Inside Tokyo’s Wild & Fun Nightlife Zone

Shimashi. So Shimbashi is in general to simplify it is a salary and town full of as you see isakaya and drinking area. So the vibe in Shinbashi is very different than in Shinjuku or Shibuya. The most important part of Shimbashi is it’s not a touristic area. It’s mostly local. Still you see few tourists here and there or some foreigner but it’s more more like a local town, local drinking town. And it’s a more expensive actually than uh Shinjuku. [Music] So it’s actually one of the oldest nightife area in Tokyo. So like I said is in Minato Ward in Tokyo just a short walk from Ginsa and close to even Tokyo Tower. Also, it’s close to Shi and Hamasu where Tokyo Tower is located. So, as you see, Shimashi is not like a shiny or modern like Shibuya or like Pinsza. It’s older. The building are older and It’s full of like a working people salar town this way on weekend actually Shimbashi is very quiet. If you come to Shimbashi at the weekend it’s not lively because usually people come here for dining and drinking after work. So if you want to know about Japanese salary man culture, this town is the place to check. [Applause] Let’s check this street as well. So in terms of history, Shimashi is I think if I am not mistaken Japan’s oldest train station actually opened in Shimbashi this way the symbol of Shimbashi is a train. I’m going to show you later. So I think since 1,870ish something the train station opened. This is a beautiful isizaka by the way very lively and it’s huge. [Music] So some isakaya small like this and some of them is like that one is super big and this one is quiet. So the first station I think uh over 150 years ago connected the Tokyo and Yokohama. So Shimbashi actually was the train that connected Tokyo and Yukama was 150 years ago. So you can see still you can actually I think you can still see that train and that train I’m going to show you later. It’s actually the original train from the long time ago. This is a lonely building in the center. So it’s not connected to any other building. Let me show you. lonely building. Look at this. So the isizakaya under the train track is called goita in Japanese under the train simply. [Music] So the cool thing about Shimashi is you can see very old buildings, old vibe. Also, if you walk a few minutes, you can see a very modern side of Tokyo. So it’s a combination of modern and oldest style of Tokyo in this area. So Shod, if you go is only 5 minutes away from here. Shod is really cool area. is super modern, super new with the towel buildings. Amazing buildings, but here very old. So, it’s only like I said 5 minutes away from here. So, is it the snack bar? You can usually seeing they have carro in the snack bars. Hello. Yeah. Say hello. Say Lou. They’re singing. I could go inside, but they are singing. I get copyright. All right, let’s [Music] actually Oh, the top the top one also is a is a goa and bar. It’s very nice. We have a girls bar here. And let’s check out this one. This guy is eating ramen or something. So places like this the little alleys and connecting the main street. Sometime you can find some cool bars in those places. Did they explore this area? No, I think I returned from that. So, let’s go back and check this area. So, there are some uh girls bar on top floor. Usually the first floor is isakaya as you see on the top floor bars and more adult stuff on the top floor. So yeah, by the way, this is the main uh street in Shimashi. It’s lively, but compared to like I don’t know Thursday I think it’s not very crowded. [Music] So yeah this area has a lot of isakaya. You can eat all type of Japanese food in Isizakaya. But isizakaya unlike restaurant they have a lot of foods but very little little and usually it’s more expensive than a normal restaurant maybe twice as much because they have a different system for payment. So, Shimashi station even though is the oldest station in uh Japan or at least one of the oldest station in Japan, it still is one of the biggest one of the biggest and because has a lot of lines now connecting a lot of places in Tokyo. connect to the JR line, subway, metro and also monor rail as well. So maybe I think it’s top five, six biggest station in Tokyo right now. All right, let me actually show you the the train I mentioned earlier. It is uh Shimashi JR station. [Music] I’m going to show you the oldest train or at least one of the oldest train in Japan which is now like a symbol of the town. And then we’re going to go and check the uh deeper street area. So the monor rail starts from Shimbashi and goes to Oda Yuri. Yuri Kami actually and [Music] So you see a lot of people with white shirts and black suits in this town salary