Japan’s Most Haunted Forest | Aokigahara 青木ヶ原 (BANNED VIDEO)
Deep at the base of Mount Fuji lies a forest unlike any other. Aoki Gajara, the sea of trees. Its name comes from the way the dense canopy sways like ocean waves in the wind, creating a sea of green that stretches for miles. But this isn’t just a forest. It’s a place steeped in shadow. Centuries ago, it was linked to legends of Ure, restless spirits from Japanese folklore. Over time, Aayoki Gajara became known for something much darker. The forest silence is unnerving. Volcanic rock absorbs sound. GPS barely works and trails vanish without warning, making it dangerously easy to get lost. Today, Aayoki Gajara stands as both a natural wonder and a symbol of Japan’s unspoken struggles. A place where beauty and tragedy collide in the quietest of ways. What is up, guys? We are here right now in Japan in Japan’s most haunted forest called Aki Gohara Forest. In today’s video, we’re not going on an overindepth look on why this forest is so haunted, but rather show the the forest for what its true self is. A beautiful forest that’s right surrounded by Mount Fuji. That’s what this place is. And look at the parking lot. We’re full of people. It’s not all about I want this video to show you the realism of what this forest actually is. And not what Hollywood gave it, not what Logan Paul gave it, and not what anyone else does for it. It actually is one of my favorite forces because of how beautiful and dense it is. It has this mystical spiritualness to it. And it’s no joke. So, I’m going to do my best to show you how it really is. And this camera is used to actually just monitor all the cars here and to make sure people are safe. Now, the forest itself has its haunted elements. We’re all We all know what happened. We know what’s going on. We’re not going to diffuse it and and say it’s not it’s not happening, but there’s just so much more to the place. And that’s what I want to say. Now, right off the bat, I will say this too. Um there is a sign for a missing child right here before you even get inside the forest. And obviously that’s insane and that’s kind of scary and crazy. But I will say this, I did do a deep dive on her case and she did go missing and she did um but it it wasn’t here. It was at a place that was located like an hour from here. I actually don’t even know why the missing child poster is here at the front entrance of Akihara at all. It actually don’t make any sense. But if you guys want to do a deep dive on the case, translate this and look it up. You’ll figure it out. [Music] I’m going to show you where people go hiking. I’m going to show you where the caves are, the ice caves. There’s so much of this place that people don’t realize. There are ice caves here where that that brings you to these beautiful areas here. There’s hiking trails. We’re going to do all that. And look at there’s even ice cream right outside this place. I just want to be the one to just show the real we don’t [ __ ] on this channel. We never did. And I was getting kind of frustrated with how things are. They always say that, “Oh, the Japanese don’t go here. The Japanese is scared of here.” That’s not true at all. Yeah. We just follow the trail and I think we’ll end up at the Winds Cave. Yeah, we have a whole group of people right here coming out here. You can see that it’s full of life every direction, every way. There are people here. We’re in the forest, guys. The most haunted forest. And look, we have a whole freaking area to go inside to see a cave. Should we just scan here? Wow, this is so sick. I’m already loving this forest. It’s a good forest. The reason why the forest is so dense like this is because of Mount Fuji, it erupted. The volcano erupted and this is all lava rock. It just caused this craziness where the trees and everything just grew over this thousands and thousands of years and that’s how it created this form. Um the reason why the quiet the forest gets so quiet is because as you get deeper in those lava rocks absorb all the sound and that’s why it it feels like it’s weird and things can go wrong. It also is why your service can kind of, you know, uh, mess up because of the rocks, because of Mount Fuji. It causes the signal on your phone to mess up. That’s all real stuff. I’ve never been I’ve never even done this before. Let’s see how deep this goes. Must be kind of cold in there. It is really cold in there. And look, the wind is blowing onto the windchimes right now from the cave. Holy crap, it’s cold. It’s way colder in there. It’s like just right here. It is so freaking cold compared to right up there. It’s like night and day difference. I feel like I need a jacket on right now. Just like that. Like no joke. That’s That’s nuts. Well, it’s not frozen, so that’s good. Oh, we got to get down. We got to bend down for this one. I’m coming, bro. Here we go. All right, we’re in. Yo. All right. That’s really cool. This is in Akiohara forest. Look at that. Lot of people here. Lot of people in this forest that apparently