Budget Travel to Hakodate/Hokkaido
Today this will show you some tips to enjoy your trip in Japan reasonably without spending much money. I’m on board AirDu a Japanese airline based in Hokkaido which is is relatively cheaper than other legacy carrier such as Jiao and ANA. I have taken advantage of the mileage program of ANA. So this flight is a nearly free except the tax [Music] [Music] Believe it or not, there are some 10 airports in Hokkaido Island. So, considering the size and the bastness of the prefecture, it’s not too many. There is a direct shuttle bus from the airport to the center city of Hakotate. The final stop is Hakod JR station. Next to the JR station, there are shopping arcade housing some good restaurants and a fish market. But this time, I’m going to eat hamburger. What makes so special? This burger is a combination of pork cutlet and a burger. The restaurant Lucky Po is located near the JR Hakod station. I’m currently climbing up a slope called Hachiman Taka. Hakodate is known as a town of slops. [Music] From the top you can enjoy a excellent view of the Hakodate port. In this area you will find many old fashioned western buildings that were constructed after the restoration of the imperial power in 1868. Going down the slope, I stumbled upon an interesting building with a doomed roof on top. The Hakodate Community Design Center built in 1923. Originally a department store, Salen Kimono. As I port the port, I enter the bay area known as a red brick warehouse. Inside the warehouses, there are numerous shops and restaurants. You can indulge in shopping and dining experiences. However, please note that the prices are not budget traveler friendly. Anyway, don’t you think this shot looks like a bit of Venice of Italy. I had a planned to eat sushi at a local restaurant around 2 p.m., but I had to give up the idea because I had to wait in line. Now, let’s go to the hotel and look inside. The room is spacious and well equipped with bars and a kettle. Before going out, let me try some sushi dinner. Believe it or not, the sushi is around 500 Japanese yen. It’s so fresh and tasty. Even though I bought this at a nearby supermarket, I am climbing up the mountain Hakodate on this bus. You can also choose a ropeway. [Music] [Music] This is a magnificent view of Hakodate city up from the top. Akodate is also famous for its beautiful night view from the summit here. I wanted to wait until the sunlight faded out entirely when the city light twinkles like stars further down. But there is one more place to go on the day. [Music] I got off at Yachi station where there is a public hot. Speaking of hotspring, Yuno is far more famous in Hakodate, but the tourist information center recommended this yachiashira onen. This is rather reasonable and not crowded with tourists. The facility is rather old, but I enjoy the hot spring. The following morning I am leaving the hotel for the airport on a shuttle bus. After arriving the airport and finishing the checkin I entered the lounge for gold card members. The lounge name is spring but this doesn’t mean hot spring but just the name of the lounge. [Music] [Music] In the boarding area, I am eating the hamburger with kag fried chicken which I purchased in the morning at a restaurant Lucky Pierro of Hagodata station where I tasted the previous day. [Music] When it comes to airplane ticket fee, I redeemed mileage for Tokyo to Hakodate. Yes, it was nearly free except the tax. For the return ticket, I purchased it from ANA airline during the sale, which cost around just 8,000 yen. Usually the round trip between Tokyo to Hakodate will cost you around at least 24,000 yen, even if you buy them until 28 days before the trip. [Music] [Music] I will be happy if you enjoy this movie. Anyway, speaking of the Hokkaido Island, Saporo is far more famous, but I believe there are other attractive cities like Hakodate. So, I strongly hope we will visit this town someday.
