More Hidden Food Trucks in Tokyo You Need to Try! πŸ”πŸœ (Street Food Pt. 2)

Hey guys, welcome back. Today we are in the Marunoji and Ulak Cho area. We’re here to try more food trucks in Tokyo. That’s right. You guys asked for a second one and here we are. Last time we did food trucks in Shibuya. We loved all the food. We were actually quite impressed. So, we’re ready to be impressed again. So, this time we came to Marunoji Uo area. You can walk from Tokyo station or Ulako station. Yes. So, I’m not really sure exactly where we’re going. You did all the research. Where is our first stop? Tokyo International Forum. Cool. It’s right here. Yes. And it’s super hot today, guys. So hot. Right now, we’re at the Tokyo International Forum. This place is located literally right next to Ginsza area. So, it’s super convenient. This place caters to the business people. Obviously, there are eight different food trucks here. They rotate on a daily basis, and they are available between 11:00 and 2:00 p.m. The other great thing is that there are seating areas here, tables and chairs all over the place. The most difficult thing is deciding what to get. Anyway, we decided on these two food trucks because we going to move to a different place after this. The first thing we got is the taco rice with avocado. And this is from Coma Latina. And they specialize in that Okinawan specialty taco rice. And this particular food truck even won first place in the first ever kitchen car championship. This is the original and it comes with rice underneath, I’m sure. And that’s shredded lettuce. You got ground beef seasoned with taco seasonings, some cheese. Uh we got some tomatoes and taco sauce with guacamole. The other convenient thing is that there are many vending machines located right here. So, I got uh Japanese black tea. I think this will go great with uh the food we’re going to be eating today. Cheers. Oh, that’s good. Unsweetened tea. So, we’re going to try to get everything in one bite. So, we got the rice with some of the meat, the tomato sauce, and then a little bit of the guacamole. M m. Oh This is actually very good. No wonder they won an award. M. This is actually one of the best taco rices I’ve had in my life. I’m not even joking. The flavors blend so well together. Super well balanced. The meat is seasoned perfectly with various spices. The freshness of the vegetables just make it so refreshing. There’s no heat whatsoever, but if you do want some heat, they do have tabasco they can add by yourself. If you like guacamole, I definitely recommend you get the one with the guacamole. So, I got from W Tokyo. They sell Japanese style bento. I chose salmon. Gud salmon bento. They have two simma dish and two types of pickles. I want to eat salmon first. Looks nice. Oh, nice fattiness and very tender salmon meat. This one is shiyaki, so seasoned with salt. Rice is perfectly cooked. So, the taste of this salmon combined with rice in my mouth. This is hijiki seaweed and soybean. This one is a dried daon radish, green vegetable with koo seaweed. My favorite type of green vegetable. It’s like a takana with a little bit spicy. Beautiful color of shabas. Nice saltiness. Oh, the sourness is good. This is very good bento. Satoshi, your bento. I thought the quality was amazing. It’s like restaurant quality. Good restaurant quality. Salmon super fresh rice cooked perfectly. So much better than convenience store bentos. But true too. The fluffiness of the the salmon was excellent. Yeah, of course. The taco rice was amazing, too. One of the best. And you know, this place is really popular. There are people waiting in line at pretty much every single food truck here. And you know, like like I said before, uh this place rotates on a daily basis. So, even if you come here Monday through Friday, every single day, you’ll find something different. I almost feel like I want to like stay at a hotel nearby and try the food here. I have lunch here every day. Anyway, we’re going to go to one more spot nearby because there are more food trucks over there. Next, we came to Marinoi area. We are walking Marinoji Nakadori. Very nice street. Yes, I love this place. Um especially on the weekdays uh during the lunch hour because they close off the street. We’re actually walking on the street where cars pass by, but they block off the street for pedestrians so that you can enjoy food from the several food trucks along the street. So, first place is a food truck located right in front of the Marunochi building. This is Nis and we got their skirt steak sandwich. Uh they do offer skirt steak uh plates and bowls, but we thought, you know, we do a sandwich. What I really like about this area is that there is ample seating to enjoy your food and it’s really pleasant pleasant surroundings. Okay, so this is the Harami sandwich. As you can see, the sandwich comes on a kind of a soft baguette and there’s lots of skirt steak meat in there. I think that’s maybe fried onions or some kind of sauce and it comes with some tortilla chips on the side. Looks pretty good. M. That is a really good steak sandwich. The meat is nicely grilled, so you have like a nice char flavor to the meat. The meat is also tender as well. Very beefy. And the sauce has a little bit of kick. It’s like a chili sauce. And