is this and that, right? This is beautiful though. This is all I think lava or lava rock if I’m not mistaken. This is cool. It says natural refrigerator. And it’s true. I mean, it is it is freaking cold down here. What what they did at the wind cave. And it tells you right here. You can pause this or not, but you’ll learn about how they were breeding silkworms down here where this cave ends. Now, I’m showing you this because I want you to know that there are things to do here. There are different caves you can explore. There’s the wind cave, the bat cave, and I dude, there’s like five other ones you can see. This is the one that we can go to that’s the closest to the entrance without going into different hikes or parking in different parking lots to get to the other ones. [Music] We just left that cave, but I don’t want to dive into all the caves because we have to park a car to the next place, go to next place. We’re going to simply walk through the trail and just wing it. So, this is the entrance we just did. That entrance brings you to the gift shop, the ice cream shop, and some of the caves. This side brings you to the true experience of just exploring without the tourists. You come to this side. That’s if you just want to go for a hike or whatever. It starts here. I am chugging an entire Gatorade before we get in there. You just don’t know what’s going to happen. Wish us luck. All right. Obviously, there’s a lot of um tension here. There’s a lot of politicalness here that covers this and that and what you should do, what you shouldn’t do, how to film here, what to respect, what to do. I get it. But you have to understand and everyone should know is like people are here every day. People camp here all the time. Japanese do as well. So it’s really cool. I I want to show you the experience of how just things really are here. So for example, for us right now, it’s freaking beautiful. You can still hear some of the cars. We’re not deep in yet. You know, the sun’s kind of beaming down. You see like the sun’s hitting the trees. It is amazing here. The birds are chirping and I love it. [Music] This is great. We came at a good time, too. The sun’s just shining. Whole This is a whole lava rock. Now going into misinformed media films and videos like controversial stuff like the forest that came out in 2016 and various of YouTube videos and criticisms sensationalization of the forest pretty much saying hey like you’re just blowing this forest up to be this place that it’s not that did happen you know the forest really destroyed it as well so there are and it is true for rumors that there are annual sweeps that the you know the authorities come and do walk the forest I think it’s like once a month or something to check. Locals believe that this place is haunted by uh spirits called ureay. You know, they think that ure these spirits are inside the forest and those are the ones that are haunting the forest for what it is. To you, you take in what you believe in or what you think. Personally, if you want my honest opinion, I do think the spirits are haunted by some sort of thing. I don’t know too much about uray or any of that, but yes, I do believe that this forest has some sort of haunted stuff. I don’t think it’s where we’re walking. I I’m not This is not a haunted video. This is just my honest opinion on everything. I just think it has to do when you get deeper in or when it gets dark. Overall, if you’re not searching for those things, you’re fully good here. So, I have a great thing with like mossy ancient stuff, if that makes any sense. Like, I love seeing this. And this forest is one of a kind. Uh I don’t know if you know this, but I I think like after like a volcanic eruption eruption happens, it makes everything fertilize and grow so fast. Yeah. Cuz when you burn forests, it actually gives it a chance to fertilize from the ash. Okay. Yes. And one thing I and the reason why I actually learned this was because I did a video in a documentary in the past on this island in the Caribbeans uh about this volcano that erupted and it was so mossy and so overgrown. And they told me, the scientists, it’s because the volcano erupted and it makes that happen. So that explains why the forest is so dense. I’m not even really that deep in it yet. And I don’t have service at all. Like, so it is true, you don’t really get service in here. Um, I’ll even show you. If you have an Android, you know, on the top right corner, I have no 4G, no 5G, no nothing. What happened? You noticed it’s quiet. Yeah, really quiet. Super quiet. I just hear the wind. You know what’s weird? It happened out of nowhere. Yeah, we just like crossed the line and it was invisible line. Huh. I do admit. Interesting. Very interesting actually. So over here there’s a sign to go right or go left. And this could bring you to the lake. So that’s what I mean. It’s a whole nature trail. You can literally go see a lake. But you see how this sign has graffiti on it, which I actually don’t know why, but that’s the that’s