I visited a local Shinto shrine in Nagaoka, Niigata, and found it undergoing repairs.
It was quiet, peaceful—and unexpectedly under construction.
You don’t usually see shrines like this in travel videos.
This is the raw, unfiltered side of Japan that you won’t find in guidebooks.