the baguette is also soft and fluffy. The fried onions also just add like a really nice crunch and flavor to this sandwich. That’s delicious. So next we bought om rice from Omra. They started their business from a very small cafe. They made really good om rice at that cafe and it become really popular. Now they have several food trucks in addition to a physical shops. And today we bought mabu rice. Mabu sauce means demigrass sauce and tomato sauce combination. But today we went really late. Their tomato sauce is already sold out. So instead they gave us a white sauce one like m nice meaty taste and the egg is very fluffy not runny but very fl and chicken rice. It has a nice ketchup taste and the flavor the solid tiness level is perfect. The combination, the balance with this sauce and rice, also egg is really good. M. So, let’s try the white sauce one. It’s creamy sauce. Some kind of umami inside. What is this? Butter maybe. Okay. So, let’s combine the demigrass and the white sauce. Oh. The combination is good. It become rich taste. The white sauce combined with this demigr sauce. They have the quite nice balance. This is just my guess, but I think it’s a chicken based like chicken stock based white sauce because there is definitely lots of umami and a little bit of meatiness in it. So, it’s like a creamy chicken soup almost. Yeah, that’s what I think. I’m not sure though. Delicious. We had to get one more thing. We decided to get the chicken over rice from a truck called Mr. Halal. We got the original chicken over rice. They also have over cheese or red pepper as well as avocado, but we thought we start off with the original one. So, there are pieces of chicken on top. There is uh lettuce. There’s uh tomato and rice on the bottom. This is long grain rice. And there is a yogurt sauce, I believe. All right, so let’s give it a try. I’m I’m I’m going to try the the rice first. This is so interesting to me because it’s definitely not Japanese. The from the texture to the flavor, it is kind of dry, but I kind of like that because it reminds me of the chicken over rice I had in New York. I believe it’s breast chicken. So, if you prefer a juicy thigh, this might seem a little dry to you, but you guys know I like a breast meat, so that is perfect for me. There’s also a little bit of kick as well. Now, let’s put all the components together. A little bit of the lettuce with that sauce. M yogurt with a little bit of some kind of chili sauce. Definitely has some heat, but not overly. So, I like it. It tastes good. It tastes a little bit healthy as well. How did you think about food truck food today? Oh, I loved it. Like I said, I was really excited to come today because the last time we did the food truck, you know, around the Shibuya area, I was super impressed with the variety and and the quality. And so, I was really looking forward to doing another one. So, thank you guys for suggesting we do another food truck. Please, if you want to see another one, let us know because I just Googled and it says there are around actually there are over 3,000 food trucks in Tokyo. 3,000. 3,000. It means it takes 10 years to each review. Yeah, it says in 1990 there were around 400. So, it increased seven times just in that short time span. Wow. Mhm. Of course, we have to end with something sweet. So we are here just a couple of blocks down from the food trucks. This is Pierre Hermes. This particular Pierre Hermes also has soft serve. And here they are. Mine is mixed berry. It’s very special. It’s this comes with macaron. Okay. It’s it melting. So I eat immediately. Soakimos. M. So rich and creamy soft. It’s really tasty. Macaron have to eat macaron. Yes, it’s P. We have to eat macaron. Very sakuto. Tasty macaron. Also, here’s melon. Very light sakuto. Okay, so of course I had to get the matcha. And like Satoshi said, it is melting. I love the way they present it. You see the mini macarons on the side. And I got auki as well. And I also have a little bit of a mering cookie. Uh this particular shop is really famous for these mering cookies. Right here they have these uh really beautiful mering cookies with the macaron. So this is what it is. So good. So good. Light, crispy, so flavorful. All right, let’s go in with my uh soft serve before it turns into liquid. M super super creamy, also milky and really good flavor of matcha. Interestingly, the flavor of the matcha is not super strong. So maybe some people like it less strong and less bitter. So maybe that’s why they made it that way. But I do prefer my matcha saucer to be a little more on the bitter side. But I think what makes this stand out is the addition of the crispy macarons and the mering cookies. So uh did you have any favorites? Yes. What was taco rice? Taco rice. Actually, I Yeah, mine too. Yeah, that’s my favorite. And my second favorite was actually the salmon bento. Me, too. That was really delicious, too. Yeah. But anyway, uh definitely check these places out. If you want to see more food trucks around the Tokyo area, let us know as well because like I mentioned before, there are over 3,000 of them in this city. Incredible. Anyway, hope you enjoyed it. 1. Love Food Trucks. Great episodes. Yes, please, more food truck episodes. Thank you both for your sacrifice, from England ❀❀❀

