Good morning. Welcome to Ōhara, a peaceful village in Kyoto. Today, we’ll take a quiet walk along the approach to Sanzen-in Temple. Boy: “Be sure to check it out!” These are fields of red shiso (perilla) stretching out before us. In summer, the fields turn deep red as the leaves mature. It’s a peaceful and calming place to unwind. During the day, the path to Sanzen-in can get crowded. An early morning stroll, when no one is around, is highly recommended.
