Calgary, Alberta, wants Americans to know that the city is “a welcoming place for all visitors, especially Americans, during this particular time,” says a spokesperson for Calgary Tourism. To let Americans know they are welcome, Calgary launched an ad campaign highlighting why the city is a great place for Americans to visit. Calgary is trying to woo Americans by letting them know it’s home to the world’s largest rodeo, its cooler temperatures make it a great place to escape the heat in the States, and some of America’s favorite television shows, such as The Last of Us, were filmed in Calgary. Plus, the ad emphasizes that the favorable exchange rate means that a trip to Calagery will be about 30% less expensive than a similar vacation in the United States. Perhaps most importantly, Calgary is proud of its reputation for being home to some of the friendliest people on earth, and they are even friendly to American visitors.