man. But now it’s summer I think they don’t have to wear a suit. So usually after work they go isakaya they eat and then they go to bar bar hopping and then they go to girls bar or a snack bar they sing and yeah they might get a massage and they end the night. So solid capital of Japan. Let me show you the the train I mentioned earlier. So Shimbashi is actually has a different architecture. Like I said, if you go a few minutes from here, you see like very modern architecture and here you can see the old stuff. So there are a lot of uh tachinomi. Tachinomi means standing bar in this town too. So at daytime actually it’s not very lively because there are many offices in this area. So it’s just business town coffee shops or like a chain restaurant for lunch. But at night is different atmosphere. At night is very lively. So at night the mood is completely different. It’s very colorful because of the neon lights. All right. This is another entrance of Shimashi. This shopping also the shopping mall is one of the oldest in Tokyo. It’s pretty old. And there are many isakaya and massage places in the second floor. Chinese massage. All right. Here we have the train. Okay. So, I think this one is one of the oldest Japan’s train. Now is just a symbol of this town because like I said, Shimbashi was one of the oldest train station in Japan since uh 250 years ago. So the train still is here as a symbol of this town. This guy very old guy overund years maybe. And the smoking space. Smoking area in Japan is cool. There is a I think there is a air conditioner inside. So it’s a glassy room. They have it everywhere. Everybody goes in and smoke. And actually I think they have air con and some air condition also fan to control the smoke. I think I never smoke. Another view of the train. This is the symbol of Shimbashi this train. All right, we are right in front of Shimashi station. Now let’s go continue exploring the nightly. Let’s go deeper. So, let’s go to some uh cool nightlife places. Yeah. By the way, that building over there, it’s very new. This is Shimbashi’s newest uh building which there are many isizakaya inside also bars. It’s actually really cool. There are in the first floor they have isakaya from different prefectures in Japan. Let me show you just from outside. [Music] So it’s eighth floor. They have isakaya. They have bars. They have a rooftop. They have barbecue place. And they have some show as well. It’s the newest area. And usually because it’s super big, uh usually they have space room. You don’t need to cook. Let’s go. I just show you here because of the music I forgot. Yeah. Samray costume inside. All right, let’s get away from the music. It seems hot. No, after I started walking, I feel is hot for the whole night. All right, this is uh another street in Chimachi which is super lively. Let’s check this area out. There’s a British shop here as well. British shop is I think the most popular foreigner in Japan. They have a few of them in every station. The floor is there. By the way, this is the back street of that building I just showed you. So this one also is actually a Yoko. We I just realized that this building I showed you, this is the side street of actually the side view of the same building I showed you earlier. It’s called is in Japanese is written hello. Hello. How are you doing? Hello. So it’s called shimashi. So in katagana on top it says shimbashi yoko. So this one also is shimbashi yoko like the like yoko. So yoko means drinking place. So a place with a lot of drinking shops. So uh in originally Yokoto in all the style of Japanese drinking area Yoko we have the Ebiso Yoko which is the oldest one in Tokyo. That one is the original Yoko. It’s like very natural Yoko. But there are some modern version of Yokojo like this one or like Shibuya Yoko or like uh Asakus Yoko. I think some of you guys been there. So this is a modern version of those uh style city has a different vibe. A lot of Japanese like that one because it’s very nostalgic. It’s the original one. But there are many modern style of Hiko like this one I showed you. So it has eighth floor, a lot of isakaya bars, barbecue places inside. [Music] So the I think the coolest point about uh Shimbashi is the gadita style of isakaya. Gadosa the train truck style the bridge with a train noise so somehow feels I don’t know for a lot of Japanese they think that’s really cool under the train drinking and in open air so so it’s unique part of uh shimashi Look at those. So there are many many snack bars and hostess club as well like G bar and snack bar is the oldest one in Japan. Usually a lady serve the customer drink and snacks. Also they enjoy making conver conversation with her. They talk about their their day time. Uh hello. Hello. YouTube. YouTube. YouTube. Wow. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. So yeah, like I said, uh the snack bar also the the lady is very experienced in usually in making conversation with the uh like a businessman that they go to drinking and they sometimes they just uh talk to her about the situation they had in there. So it’s like a therapy, casual therapy, snack bars or even girls bar. So they enjoy making conversation and they get rid of stress with drink and talking with the lady. And also there are many car rooms. A lot of people they sing after drinking to get rid of stress or just for fun. Also deeper area there are like I said girls bar. You go drink with the girls and talk to them. Some of them also they have habakura style. You can sit just beside the girls and even sometimes you can touch them but that’s more expensive. Also there are massage and relaxation shop as well after especially after midnight. They function differently. So some of them even offer adult services in the massage places. And there are also pachinko and game centers in shimashi. Oh, this one has Korean food. Japanese sake. All right, let’s go check out the front street. From here there is also a temple here in Shimachi temple for businessmen and also there is a park small park in this area. So isakaya is more expensive than a normal restaurant because they serve you different type of little little dish and you have they have a table charge usually is 1,000 and they give you a little plate of salada or some other snacks is called a toshi. So it depends on each shop that one is different. Let’s see. So Shimbashi like I said is only 10 minutes away from Ginsa. Ginsa is a different ward in Tokyo. Sh here is min. So Shimbashi also is a super town is actually open. Most of the bars are open until even some ramen shops, some isakai are open actually until uh 500 a.m. Yeah, this is Tokyo’s local nightife area salar town. So the price of alcohol is a bit higher than our area because a lot of people that they work in Shima Ginsa they get a higher salary and then they can afford to spend more when they come drinking here [Music] but it doesn’t mean more expensive and we can see some maybe cheap places as well. Let me show you some of the narrow alleys in this area. [Laughter] We didn’t check actually the area under the bridge. Let’s go see that one. So, the godderea the under the train from outside they’re very noisy because of the train. uh truck noise, but outside is inside is I think quiet. I actually tried some some of them if you sit outside. Yeah, it’s noisy, but inside is not actually noisy. And after you get some drink, you don’t care about you get used to it. You don’t care about the the train just passing every five minutes and you get used to. [Music] Oh yeah, this is the temple I mentioned earlier. Let me actually show you the temple as well. It’s a cool temple. Let’s go in. The interesting fact is just near the near the temple there are many iss like this. [Music] Oh, sorry. This is a shrine, not temple. I said, so there’s a the design is very different as you see because it’s in businessman’s house. on the video where it’s different. The purpose of this maybe is for praying to get successful in your business. All right, let’s continue the walk around the temple around the shrine and then we go to the Should I go from here? Looks very Let’s check this area. [Music] Some are really cozy and nice. [Music] One cool fact about this type of isizakaya is because uh the seats are very close and when you start drinking you easily make conversation with people around you. So it’s somehow friendly. This one is cooly building. Let me Another cool idea. [Music] So that’s And yeah, I was heading to the under the track area. That area, it’s the the unique point about that area is the track. Just under the track, you drink. Now I am checking which one is the closest. Good to get there. Okay, let’s just cross this interest. [Laughter] [Music] There are many kok building as well. Koke in Japan is super popular. After you drink, you go koke and sing. So, it’s really a big part of Japanese culture. Carmen for ramen. People are lining up for ramen. Ramen also is very popular. Like I said in Japan is a big thing. After drinking alcohol, you want to eat something. Hello. You want to eat something uh salty oil like ramen is the best choice and Japanese ramen is really good and they have 100 type of ramen. Let’s check this area too. This one is a Korean isakaya. This frog when you see this frog is a Korean Korean style of it seems very popular. Now is hot summer drinking outside is fun. How you doing? We are in a different area of