
just the use we got out of one day today made up for all of it,
we saved money by getting the pass. I think we’ll also use it in about three
days time when we’re going to Kyoto, because it’ll also include the local
trains going to Osaka to Nara, because we’re going to spend half day
in Nara, then Nara to onwards to Kyoto. And as I mentioned earlier,
I purchased these tickets through klook.com If you’re not familiar with what klook is,
it’s a travel booking website where you can purchase attractions, transport,
and tickets for all sorts of things around the world. And if you are interested in purchasing
these tickets from klook as well yourselves,
I’ve left a link in the description down below where you can go and get
these exact same tickets as me. Or you can also scan the QR code
on the screen here above Holly. Got a big yawn.
Are you tired? Yeah.
Been a long day. We got up at 7:00 this morning
and we’ve been pretty busy. So yeah, if you scan my QR code there,
that will take you directly to Klook’s website where you can
purchase the tickets. And if you use my referral code,
travelshortsklook, which is on the screen here,
you will get 5% off your first purchase. And in fact, if you’re interested in just
Shinkansen tickets alone, maybe for different journeys. So in a few days time,
we’re going from Kyoto to Tokyo. You can also buy Shinkansen
tickets from the Klook website. And what’s really handy about getting them
directly from Klook is when you go to check out, if, for example,
you want to reserve the back seat so you can take your oversize luggage,
you just click a button saying Oversize Luggage option, and they
will reserve those seats for you. Similarly, going from Kyoto to Tokyo,
they say, Do you want a Mount Fuji view because you need to be
on the left-hand side? Going from Kyoto to Tokyo to see Mount Fuji
out of the left hand side window. If it’s clear, of course,
because sometimes you don’t see Fuji because there’s lots of clouds
surrounding that mountain. Anyway, if you click on that link down
below, scan the QR code on the screen, use my referral code, travelshortsklook,
and you’ll get 5% off your purchase. If you’re wondering how I get data
on my phone as well, in fact, all three of us, we’ve got Data on our phones. That’s because I purchased Airalo e-Sims
for all three of us before our trip. I’ve been using Airalo now for two years
since 2023 for all our international travels. It’s really simple, it’s straightforward,
and it just means you get data anywhere you are around the world. It’s really simple. You simply install your
e-Sims before you leave. We selected a package for Japan,
obviously, which was really cost-effective. Has a lot of data. Really simple, really happy with them.
Attention, please. We will be stopping
at the Poka-Yama station. The doors on the left side will open.
Thank you. Well, if you’re interested in purchasing
Airalo e-SIMS yourself, I’ll leave a link in the description down
below, or you can scan the QR code on screen here as well. If you use my referral code,
which is on screen here, you’ll get $3 off your first purchase. I know for the last few minutes,
it sounds like I’m selling you things, but I’m really not. I’m not sponsored by any
of these companies. I just recommend ones which I have used
personally, I trust, and I’m happy with. I would never recommend anything
just because the company paid me. That’s not the way that I work on YouTube. I make these videos purely
for fun and not for profit. In fact, I’ll never ask anybody
for Patreon, buy me a coffee, super chat, membership to my channel. I just really don’t believe
in all those things. In fact,
if you read the description down below, I specifically say that, and I always
say as well, if you do feel like giving something to me, I don’t want your money,
but if you want to donate that to charity instead, I’ll be really much appreciated. I support the Motor Neuron disease
Association, otherwise known as ALS, and I have got a just giving link down
below which allow that charity to get 100% of your donation. So never give me money.
No need sponsorship. I don’t do any of that stuff. But if you feel like you’ve enjoyed
watching my videos, first of all, just a like, subscribe,
and a comment makes me happy. I’m just happy with that. But if you wanted to just go
that extra bit, and I will never ask you for anything,
If you donate to charity using the link down below, that would
be very much appreciated. And I promise you this would
be the last thing I mention. I’ve actually produced
a travel guide to Japan. It contains all the places we’ve visited,
all the places we’ve stayed, tips, tricks, everything we’ve learned along the way. Again, that travel guide is 100% free. You can just click the link
in the description down below. I think that description down below
with all the links is growing as the minutes go on during this video. Or you can scan that QR code there to
download the travel guide straight away. Like I said, 100% free. I won’t even ask for your email address.
