I love the email they sent before the hike which stated “Our tours run on “Japan time”. This means that we leave promptly at the published departure time. If you are late, the tour will leave without you and your reservation will be forfeited without refund.” 😂 love it!

Overnight stay at “Hotel” at 7th Station is not a hotel. Packed in like sardines, side-by-side in sleeping bags where you can’t even turn on your side is incredibly uncomfortable.
I understand that it has since improved significantly.

Tip get gaiters which cover well over your hiking boots is highly recommended, especially for the way down hiking through volcanic scree which will otherwise get into your boots
Amazing experience overall.
