Good morning and welcome to the Diary of the Mediterranean Grabbing a quick snack at the Family Mart and a coffee before heading to the train station Mm this one looks delicious!! I love the Family Mart coffee A relaxing moment before the train It takes about 80 minutes to reach Wazuka from Kyoto with 2 trains and a bus Welcome to Wazuka There is a beautiful view of the tea fields from our room The owners of our b&b have offered some delicious tea It is very warming for the cool weather outside Wazuka is a small town in Kyoto known for its tea fields and quiet hillsides The sun’s beginning to set as we head out The light is soft, and the hills are green Let’s take a walk together …please enjoy We have made it to the main road There’s a quietness in this town that you notice immediately It’s nice to breathe in the crisp winter air That was a beautiful walk. Lets head home now Good Morning Time for breakfast at our b&b Brown rice waffle Yuzu jam .. mmm Let’s head up the hill to take in the view Beautiful It is time to leave. We start the day in February in Kyoto with a simple morning of coffee and mochi from the Family Mart before catching a couple of trains and a bus into the peaceful countryside of Wazuka, a quiet tea town just outside the city.

After settling into our beautiful traditional Japanese home, we sip some tea and head out for a slow walk through the town just as the sun begins to set. Wazuka is known for its rolling tea fields and stillness, and this walk offers a glimpse into that slower side of Kyoto prefecture.

The next morning, we wake up, enjoy a delicious breakfast, and hike up the hill to get a closer look at the tea fields from above.

From there, we catch the bus and train again, this time heading off toward Kanazawa.