Thanks. I promise you that’s going to be the last
thing I talk about promoting something. Actually, no, it’s not. When we get to our hotel in Universal City
shortly, we’re staying at the Park Front Hotel. I will talk a little
bit about that as well. I’ll have a link for that. I’m really sorry. And a QR code where you get more
information about that hotel once we arrive. And you’ll see when we get there how
excited I am to stay in this hotel because we’ve upgraded ourselves
to a theme park view room. So I’ll hopefully
We have paid for a theme park view room, so hopefully we will have a theme park
view room, and we will be overlooking Universal Studios Japan. I didn’t mention either how long
this journey is going to be. From Hiroshima to to Shin-Osaka Station,
it’s an hour and 25 minutes. This Shinkansen we’re on is Nozomi. I believe the N700, the special N700,
which we’re on, can go just over 300 kilometres an hour. So it does travel great distances around
Japan at really high speed to connect large cities around the country
at the shortest possible times. Anyway, I think that’s
enough speaking for me now. I’m quite tired. I have to get up at 7:00. You can probably hear I’ve got a croak
in my throat or a frog in my throat. I’m not ill. I think you just talk it so much,
mainly to these two. I’m just feeling overtired. This is our third day in Japan. We had a really long flight coming
here with a stop over in Beijing. Then I didn’t sleep. Then yesterday was a really busy
day as well, and the day before. Stop talking for a bit and enjoy some views out of the windows. Lots of people purchase Ekibens
for the train, so you are able to eat on the Shinkansen. Most local trains is frowned
upon to eat and drink on them. But because these trains go for quite
a while and there’s no catering service on board, so there’s no dining car,
people buy Ekibens before they get on the train. We did that this morning
for our morning trip. Here’s some videos of us getting those
Ekibens and eating those Ekibens. They tasted really good. They were a bit expensive,
though, in my opinion. I put the cost of all three
of them on the screen now. But yeah, they tasted really good. You can even get some
self-heating ones as well. Ours were just chilled. If you’re interested,
we’re currently going 183 miles per hour. Bound for Tokyo. It just about to arrive
at Shin-Osaka Station. I think it’s us. Because it’s the Expo Line.
It’s blue. This is where we go. It wouldn’t be a travelshorts
video if we weren’t rushing. If we get on the Expo Line,
it’s a direct train to Universal City. Problem is, the last one
of the night departs at 7:39. Hold on.
Got to do our tickets. Okay, we rushed to get on this
and we actually made it. What I started to talk about,
then I had to get cut off because we had to use our tickets to get through,
was this is the final Expo line train of the day going to Universal City,
which means we don’t have to change trains at all from Shin-Osaka to Universal City. This trains due to depart at 7:39. It’s now 7:35, so we made it
with four minutes to spare. I feel that’s been the story of today. Either we’ve been delayed or we’ve just
managed to get to somewhere just in the nick of time. So this will now take us all the way
to Universal City without any stops, without any changes. So this line was originally laid
on for the Expo, because if you didn’t know, Osaka is hosting
the Expo for this year. It’s here for, I think, six months,
and I would have really liked to come to it, but we just simply
didn’t have enough time. If we were in Osaka for another day,
we would have definitely gone to the Expo. I really wanted to go, sorry, Holly. I really wanted to go to the one in Dubai
a few years back, but again, I didn’t have a chance to do that. I really want to go to a
world expo at some point. Even though I’m in a city that is hosting
the expo at the moment, we just did not have the time to go. For my not bound for Saturajima,
via Universal City. We will stop at Osaka,
Universal City, and Saturajima. So ours will be the second stop. We have arrived at Universal City. Now we just got to walk to our hotel,
which I believe should only just be 50, 100 metres that way,
right in front of Universal Studios. To get there, we’re going to walk through
Universal City Walk, where we will be coming back out later
after we check in and getting something for our dinner. you can see here at Universal City Walk, it’s really busy at the moment because
the park is due to close in less than an hour’s time. So this is everybody leaving the park to
go and catch the train back into Osaka. And there’s our hotel there,
the Park Front Hotel. And quite fitting for a movie-inspired hotel or a movie-inspired theme park. Our room is 2001. We’ve arrived in our room. It’s Room 2001. Do you want to have a tour of it? I think you do. It looks a really nice room. It’s really spacious as well because a lot
of Japanese hotel rooms are pretty small. But here we go.
I’ll flip the camera around. This is what you got. As soon as you come in through the front
door, which is by there, you’ve got the wardrobe area there,
complementary slippers. In fact, there’s two different types
of slippers, the nice comfortable ones and the plastic ones. What’s this?