the way to I guess I don’t even know like the way to where it can be haunted. I don’t even understand that, but it’s kind of true. I’ve been here two times and had the first time I experienced everything during the day. I went I went at night did a whole ghost video here and my ghost videos told me that there was evilness here keeping people here but again that’s in like the vices and things like that and that’s just my experience but I felt fine let’s say this forest is truly haunted which again I do believe in spirits obviously I do believe in places that are haunted I’ve been doing ghost hunting for 5 years I do think this place has a dark side. As you walk past here, this is where people say things happen for some reason. It’s in the do not enter sign. Now, why? I don’t know. I don’t know why crossing that threshold is a is is where things happen that goes wrong. Because if I go this side, which again it’s this trail, can something happen to you there? Or is there anything haunted here? I don’t I don’t know. But I don’t know. You know what I mean? Why is it that right here is bad? Beyond this way is where anything can happen, honestly. [Music] What we’re going to do from this point on since we crossed is explore and just Dude, that’s your echo. Nah. No, that wasn’t my echo. What’ you hear? I don’t know. But what we’re going to do is we’re going to explore and we’re just going to give you our take on what we’re seeing and what do you guys see? Like how do you guys feel? What do we feel? and just go through it. But we’re still walking and it can get deep. It can get pretty crazy, you know. You can get lost here cuz the landscape changes now. It’s more like up and down hilly. True. And the and the uh the path is getting less of a path. See? Yeah. I can hardly even see it anymore. I think it’s this way. Yeah, it is. But it’s like it’s hard to tell. Yeah. I think because now we’re no longer in paths, right? So, we’re we we crossed the place and that crossing line could have just been where, hey, there’s no more paths. Follow this path unless you want to go off the path and hike. Take that sign. It could just be it could just be that. But I don’t know. You know what I mean? It doesn’t have to be anything. But yeah, once there’s no path, you just walk through the forest aimlessly. It’s not bad that we’re walking through it. It’s just it becomes this. [Music] It’s a It is dense though. Super dense. Trees are falling in the background in the back there. Every time I’ve been walking, I’ve been seeing the orange ribbons. So, I think whoever came here uh was placing these ribbons down as they explored the forest themselves. All right, so the path is now no more path. It’s just us in pretty much a forest. So, but there’s still an orange ribbon. We keep finding them. There’s a lot of spiders here. It makes me just want to leave the forest, to be honest. They’re they’re like everywhere. Again, there are no people here at all. A deer. Yeah, it’s running away. Capture the deer. It’s too far. So, we found deer. The thing is, it’s true though. When you’re here, just what people say, you only hear the wind. And when you start thinking, sure, it does get [Music] Yeah, you could get Oh my god, the spiders are bad. What? You found a tent? All right, I’m coming. So, Radic just found a tent here. We’re going to go check it out. All right, I’m coming now. All right, keep talking. It’s over there. Wow. I’m coming. Yo, I see you all the way down here. I’m coming. Oh my god, look at this. We’re stepping on just lava rocks. We can kind of fall through and twist your ankles. Radic just found a tent. It’s definitely kind of spooky. That’s for sure. Coming. Oh my god. Of course you can get lost here. It’s so dense and I wouldn’t even know how to get back the path. But because of that, I do think that’s why they keep you out from these areas, the path. I mean, once you lose path, you get lost, you get hurt, you get you you you fall on the rocks. This ain’t a trail anymore. Yeah. I mean, there’s holes everywhere. Shane already fell in. I already fell. Um, he just fell right there. It is horrible here. You can get really hurt twisting your ankle. You’re going to slip and fall on a rock here. I mean, it is dangerous here. You’re just You’re just walking on trees. You’re just literally there is no It’s like half the thing ain’t even land. It’s just tree roots you’re walking on. And what happened is all the roots just build up with leaves after all these years of them falling down that you’re just walking on leaves, but they could be loose and you’re just going to sink your foot right in. So it’s not You have to stick to your trails. It’s dangerous. It’s right down there. You see a white something white right there? I’m pretty sure that’s a tent. It does look like a tent. Got to be. All right, let’s go over there. Yeah. Like, oh my god. Jesus. Christ. [ __ ] Yeah, me too. All right. Yeah, you did find a tent. Oh, dude. I think an animal came through and just Yeah, there is some sort of tent