Im currently shopping for a civic with a $3k-$7k budget. I know its not a whole lot of money but I really want an export machine. Obviously I plan on modding it out once I get it, but I want a base ek3 or something like that for now. For those of you who have exported, tell me about it. Are the logistics hard? How long did it take? Was it worth it? What should I know before doing this? Etc.

  1. Your not gonna find one of that price and import it.

  2. Logistics are easy, it’s cheaper to go through an importer company or person near you. Don’t look at goonet unless you are willing to pay those hefty fees and be up charged. I live in Japan and I use the Japanese goonet to buy cars here. Your budget is way too low fyi. The people here in Japan KNOW what the cars are worth and purchasing from auction is sketchy unless you have someone here to look at them in person. Your budget should be from $10k to $18k and depending on the car you find that can include import prices. Importing to the US starts at $3k without insurance so be prepared for that. Or you can join the military and pray you get stationed in Japan and they will import one for free

So I have been importing cars from Japan for the last 1.5 years. The first few times were tough but now have it running smoothly. There is a decent amount of work that goes into it both in Japan and US side and if you are just looking for the one car it’s worth it to go through a company. Price-wise I think you’re coming in low, but you could find something at an auction and get a great deal. You can dm me if you want, and can see if we could figure something out. The process for auction can take a while to get exactly what you want if the model or car is more sought after though.

You can’t even find one for those prices IN Japan. You can look up prices on goo net exchange.

Exporter here… Your entire budget will likely get eaten by shipping and import duty. Currently it’s hard to even find those cars in Japan at that budget. 😅

Hard? Not at all, find the right import company and find a transport company and the rest is, just sign here, let them do the work and wait…..Now expenses is the otherside and it can be 2-4k or more, based off of the price of the vehicle, where and to it is going and the type of vehicle.