machine. [Music] [Music] We’re going to go to dinner. Oh, there’s a decoration here. Some festival is going on. I think this building is a Okay, maybe they have some event. Oh, KFC is closed today. Boy, is closed. Maybe he’s on the construction. The park I mentioned earlier is here. So sometimes also after drinking people get some other drinks at the convenience store and drink at this park. So this park also is popular. It’s a very small park but yeah. [Music] All right. Cool. Sushi restaurant. Another car. Okay. [Music] This is the same train you mentioned earlier. [Music] [Music] [Applause] Heat. Heat. [Music] All [Music] right. This type of isizakaya under the train track are called god of shitta. And they’re actually huge. You go inside. [Music] [Music] Keep your eyes open. [Music] Mark’s inch. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Japanese say Japanese say lemon sour. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Lemon sour. Pine sour. Pine sour. Pine sour. Pine sour water. Yes. [Music] [Music] Gap company company. Oh, company. Oh, friend. Junior high school. Junior high school. Friend from junior high school. And they work for different companies. Once a month. Huh? Once a month. Once a month. Once a month. Drinking. Yes. Every time. Shimashi. Yokohama. Yokohama. Yokohama. Shimashi. Yes. [Laughter] is not that far. 25 minutes. Only 25 minutes. Okay. Let’s go. Thank you. Thank you. Let’s go. Have fun. Thank you. Have fun. All right. [Music] [Music] Oh, look at this bar. It’s cool. Queen. It’s like a card the design. So, 60 minutes, 3,000 yen. I think it’s new. I never seen this design before. I don’t remember that. It’s snack. He’s a snack. Wow. Snack queen. And this one is information as well. Information is they give you information. It says over 18 means adult stuff. They only give you information about the area, nothing else. All [Music] right, let’s let’s dive deeper. Let’s go somewhere else. Let’s see. I’m going to uh after Shimbashi I’m going to go to Ginsa area. Ginsa is just close by and I need to explain some stuff about Ginsa too because uh Ginsa is a luxury area in Tokyo. It’s very different than here. [Laughter] Seems this one is specially for Japanese sake. The cool thing about Japanese sake is if you could I mean usually it’s high quality and I never get headache if I drink only sake. If I mix it with some other alcohol maybe you get headache but sake seems the quality especially if you drink the good quality one. Some of them may be cheaper, maybe not recommended, but in general, sake is not that expensive anyway. And yeah, like I said, you don’t really get headache. Also, it might be different person to person. So, uh let’s Check out the area. I want to see. So it seems there are many clubs inside this building. So the price is seems 60 minutes 6,000 one maybe it’s same company is handling all of them because the sign the sign of the bars were very similar. Maybe it’s same group, same company. Shimachi it’s uh compared to like a Kabukito the buildings are not really tall especially in this area I mean So that has a different feeling somehow and hello. All right. And there are seems like I say it’s a sleepless town and this type of beers where they are actually open until morning. So A lot of people become a regular customers after drinking. After eating in isakaya, they go to cars hobby. This one is a isizakaya again. So Isizakaya has a lot of little little dish like yaki turi yaki chicken, pork, seafood and ga vegetables and also like harag pork fish. You can get anything you want. It’s okay. This is a cool bar. See a lot of photos of famous people. Maybe it’s a cool bar. Sit up. What you got? [Music] [Applause] Ramen hamburger. Gorilla hamburger hunter. Gorilla Hunter. It says the name of the shop. Gorilla Hunter. 100%. Looks good. The price is The price is not written. Uh oh. It says for 150 g, 1,500, [Music] 200 g, 2,000 yen. That’s good. if it’s Wagyu. I’m not sure if it’s Wagyu or not. It doesn’t mention if it’s Wagyu or not. Doesn’t look like it’s Wagyu because for 300 g hamburger Wagyu is going to be more expensive. Yeah. All right. We did check this area. Let’s go for here. I guess bar 3,000 yen. YouTube. YouTube. No YouTube. Okay. All right. Okay. [Music] So coco. Ah okay. [Music] [Music] Okay. Oh, this forest. This is is they have sashimi grill fish and it’s very narrow. Hello. All right. This this area is is not crowded. Oh, I have to run away from this music. All right. All right. Let’s check out the corer area too. So it’s just under the shingle track and super lightly. Let’s go inside this as well. There are many isakaya here. You can sit outside or inside. [Music] It’s a bit narrow. So you