here. Okay. Well, let’s see what’s going on. Let’s look around. Let’s Let’s analyze. First off, there were fake flowers here, right? What’s in here? Yeah, the whole tent’s tipped over. They were burning something in the tent. That’s like books or There’s There’s burned pages over there. See this burned pages? Like a journal. right here. Someone’s journal they were burning. See, this whole thing was burned. And what else is strange is this is a battery charger. So why is that burned now? People do, like I said, people do camp and hang out here, but this could be something, you know, sad. This is a baskets and robins birthday cake. That was a birthday cake. So, there’s flowers over there. There was a birthday cake. And it looks like they were burning someone’s journal. Now, I don’t know. You know what I mean? This is just We can look around here. It is strange. It does look old though. But it has been raining a lot too. This is like a like a scarf. Yeah, it’s a scarf. Now, here’s the thing. Let’s say this was a crime scene. Let’s just say that was a crime scene. If this was a crime scene, they would have picked up everything. That journal would have been evidence for a crime. They would have took it all. I don’t think that’s what it was. I think someone came here, maybe thought about it, left, and left everything. Or it’s just other people camping and wanting an experience to see if this place is haunted or not, and then they just left. You guys screenshot this. We’ll screenshot it, too. You can chat GPT what it’s saying. So we can kind of figure things out. There’s this one. Uh there’s this one too. So there you go. If this is some sort of goodbye or anything, we have uh these two to look at. Screenshot it. And burning pants. We’ll see what it was. You know, this is another charger that burned. That says super fast charger. So they had two chargers here that burned. And they had Look at this. I didn’t even notice. A bunch of firewood to keep going for days. [Music] Either way, we can keep going through the forest like this cuz there’s no more path. What do you think? I mean, let’s not get lost cuz we’re pretty far. True. But you can’t even see where you are right now. The anywhere. Yeah. And again, you don’t have service here. So, uh, that’s true. Let’s Let’s just figure it out. We’ll keep going. We’ll go more deep in. We’re going to go deep in here. And as I go deeper, I do see a blue ribbon that’s in there, too. So people are uh crazy enough people are going through this like us exploring. There’s no other way. Like and plus like there’s like spiderw webs everywhere. Dude, we’re on a lava hill. Look it. We’re on a lava hill looking over everything. It’s sinking into the ground when I don’t step on roots. Yeah. You got to be careful. Like just fall down. Yep. So we got to walk down here now. Oh, there’s something I see here. Yeah. Looks like a cape. What is that? It’s definitely a piece of clothing. Wow. You got to be careful, though. You could fall down. Yeah, we just found something. Look at this. Look at this terrain. Oh, no. Um, it’s a sweater. It’s an all black sweater. That’s odd. My thing is if you’re hiking in a forest regardless, why would you throw your sweater away? Why would you ditch your sweater? You know what I mean? Just saying. Yeah, other people are here exploring. You know how old is this drink? Maybe a couple months. Well, the can looks like super old style. It’s an old style can. That’s why I bring it up. See, this is a massive workout. Like, you sink in all these sides. You could really get hurt. I didn’t want to jump. I’ll just sink into something. Yeah, same. Oh, yeah. There’s a ribbon rear with a green ribbon right there. Oh, there is. Oh, bro. Wait. What’s this string? Why? Oh. Oh. Oh. Why does it go under? because the vegetation. Thought I was going into the cave down there and there’s like a I don’t know. I think from all the vegetation though, it it took it all. Yeah. It’s in very old string. A ribbon. And what did you say? You said you seen something here. Yeah. Still old. Also overgrown from what it looks like. Oh, yep. Yep. But it was a different color, too. Look. See, it’s a different person. Oh. Oh, it’s like totally disintegrated. Yeah. It went down here. I’m surprised we’re even seeing that. I didn’t think people would go this off path. It’s We’re really off of it now. This is some strong line. Just found that. Another one. Oh, that’s tape. Tape. Yeah. I think someone was taping their path. Yeah, cuz someone put line here. See? More line. Oh, yeah. Oh, so these are uh markers. Markers. So, it’s got to take you somewhere if we keep Yeah. Oh, there is more. Yeah. So, it’s got to be taking us somewhere. Let’s follow it. Yeah. It’s just Oh my god. It’s just so many webs and mosquitoes here. I can’t get Dude, I can’t We can’t be in here at night. No. Like, it’s not even for the whole lore and the the legends here. It’s just We’re going to get destroyed by bugs and we’re going to break our our legs here. Dude, without this light we have, I would