A group of middle and high school students from Okinawa, Japan, will arrive in Lompoc on July 23 and stay through Aug. 11 as part of Cultural Homestay International, a local cultural exchange program. And the program still seeks host families for a few students.

Host families provide room, board, and transportation to the program’s weekday Study Center each weekday morning at 8:45 a.m. Students are engaged in English lessons and local field trips Monday through Friday, with visits to the Lompoc Teen Center, Fire and Police stations, La Purisima Mission, Lompoc mural walk, and more.

Families are invited to join all-day excursions to Santa Barbara, Avila Beach, and Piedras Blancas.

Hosting families are provided a $475 stipend per student, and CHI provides an inflatable bed if needed.