only sit inside, but people I think enjoy sitting outside. Even though it’s very narrow, it seems really cool to sit outside drinking. [Music] And you hear the train actually moving. Maybe that also somehow relaxing for some people or is it just different? Hello. It’s hard to walk when people coming from the other side. It’s narrow. So inside is like this. [Music] This one is a Korean. Hello. Hello. Hello everyone. Hello. Have fun. Have fun. Thank you. In this area is different. Has a different wine. [Music] You can enjoy live music too like that. very unique area for drinking and yeah like I said all of them are pisako you can try many type of Japanese food at one place small small dishes while you are drinking [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] So they have Actually top floor too. Maybe one day I have to walk on the top floor as well. [Applause] So this one has a different design is more like a modern version of Isizakaya. This one is older style of like a Yoko style of Isizakaya. I’m going to actually show you the other side which also is really unique is closer close to Hibia area from the other side of the bridge. We’re going to check the Hibia area too. So over there is Ginsa area but we are still in Ginsa corridor. I’m going to show you the other side of the truck and after that we check out the Hibia and then Ginsza and also Urcha. This area also is super lively. [Music] Step off is also means under the truck in Japanese. The shops under the truck. They use a space because the this bridge is really wide. So under truck you can make like a really huge Isak drinking area. Yeah. Ramen. It’s Ramen time now. After drinking ramen, it’s very popular. Look at this one. A wooden building. Very old Edward style. It’s okay. Let’s check out the blue side. Oh, it’s already closed. It’s almost 11:00. I think some of them are open until 11:00 and some of them actually maybe open until 12 in the morning. I’m going to show you another cool isakaya here. This one Super unique. I like this building. [Music] So chall is and let’s check it out from you can’t go inside from here. So it seems you can smoke inside. So, by the way, this is Hibia area. The Toho cinema is there. The Godzilla is on top of that building. And this is Tokyo Midtown Hibia. This building, it’s a big shopping mall and office area. All right, we are not going to go there just to show you. I’m going to come back to the [Applause] So in Japan is very common. You can drink outside and then you can I mean you can drink in isakaya bar and then come outside and get some drink from convenience store and also drink while walking or just finish your night with some additional drink. Oh, really? How is she? This is okay. Thank you, Lord. Oh my god. This one has Nobody and a New another new isakaya here. This also is new. The building also is new. Top floor. All right, this was the story of Ginsa corridor. Sushi is on my another chain. So there are many train sushi restaurant in Japan. Kurasushi, sushi raw. They are uh like a heightened sushi turning sushi. But this sushi zama is higher quality than them. So it’s not you have to order. So it’s different this style. So it’s a little bit more expensive and maybe a little higher quality. Hello. Hello. How are you doing? I’m fine. Oh, cool. Oh, I want to go and check this one out, but music copyright, so I give up. Nice. Sake the restaurant. Suckable. [Music] machine crater. They’re all connected. It’s just a train truck. Under the train truck is many. It’s called Giza. puppies. [Music] Thank you. [Music] Oh my god. Oh yeah. Hello. [Music] Come on. [Music] sushi restaurant. Sushi price is for each one piece 220. Sashimi set of few piece 850. It’s not actually very expensive compared to like chains. So this one is seems famous for soba. This one has So it’s specifically for beef, but it’s not. So it says saga beef. Is it Wagyu maybe? Not sure. [Music] So it’s Wagu. Wagu. If it’s clear, you can see the price is Expensive [Music] Maybe it’s a bar. It’s a cool bar. Oh god, we are in Ginsa and Ginsa has a different night. We see some welderous ladies here saying bye to customers. They are actually not outside. There is no catch service in Ginsa. They work for Kabajjo or Kabakura and Kabakura is very different than Gersbar. And you can see based on the cars here is a luxury night life. It’s not like Kawako rich people come here and it’s super expensive to drink some stuff. And then dev. So the big nightife spot in Ginsa is Kabajjo or Kabakura which the well-dressed ladies serve the customers with drink expensive luxury drinks and they sit with them actually and you can touch them but not uh it depends on the business. You cannot touch everywhere. So