The case involving a Malaysian author and tour operator, who was recently arrested for allegedly assaulting a woman during a work trip in Japan, has been classified as “no further action” (NFA)

According to FMT, Sepang district police chief ACP Norhizam Bahaman said the 36-year-old suspect was released from remand after the deputy public prosecutor decided to apply the NFA classification.

The man was initially arrested after the woman and her husband lodged a police report..

The couple, who operate a separate travel agency, claimed that they were threatened by the suspect over a dispute involving tour packages to Japan.

Police had earlier stated that they were seeking a remand order against the man

Norhizam further clarified that while the suspect was connected to a part-time tour guide who previously alleged she was assaulted in Tokyo, he is not the same individual involved in the January incident.

The alleged victim in the earlier case, Malaysian tour guide Noornabilla Azemi, claimed she was brutally attacked and threatened with death by a fellow Malaysian tour operator at a rented Airbnb in Tokyo on 24 January.

According to a Harian Metro report, Noornabilla alleged the man slammed her head against a bed frame, yanked her by the hair, and stomped on her while wearing boots, leaving her bruised and injured.

She said she lodged a report with the Japanese police and alerted the Malaysian embassy in Tokyo. Upon returning to Malaysia, she also filed a police report in Sepang and underwent medical examinations to support her claims.

The man she named in that case was arrested earlier this week.
