Okinawa’s Yui Rail: Japan’s smallest, southern most and most uniq train #japanrailway #japantrains

I’m in love with UI Rail, Okinawa’s only rail line. UI rail glides above the clock streets of Naha, the capital, and gives tourists and locals alike, scenic access to Shuri Castle, the notorious Coxai Dori, and the infamous Naha airport. Till I drive you away.

Naha, Okinawa – Japan’s southernmost city is home to something rare: its only train line, the Yui Rail.

Running just 17 km with 19 stations, it connects Naha Airport to the city and beyond — gliding above the streets with stunning ocean and city views. This monorail takes you to key spots like Shuri Castle, Kokusai Dori, and Tedako-Uranishi — all without needing a car.

It’s Japan’s smallest rail network, and also holds the title for the country’s southernmost and westernmost train stations.

In this video, we take you inside the ride, share a few quirks, and look at the future plans (and price hikes) ahead.

If you’re heading to Okinawa, this is the one train you need to know.
