Look at that on the wall. Amazing over there that this building didn’t fall during the earthquake. I think the earthquake was around 2016, but you can see they put all the netting around and that building is cracked all the way up there. I was lucky it didn’t uh fall down. All right, let’s make our way up and see the castle. All right, look at this beautiful castle. We’ve been to Asaka Castle was beautiful. This is uh quite nice as well. So, it was built 400 years ago and recently it was uh damaged by the earthquake. So, they’re doing a lot of repairs around the area. So, let’s go and have a look what’s inside and I’ll share what’s inside this beautiful, beautiful building. All right, the nice view over Kumamoto City. We just climbed all the way out. Have a look on this side. Oh, look at the beautiful mountains in the background. All right, we just walked up into the Kumamoto Museum. It’s actually a museum inside, so I didn’t film any inside because museums are museums. I just told told you about the history about the castle built 400 years 400 years ago. Oh, a lot of it’s in Japanese. Couldn’t really read it. What a beautiful castle. Definitely worth coming up and have a look. So, let’s uh let’s head off and see what else we can find around Kumamoto. All right, we just came down to the bottom of the Kumamoto Castle and there’s like a little markets, little shopping area, so we’re going to explore around here. Tracy’s pretty hungry, so we’re going to try and get some to eat. Oh, there’s heaps of food around here. Look at the food over there. And you don’t go anywhere in Japan without seeing a thousand vending machines. So, we’re going to go and get something to eat. All right, Tracy. Yep. You got heaps of change there. You get change everywhere in Japan. And we’re getting the little mascot, Monor. How do you say the mascot? Monoa. How do you say it? Monoro. Mono. I think that’s the Mono. Manaria. Okay. How much was it? 300 yen. So, three about three Australian dollars. So, about $2 American. I’ll have some more. All right, we’re going to go and find some more food tab. All right, we finished off the custard. Very nice. Here’s here’s the mascot in teddy bear form. 25 Australian dollars. All right. They sell all the new souvenirs around here. It’s showtime. So Oh, it’s showtime. Showtime. Tra, look. Say talk. Say it’s showtime. Talk. Say show time. All righty. We’re not We’re not Oh, it actually it actually mimics what you say. Subscribe to Tracy and Gary. Subscribe to Tracy and Gary. There we go. Make sure you do. All right, we’ve just found horsemeat mince cutlets. Tracy, you won’t try. We are. I’m going to have to try. I’ve never had horse meat. And while you’re in Japan, did I eat it? Let’s have a crack at it. All right. It comes in a little uh little mint puppet there. So, for three free Australian dollars, we’re going to try it. place you’re going to buy it. I’ll show you around the markets. It’s not a nice day. Is it a bit raining today? But there’s all section over the back there. There’s all nice little food stores here. And this is what we’re going to get right here. All right. Sitting outside the shop. Horse meat cutlet right there. Horse meat mint cutlet. It’s called Sorry. I love horses. Love horses. I love riding horses and being around horses. But you got to do what you got to do in countries, don’t you? Like travel around the world. You got it. You got to try different different foods. I’ve never seen it in Japan. I don’t know if this is a thing for really southern Japan or not. I don’t know. I’m not sure about it. Sorry. That’s actually really, really nice. It’s really tender. Nice outside. Nice crunchy. Nice and moist inside with the mint. Nice flavors. Beautiful. All right. Show you going to try. Let me have one more bite. I’ll try. It’s definitely a winner. I can’t believe you’ve tried it. Huh? Actually, it’s really good. It is really, really nice. Maybe it’s not really horse meat. It’s definitely horse meat. If it says horse meat, we’ll pretend it’s not horse meat. It’s horse meat. All right, this is beautiful. Let’s go and try some more food. I love the food in Japan. Japan is probably the best place to eat street food. Other than I think Thailand is really nice, but this is the quality in Japan is is the next level. So, let’s go and find some more unusual foods to eat. All right. In the little um center down the bottom of um Kumamoto Castle, you pay we paid for a ticket to get into Kumamoto Castle. And there’s a little museum near the little restaurants and markets downstairs. So Tracy is getting dressed up. Oh, very nice. Is that what you’re supposed to wear? And then I’m supposed to wear something like that. You’re supposed to wear that. But there’s like a little museum down here. We won’t go into detail, but I thought I’d show you Tracy dressing up as a refined Japanese woman. There we go. All right, let’s continue on around the museum and have a look at some nice little things around here to do. All right, Tracy’s returned with I think it’s honey chicken and sesame. Sesame seed and honey chicken. She’s not sure. So, let’s have a crack. I’m pretty sure it is. How much was that? 500. 