Okinawa at Night in the 80s — Sunabe Seawall, A&W, Motorbikes & Memories

Flashback to a night drive in Okinawa, 1988 — neon-lit streets, bikes, cars, and a glimpse of A&W where many used to hang out.

If you lived on Okinawa or remember this era, you might recognize these locations. This is part of my personal archive of vintage Okinawa footage from the 1970s–90s.

I’m sharing select, edited clips from a student-created VHS tape shared in 1988. My goal is to have a time capsule as part of a preservation series — highlighting student life, hangouts, and memorable places from that time.
This clip has been digitized, edited, and shared for historical preservation, commentary, and cultural memory under fair use. 1988年の沖縄、ネオンに照らされた夜のドライブへタイムスリップ。バイクや車が行き交い、多くの人が集まっていたA&Wの姿も見られます。

かつて沖縄に住んでいた方やこの時代を知る方には、懐かしい風景がよみがえるかもしれません。これは私が保管してきた1970年代〜90年代の沖縄映像アーカイブの一部です。

この映像は、1988年に当時の学生によって作成され、配布されたVHSテープから抜粋・編集したものです。学生生活や人気の場所、思い出のスポットを紹介する保存シリーズの一環として、タイムカプセルのように公開しています。

映像はデジタル化・編集されており、歴史的保存・解説・文化的記録の目的でフェアユースの範囲内で共有しています。著作権を尊重するため、元の音声は差し替えています。営利目的ではありません。