okay, but in general they have a really high price tax they pay government. So this way they can arrange them to sit with customers. It’s really different than like a casual beers bar or was club in Ku or other area in Tokyo. The girls don’t stay outside to get customer. They usually make exchange contact line and they get regular customers and they send message every time to them. They go out eating with them before the business, before the working hours of the bar or the Kawajjo and then it’s called uh Dhan. It’s a big thing. It’s part of the culture dhan. And then also after the business hour, they can go out with the customers. That one is called after. And then they can do uh They can go restaurant after like or they can even eat breakfast in the morning. They go bar hopping with them with customers until morning. As you see the buildings there are too many signs but everything is hidden. You have to go inside. If you go inside a lot of more luxury super cool, super rich area because like I said it is Tokyo is the most luxury area. We are in the back street of Ginsa which is full of this type of bar, Kabajjo, Kabakura and this type of day. You can hear them people having fun drinking with the ladies. So, I’m going to show this area. I can show you from far. Some for example ladies, they’re saying by the customer usually they have to wear really luxury dress. big areas also they have to be very well-dressed because the customers are high class. So usually the I think 12 midnight is like a closing time for a lot of bars and then after that they go to restaurant or like I said they go after. after means going following customers, continuing the service and eating with them at restaurant or bar hopping and they might end up in some other area. We don’t know for sure but yeah that also happens. All right, which area should go? Let’s actually see here as well. on. We’re going to check some other back seats. Oh, mercy bar. If you want to speak speaking English speaking. Wow. Yeah. That bar. Oh, this is a cool. So, like I said, this is a luxury. A lot of brands, luxury brand, they have a building here. This one is a Oh, is a Louis Vuitton. This building Super cool building. Glassy building. All right, let’s I’m going to So in Ginsa area, Ginsa Hach is Ginsa 8 area. It’s super well named area for those type of bar and clubs. I’m going to Hello. How are you doing? I’m fine. Fine. Yeah. Okay. Cool. Yeah. All right. Thank you. Enjoy. Yeah. Thank you. Thank you. Okay. Mhm. [Music] [Music] So like I said, if you come here, so uh usually the starting time for a lot of these Kabakuran border 8:00 8:00 p.m. And they usually I think finish at midnight. So when they actually open the area is very lively because a lot of girls go to their places to start working. So you can see them in the street. Also after they finish they working then you can see So they are waving at the customers. [Music] A lot of cool places here. So this this stair shop is I think open until late because a lot of these girls need some time to buy maybe dress. So we are in Ginsa now like I said [Music] lot of hidden bars. They are not hidden. They are in just on top of the building, but you don’t see people outside. Everything is inside. So Ginsa daytime is just shopping paradise is a luxury shopping area. A lot of brands like Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Dior, many luxury brands are actually located here. A lot of uh also department stores like Mitsukushi and Huako also art galleries. Many art gallery galleries here. Many uh accessory also shops the expensive one are located here. Also the biggest Kabuki theater traditional one is here. And you see a lot of expensive cars in this area. But Ginsa at night is very different. It’s not like Kabuko or Shibuya or Shimbashi. Outside is quiet. Everything is inside the buildings. This way is mysterious. So, a lot of high-end bars and lunch and a lot of whiskey and also cigar bars and too. And the main point of night life here is the hostess clubs and the kabakura area which all of them are very expensive. There are some also oldfashioned snack bars, the expensive one in Ina too, and also jazz and piano bars. I made actually one live stream long time ago with what Mishida Mishida son and Miley and some other Japanese people in one just night life was what you recording just night life. Just the night life. Yeah. Okay. I am the night life. You are the night life. You are not the night life. All right. Have fun. Thank you. All right. [Music] All right. Now we are in the almost the main area. We’ll see where to go next. Maybe let’s go from here. See if the traffic light is green. [Music] [Music] What do I [Music] Sorry. Yeah.
