On July 22, during the latest Pokémon Presents broadcast on YouTube, it was officially announced that PokéPark Kanto, the first-ever permanent Pokémon-themed facility, will open in spring 2026 at Yomiuriland, a major amusement park in Tokyo. Ticket sales are scheduled to begin in fall 2025.

The name “Kanto” is derived from the Kanto region, the setting of the original Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green games released in 1996. Fittingly, Yomiuriland is located in the Tama Hills of the real-life Kanto region, an area rich in natural beauty—making it an ideal home for this new Pokémon attraction.
Spanning approximately 2.6 hectares, PokéPark Kanto will invite Trainers into an immersive Pokémon experience across two main zones: the Forest and the City. Over 600 Pokémon will inhabit these areas, creating an unforgettable journey of discovery for fans of all ages.

The “Pokémon Forest” is a 500-meter-long nature trail featuring diverse terrain—including grassy paths, tunnels, hills, and elevation changes. Visitors can observe the natural behavior of Pokémon, especially those native to the Kanto region, in a lush, interactive setting.
The “Kayatsuri Town” zone offers an urban-style Pokémon experience, welcoming guests with a majestic Primarina fountain. Key attractions include a Trainers’ Market full of exclusive Pokémon goods, a Pokémon Center, Friendlies Shop, Battle Gym, two themed rides, and a Greeting Parade where guests can interact with various Pokémon.

The facility will be operated by PokéPark Kanto, LLC, a joint venture between The Pokémon Company, Yomiuriland, and the Yomiuri Shimbun Tokyo Headquarters.
This initiative builds on a long-standing collaboration between Pokémon and the Yomiuri Group. Past projects include the “Learn Proverbs with Pokémon!” newspaper series (2009), the Pokémon Ryuo Battle Tournament (2014), and Pokémon Wonder (2021), an outdoor nature-based experience within Yomiuriland where visitors encounter Pokémon in the wild.