500 yen. It’s about five. Five Australian dollars. All right. A little piece. Just Just put one in your mouth. Here we go. Honey chicken. Is it honey chicken? All right. Give me a piece. Let’s have a look. Oh, that’s my favorite so far. That’s nice. That’s not too honeyy. And the chicken’s really tender inside. So that’s what it looks like. 500. Tracy’s just gone to get a drink. And I had to get another one. These are absolutely little men. Little mascot of Kumamoto. And now I got another custard one. I’ll better eat it before she comes back cuz she’ll want some. It’s absolutely delicious. Number one food in Japan. And these uh custard filled little pancake things. Absolutely amazing. All right, Tracy. Our first Kagashima tram. We’re going down towards the aquarium. Here comes our little tram. Look how cute they are. Oh, it’s only small. There it is. Our first little We’ve got our little uh little sweeper car. All right. 000 people when we get on. All right, guys. We’ve uh left Kumamoto yesterday, Shay. Yesterday. Yeah, we we’re going to film a little bit more, but it started raining. So, we’ve left there and we’ve come down to Kagashima. So, we caught the highspeed bullet train, which is not far to Kagashima. So, we’re going to I’ll show you the little surrounding areas. Look at the Look at what they call them. Uh koi or carp koi. the big goldfish. It’s massive. Just in the middle of the city. So, this is the the city. Oh, there’s birds everywhere. So, it’s a nice little city. We’ve walked around for a little bit. We’re going to head up to a lookout and there’s a really nice view of a big volcano. It’s out in the like a semi island out in the water there. So, we’re going to go up there and show you. So, yeah. So, we’ve obviously made two places in one video. So yeah, so we’re going to have a look around Kagashima and see what it has to offer today. We’re doing a nice hike up the mountain. We’re going to an observatory up on top of the hill and it’s got a special view which I’ll show you later in the video. We spent yesterday at Kumamoto. We ended the video cuz it started raining so we didn’t film anymore. But we’ve caught the the highspeed train down to Kagashima for the day. And we’re going to show you what the city has to offer. So, look how steep this is. Tracy’s killing me because she hates walking upstairs like this. But it’s absolutely beautiful in here, isn’t it? Besides walking up the stairs, she’s shaking her head. But it is beautiful. It’s nice nice and cool in here. Like a little rainforest. But wait till we get to the top and show you a beautiful view over the city. And there’s something special that uh hopefully it’s nice clear sky still. It was nice and clear when we started and we’ll be able to show you what’s out there. So, I’m going to burn some calories off walking up here and I’ll show you once we get to the top. All right, we’re nearly nearly to the top. The last little bit across right over there is what I want to show you. But this is a nice city skyline. Tracy’s made it. So yeah, it’s not far. It’s probably what from the center of the city up to here. I would say give yourself what 20 minutes, maybe half an hour walk. It’s only a little steep for for probably about 5 10 minutes of it. It’s not that bad. We’re going to come up to another little section up here where we’re going to be climbing up. But it’s beautiful up here. Get out of the city. I love getting out of the cities and doing the the nature stuff, even though it’s a lot of man-made steps and stuff like that. But yeah, it’s nice and uh a lot cooler up here as it normally is when you go up in the mountains. All right, I want to show you this special thing. So, keep on watching. All right, guys. I’m going to show you the nice view. Let’s have a look at this beautiful view over the city. All right. 100. We call it We want vodka. Forget the money. Thank you. Thank you. Plenty of people up here today. All righty. Look at that. Absolutely beautiful. You can actually catch a ferry that leaves just over here and you can go over there. We don’t have time to do that today. So, we the city of Kagashima right down there. Look at that beautiful volcano over there. I’ll put the name of the volcano on the screen. Absolutely beautiful. It’s absolutely beautiful walking down here, isn’t it? Yeah, it’s nice and cool. Air conditioned. It is. It’s uh very nice. Beautiful. You can walk around here for what? Spend maybe an hour or two walking around these trails. They wind around to different areas. We’re in what? What uh park is it? Shirayama Park. Shirayama Park. So, we’re heading down now. We’ve just had a look at the volcano. I’ll put the name of the volcano on the screen and let you know what that one was. And we’re going heading down to Kaja Kazashima Castle. So, we’re going to see what that’s like down the bottom here. So, it’s the end of this uh little trail that we’re walking down. Everything man-made. Beautiful. Beautiful. Like rainforest in here in the mountains. So, if you want to get out of the city, come up here. It’s absolutely beautiful. When it’s hot, come here. Oh, yeah. When it’s hot in Japan, you got to come up here. Come up here. But uh yeah, we’ll head down there. And uh it didn’t cost