I’ll be honest, I don’t even… Is this a hair dryer? I don’t even know what that is. No, it can’t be. Maybe it’s a heater.
I’m not sure. I’ll come back to that. Then over to the right here,
you have got the toilets. So the shower and the toilet is separate. Obviously,
this is a Japanese style toilet with bidet function and also a sink
right above it to wash your hands. Now we’re going into the main
section of the room. You’ve got the fridge by here. And tea and coffee making
facilities and a safe in there. Information about the hotel there. Telephone. Now, this the room. So we have got a family triple room. So we’ve got three single beds. As you can see,
the room is really spacious. We’ve got a sofa to sit on there. There’s Holly with a table. Tv, small table there. Air conditioner there. And then this is the bathroom. So you got his and her sinks. There are lots of amenities. Toothbrushes, toothpaste,
face wash, overnight milk, moisturising lotion, some body towels. They even Green Herb. I don’t even know what that is. Some cotton set, relax pad,
razors, hair brush. Anyway, plenty of things. Some hand and face soap there. Big mirror. And then in here is the bath and a shower. It actually looks like a wet room. So the shower is this side,
and it’s a wet room. But the main thing is the view. So this isn’t the main part of the view. So we look out this window first,
and you can see it’s overlooking Universal City Walk below us there. And then here we go. This is why we came to this hotel. This is a theme park view room. Let me just get that. And that’s the view from our room.
Look at that. That’s Universal Studios right below us. There’s the main gate there. You’ve got the Universal globe just over
by there closing the curtains, so you can see. And there you’ve got the whole
theme park in front of us. Absolutely amazing view. And just see how close we are to the park. Literally, we walk out the door tomorrow
morning and we are right at the park. Wow, that’s a good view. I’m very happy with that. And if you’re interested about this hotel,
I’ll leave how much I paid for it for the free night. So we’re staying here for three nights. I’m thinking it might
have been around £329. No, sorry,
£529 for the three nights, but I’ll put the exact
how much it costs down here and what it is in other currencies as well. And like all the hotels on this trip,
I booked via trip.com and you know me,
I’ll have a link in the description down below where you can
click on to go to trip.com’s website for this
hotel and book it yourself. I’ll also have a QR code
on the screen up by here. Scan that QR code
and you’ll go to the trip.com website for this page. We’ve just noticed there’s no
complementary bottles of water either, but they have provided us with this jug
and it says it’s here as an Earth friendly hotel and to fill this from the
water dispenser on our floor. So it looks like we are there. Water dispenser is the opposite side,
I guess, where we came out on the lift. And there’s also plug outlets
next to the beds here. But the unfortunate thing is a universal
travel adapter wouldn’t fit in there. They’re too close to no matter which way.
I’ve got these ones. So if you’ve got one of these style
universal travel adapters, you won’t be able to put the plug
in by your bed to charge your phone. You’ll have to use the plug sockets,
which are either over there or over there. I think we found another flaw, even on this one, you can’t fit it in. There, it just won’t go. And it’s the behind the television. So we don’t have any sockets
to charge any of our appliances. Oh, let’s have a look.
Good spotting Holly. Okay, yeah, there’s one on the wall there,
so we’ll have to use that. So once again,
If you’ve got these universal power adapters, which these are
pretty standard for all things. And they’ve also got two plug sockets
in the bathroom on the wall, so we could use our adapter in here. It will just make it a little bit awkward, though, because it’s always nice to have your phone by the bed,
so you’ve got your alarm clock. Unfortunately, we’re not
going to be able to do that. And there’s no USB sockets at all,
either, anywhere here. So it’s just a shame. So if you are coming here
and you’ve got a universal adapter, just make sure it’ll
fit in this space here. And there’s also a very
old fashioned clock there. And as I was moving this table to go over
there to put everything on it while I’m charging, I’ve just noticed
they’ve got some plug sockets on the side of this TV unit by there,
so everything can get charged by here now, which is pretty close to the beds,
which are just over there. I think we’re just going to relax
for a few minutes and then we’re going to go out and enjoy Universal City
walk and get something to eat. Let’s go and get something to eat.
