Black Egg in Japan That Adds 10 Years to Your Life

Let’s eat this black egg from the top of a volcano. This is Mount Hakone in Hakone, Japan. And legend says that if you eat one of these black eggs, your life will be extended by 10 years. So, obviously, we’re going to try that. We got four eggs for 500 yen. And these eggs are black because they actually hard boiled them in the hot springs on the top of the volcano. So, there’s some sort of chemical reaction with the shell, but the inside of the egg is actually completely normal. And it was in fact delicious.

I traveled to Mount Hakone in Japan to try the famous black egg that’s said to extend your life by 10 years. This egg is boiled in the volcanic hot springs of Owakudani, turning its shell black and making it a must-try for anyone visiting the area.