  2. Hiiiii guys! I cannot wait to get to Japan to try these food trucks! Thank you for sharing, and brother Shinichi, I’m hoping that it won’t be that hot when we are there.

  3. Please do any type of videos you enjoy. There can never be too many food truck, vending machine, cooking, or konbini videos, imo. Or walking/travel videos, for that matter. I love everything you create! Everything you ate in this video looked delicious. Of course, being vegetarian, the soft-serve ice cream would've been my favorite. Seeing Satoshi's "mixed berry" sundae with meringues reminded me of the scrumptious "peach melba" my mother used to make in the Summer. The base was a homemade meringue topped with hand-churned vanilla ice cream; fresh, ripe, succulent peaches; and covered with a tart homemade fresh raspberry sauce. It was truly Summer in a spoon. Love to you both. πŸ’šπŸ’š

  4. So great! The more you guys showcase what's available the more doable a trip with food allergies seems! Yet another way the fiance and I can afford meals: food truck. The salmon shioyaki bento is the kind of thing I like to make, and gluten free(assuming no gluten in the pickles:)

  5. Great shirt Satoshi-san😊 I just made kale chips and was trying to remember what crunchy was in Nihongo. Guess I need it on a T-shirt☺️

  6. Love a good food truck! I'm coming to Japan for the first time this year and rewatching all my favorite TabiEats videos so I can map where to eat. Thank you for all the fun and info over the years, I'm very grateful!

  7. I love the food truck videos. But to be honest, I'll watch any video you gentlemen post. All your content is great to watch, from food trucks, you just walking and sharing your thoughts and feelings, visiting gardens, museums, or even just stores to visit, never a dull video. Thank you!!❀ Hope you both are having a wonderful weekend. 😊

  8. Good morning from HONG KONG πŸ‡πŸ‡° SAR. Both of you MUST STOP eating out and from convenient shops / stores and food trucks. Many of these food trucks NEVER USE fresh oil to cook their ingredients and they all use sauces and seasonings that are of POOR QUALITY with POOR TASTE containing lots of salt, MSG, artificial colouring, artificial taste and flavours, lots of food enhancers, and many other unwanted food ingredients, despite the fact that these food truck β€œchefs” are not chefs at all. They just try to earn your pocket money.
Eat PROPER and fresh foods that you buy from supermarkets and wet markets !

  9. Those beef foods at the second stop both looked utterly wonderful! And, yes! We do want to see more food trucks.

  10. I love these videos , i'm coming back to Japan in September, the salmon Bento looks great, i will try taco rice, and Japan knows how to do sweet treats better than anyone, thank you for sharing your experience' with us

  11. Yes thank you for second time all the food looks delicious enjoy take care 😘😘❀️πŸ₯°πŸ€©πŸ˜πŸ’―πŸ™πŸŒˆπŸŒΉ

  12. Looks so much better than the food trucks in Australia! In Sydney in particular, food trucks at fairs and festivals are known for charging restaurant prices for food that wouldn’t even meet food court standards πŸ˜‚ Ditto the many temporary food stalls set up on weekends in various suburbs. The only reliable ones are usually the businesses which already have a permanent shop location or make most of their money doing catering.

  13. It's funny… Usually I'm jealous in knowing I won't find the delicious looking foods you try anywhere near me. This time you started strong with a taco bowl (what we call taco rice here) and salmon bento. Two of my favorites! πŸ˜„ Ok. Time to continue watching to see where you go next.

  14. You should do more food trucks when you can. Never know if you'll find something you couldn't normally get at restaurants or stores.

  15. So enjoyable. Thanks for doing another food truck visit. And yes, would like to see more food trucks in different parts of the city.

  16. Woah I did not realize that Tokyo had food trucks as well! Gonna try some of these spots next time im in Japan!

    Awesome video as always!
