A new chapter in Guernsey dining has begun with the official opening of Japanese restaurant, Fukku.

Situated on Smith Street, St Peter Port, Fukku opened its doors on Thursday 10th July, in the town’s old post office building.

The restaurant is the latest evolution of Fukku, which first opened in 2022 as a small Japanese izakaya in The Arcade. Now relocated and reimagined as a full-scale dining destination, the new Fukku represents a collaboration between four passionate food professionals: Sam Jarrold (owner of Fukku), Khaled Eldamak (formerly sushi chef at Hook), Piotr Tenderenda (head sushi chef from The Arcade Fukku) and Michele Tagliati Tosi, who leads the front-of-house team as restaurant manager.

“Japanese food has been a passion of mine for years,” said Sam.

“It’s a cuisine built on simplicity, respect for ingredients and craftsmanship. Fukku is about sharing that with Guernsey. We are firm believers in sustainable sourcing, so have partnered with local producers including the Soil Farm, to feature seasonal, organic Guernsey produce alongside ingredients from top Japanese merchants. We can’t wait to welcome everyone.”