anything to come in here, did it? Not not a scent. So yeah, it’s free to walk up around the the hills of Kagashima. We just made it down to Kagashima Castle. We’re in the castle grounds. That’s obviously a new modern building through there. I think it was built in 1600 and there’s like ruins. So I don’t think it’s obviously survived. This is where where it was. Let’s go and have a look over in this nice little building here. I think this might have been the side of the castle right here. I love the I love the um the monuments things on the the tops of the building there. I love them in China and Japan, South Korea. And love the the buildings. Beautiful buildings. It’s nice little area. There’s not not too many people around, but look at the backdrop of the the hills behind the gardens. Absolutely beautiful. But if you’re coming up to the the mountain, which is the the highlight going up and have a look at the volcano, you wandered down this way anyway. So, it’s worth walking in and having a look. There’s a cave, little cave up there. It’s about 600 m. We might walk up and have a look at that. And you can walk inside the cave. Well, we just walked about oh 600 m took about 10 minutes up a nice winding road to say you go cave. So, let’s walk up and have a look at this cave system up here. This is a bit of a the bum steer again. We walked up and the cave systems closed. We did this in Thailand, didn’t we? We’ve got We walked all the way up here yet again. Another cave system’s closed, but this is a little section of it in here anyway. And there’s a section over the back there, but it’s all closed. But we do these things so you don’t have to do them. But it was it’s nice to literally walk up that hill, burn a few burn a few calories. All right, we’re going to make our way down. There’s an aquarium and there’s like like a walkway, a port area. So, we’re going to go down and see what’s down there. see what we can show you down by the waterfront. So, let’s head down there. I think I might be jumping in a taxi this time. All right, Trey. We’re in our first taxi. Taxi in Japan. I think they’re very, very expensive, but nice. Yeah, it’s nice. So, we’re heading down towards the aquarium. The aquarium. All right, guys. We’ve jumped out of the taxi and we’ve headed into the aquarium. I won’t show you too much of the aquarium. Show you little bits and pieces. It was 15 Australian dollars, 1,500 yen to get in per person. And we’ve just been showing where the dolphins are. And here they are. Here you can see them swimming around. All right. So, we’re just going to float around. I’ll show you bits and pieces. If anything’s interesting up, we’ll show you cuz I don’t normally show like zoos and aquariums and stuff like that. And then after this, we’ll walk around outside the harbor front there. And we’ll see what else is there to do around this area. All right. You got to look at this. Absolutely beautiful. Look at the whale shark just gliding through there. All the other fish. Absolutely amazing aquarium. Look at that. All right, let’s uh make our way through. Little bit conflicted. You know, it’s nice to see them in aquariums and all that, but a whale shark like that should be out in the ocean, but it’s absolutely amazing aquarium they’ve got. So, yeah, people have got two thoughts. They shouldn’t be in here. They shouldn’t be. But if they didn’t have places like this, then a lot of things would go extinct in the world and you wouldn’t see them again. Fish is nice. Yeah. Oh, look at the That’s a what do they call them? A shovel nose shark or something like that. And the manta rays over the back there. All right, let’s continue on. Not a bad little aquarium. I didn’t show you everything. Just showed you the main little parts, but this little viewing area straight over the mountain. Absolutely beautiful. Look at that. That’s absolutely amazing. I wish we could stay around here for a couple of days cuz there’d be some nice areas around here to to visit. There’s a lot of especially on that island. I’d love to go over the island, but we’re just going to run out of time. But love to go over there and spend a a day or two just traveling around and seeing what to do over there. But as you can see, all the vending machines in the aquarium. All right, we’re going to head out of the aquarium and see what else we can get up to. All right, we had some fun in the aquarium, didn’t we? It was like a little dolphin show at the end there. took a little snippet of a dolphins jumping around. It’s probably what $15. Yeah, it’s not a huge um aquarium. If you’re not into aquariums, you’d probably skip it, but it was nice. Nice walking through there. I showed some little bits and pieces over there. I’m pretty sure that’s the ferry. And it’s got a a car ferry as well that goes over to the volcano island over the back there. I’ll put that name in the description because I don’t know what it is. But there’s nice little skyline of the Kagashima over there. But uh we’re going to walk along the little prominard here. We’re going to end the video here. Thanks for watching our videos and we had a good time in Kumamoto yesterday and Kagashima today. So, we’ll see you in the next one.
