BDO Unibank Inc. (BDO) reaffirmed its commitment to supporting foreign investors by hosting a delegation from the Kyoto Employers Association (KEA), as Japanese companies expand their global footprint to drive regional growth.

The visit, organized in partnership with the Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Osaka, marked KEA’s first business mission to the Philippines. BDO provided the group with insights into the local market, labor conditions and investment opportunities.

The delegation consisted of KEA’s “youth team,” next-generation leaders aged 50 and below, representing a wide range of industries including automotive, real estate, information technology and web services, graphic design, food manufacturing, refrigeration systems, waste paper recycling and legal consultancy.

KEA is one of the four major economic organizations in Kyoto Prefecture, with over 430 member companies, including global firms such as Kyocera, Nidec, Horiba and Shimadzu.

While most Japanese business activity in the Philippines has historically centered around Tokyo and Osaka firms, discussions with the Sy-led BDO focused on strengthening ties between Kyoto-based companies and Philippine stakeholders.

As the only bank in the Philippines with full-service International Desks, the bank offers multilingual teams of relationship managers and advisors experienced in both international and local banking. Its Japan Desk, established in 2007, continues to grow with Japanese-speaking personnel who support Japanese companies and retail customers operating in the country. / KOC
