Pine Bluff native David Boling, a University of Arkansas graduate who served as Congressman Vic Snyder’s chief of staff in Washington, D.C., is now sending us his expert takes from Tokyo.
Boling is now a director for the consulting firm Eurasia Group, and he’s got a close eye on Japanese politics. It’s a dicey topic right now, with Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba and his Liberal Democratic Party seemingly losing favor with voters over punishing inflation rates. Conservative politicians advocating for tax cuts and tougher immigration limits look to be on the rise. Sound familiar?
Japanese politics can be tough to grasp, but Boling gave a tidy breakdown on CNN this week that will get you up to speed. We especially like that despite his years in tony D.C., Boling’s Jefferson County accent holds strong.