Yeah. We’re outside in Universal City Walk. We’re going to walk around now and look
for somewhere that’s going to serve some food that we can have. I reckon it’d be pretty busy, though,
because everybody is now leaving Universal Studios. So let’s see what food
is here, shall we, Holly? Although I think Holly
would be happy with a pizza. Shall we look at the directory? Because there’s a number
of floors as well. So it looks like these Four, three, four, and five here. These are the options. Holly’s favourite,
do you want a photo with Elmo? I don’t know. Elmo. And that one, Cookie Monster. Photo with Cookie Monster, Holly. Popular Chinese tavern,
look what we got here. I’ve been back in Universal Beijing. Everything in here is Takoyaki
with a slightly different ones That’s probably a matcha chocolate
fountain, or a hulk one. Must have tried one. So we’ve come to Mos burger. I know it’s not traditional Japanese, but
it is a Japanese chain of burger joints. So we thought we would just
try it, see what it’s like. Never I’ve eaten a Mos burger before,
so it’s going to be interesting to see what the cheeseburgers are like. This is what it looks like. That’s my burger. There’s Matthew’s burger. His is just a general cheeseburger. Mine was something special
that I don’t recall the name of. We’ve got medium
fries each and a Pepsi each. Right, let’s try
the fries first, shall we? Oh, yeah. They’re really nice fries, actually. Yeah, better than McDonald’s. Okay, let’s try this burger, shall we? They know how to put lettuce on it for one
thing, so that’s going to make it difficult to eat. Okay, still lettuce. I’m going to try and get the burger. I think the burger has
been freshly cooked. I think the sauce on it
is like a teriyaki sauce, maybe. Yeah, it tastes really good. So me and Matthew have
finished our Mos burger. It tasted really nice. Fries were nice, weren’t it, Matthew?
Yeah. Because Holly doesn’t eat burgers, we
were looking for somewhere for her to eat. We decided to get a pizza
from Wolfgang Puck behind me here. Time for the takeout is going
to be 30 minutes, though. So we have ordered the takeout. I’ll come back down in 30 minutes. So we’re going to go back up to the room
after we buy Holly a tanghulu from Strawberry Fetish,
which is right in front of us here. So I’ll come back down, like I said. I’ll get the pizza, and I’ll take it
back up to the room in 30 minutes time. Show me what you want, Holly. Do you want the one with five? This would be a better value for 700. Yeah, strawberry candy long. Looks like you got to enjoy that, Holly. Yeah. Okay.
It’s been almost 30 minutes. I’m going to head back
down and get Holly’s Pizza. I’ll probably stop in Lawson’s on the way
back as well to get ourselves a drink. Got the pizza. Here’s Holly’s Wolfgang
Puck Pizza Margherita. Let’s see what it’s like. I also stopped in Lawson’s on the way
back in and got some drinks. Okay, that looks okay. Yeah? I’m back in the room. Holly’s eating her pizza, so I think

After we arrived at Hiroshima Station on our Shinkansen Bullet train from Osaka we hopped on the Sightseeing Bus loop using our JR Kansai Hiroshima Passes and went to the Atomic Bomb Dome.
It’s called the “Atomic Bomb Dome” for its distinctive domed steel frame and was included in UNESCO’s World Heritage List in December 1996 as a symbol of the devastation caused by the first atomic bomb in the history of humankind.
We then walked through the Peace Memorial Park before going to to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum. The museum collects and displays belongings left by the victims, photos, and other materials that convey the horror of that event, supplemented by exhibits that describe Hiroshima before and after the bombings and others that present the current status of the nuclear age.
When we were finished at the Museum we got some ice cream and went back to Hiroshima Station to get a train to Miyajimaguchi Station and then the JR Ferry to Miyajima Island (Itsukushima) to see the iconic Torii Gate.
We had more ice cream and then started the long trip back to Osaka first by Ferry, the Train and Finally by Shinkansen Bullet Train from Hiroshima to Shin-Osaka Station were we got a subway to Universal City to check into our hotel for the next few nights, the Part Front Hotel at Universal Studios Japan.
We had dinner at Mos Burger and Wolfgang Puck.

I am not going to lie, Hiroshima is a strange destination to want to visit, one of the most monumental events in human history took place here back in 1945, a day that would change warfare forever. I have always had a keep interest in History so it was somewhere that was high on my list for this Japan Trip. I have written a totally free 56 page Japan Guide Book PDF with all our tips, tricks, best hotels, places to visit and more. you can download it instantly here: https://bit.ly/TravelshortsJapan
Odd that the (expensive) hotel didn't provide a USB charger. When I was last in Japan in May I stayed in 10 hotels and they all either had USB sockets, or they provided adapters that actually fitted into the sockets (sometimes on show, sometimes hidden in drawers).
I never had to use my square bulky one at all…
Enjoyed watching this – I did Miyajima last year but at high tide.