I would fall through here. This is so dangerous. Well, as you can see, there hasn’t really been animals. We did apparently see a deer. Or you seen a deer, you said, right? Coming across the all these crazy terrains just skipping through. So, I guess there could be some animals. There’s It’s It’s funny cuz like in a forest you would see a whole bunch. I I don’t There’s nothing really. What? All these marks in the ground. That looks like an animal. Could have been a bear. Here. It looks like either a bear or a boar. Boar. Yeah. Yeah, actually it’s pretty big. Look, look, it’s digging it up. Yeah, it’s digging it up. Well, we have to watch out, bro, cuz if we actually see a boar, I mean, we’re kind of dead. We would have to climb a tree and hide out for a while. I want to be out of here soon cuz it’s getting dark. But I want to keep going for now because we can’t be here in the dark, bro. You have no light, right? I have a I have a headlamp, but it’s it’s on the last brink of batteries. Well, I have All right. Well, I do have two lights, so I mean, realistically, but it’s like this is dangerous pen. where there is a big black hump over my trees. It’s really really Oh, no. I see it. I see it. You think it’s a tent? I don’t know what that is. Let’s go. Let’s jump. Yeah. From the distance here, it looks like it could be anything, but it could be that. Dude, I can’t believe this. Like actually, bro, I am I’m giving myself one more hour here before I want to get out because this is a lot. Oh, yeah. Yeah, it’s a big rock. You’re right. I think you see something, but you really don’t. Yeah. Where though? Okay, it’s going this way. The thing that crazy to me is the fact that we do have this string. Oh my. It goes all the way this way. But my thing is is when did they do that? How long ago? So, we’ve been in the forest for about 4 hours now. Uh we have about 2 hours left of daylight. We’re going to explore for another I don’t know 1 hour inside this deep end and we’re going to try to make our way back. I don’t want to be in here before dark. As you can see, it’s pretty bad. We can twist our ankles. We can get hurt. It’s not worth it. Um if I don’t know, we’ll see what we can find. I um as of right now, we did see one tent. We haven’t seen really too much else. We seen the string, the forest. We have not seen any people. We hear the wind. No signs of like voices in the rumors. Um no signs of like ghost stuff, at least right now. We are in such a deep end. Like I’ve never I’ve never seen anything like this. Like my god. Feels like fake Princess Monoke. Yeah, it’s not an official path, but but it’s a man like Oh. Oh. Oh, there’s something there. What? Are those rocks or is that material? No, that’s material of something. Whoa. Got to be careful. I don’t know. It’s some sort of yarn. It’s someone’s sweater. It’s almost like they fil it’s like a scarecrow. A scarecrow. Like they took someone’s thing. I don’t I don’t know. I don’t know. All right. Back on the path. We are out of here. Like we are deep in the forest to explore at night in case we fall into places. And I mean I fell into a well once. It was terrifying. Yeah. Aluminum ones that trap 90% of your body heat went in there. Yeah. This I think cuz it has the aluminum look on it. Plastic. Yeah. I mean we’re so deep out here so other people are camping. Speaking of nuts, I see something. No. What? Way over there. What do you see? Right there. Where? It’s like like a tan. It’s tan. And it’s lit up like a tent, too. No. Let’s go up here. Oh, yeah. Maybe that’s smarter. I’m done after this. I don’t even care. I hate spiders. Hey, that’s a big tent. So, it’s not a tent. No. Oh, holy crap. It’s playing tricks on us. Oh, it’s not a tent. Let’s go over to it. That’s so weird. Snapped up. Dang. I really thought that was a tent. It looked like a tan tent. Like, I thought I thought the same thing. H. Holy. Yeah, dude. You literally just saw a tree. Wow. There is no tent. The light was shining on it. Yeah, it looks like one cuz it’s like thin. Yeah, this area has way more cliffs that you can fall through. Yeah, bad ones. Wa! Almost went. I almost went for it, but I didn’t. We’re trying to get out of here now because at this point, you know, I I cut the camera for a bit. We were looking. We’re exhausted. And I come across this nails. Nails in the tree in the middle of nowhere. Nails in the tree. I just I thought that was weird. As much as I do want to experience the darkness, it would have to be for another time when I don’t know, maybe I just don’t I just don’t want to deal with it right now and getting hurt is not my thing. If I had more people with us and I was feeling it, sure, maybe. But maybe another time I’ll come back here and and try that. We are out. And this is a different way. We’re out. Look, I’ve never even seen this rope before in my life. Not even pictures. We went out a whole different way. Where are we? What does it say? Just the same thing, but just says do not enter. But no fire signs, none of that other stuff. Wa. This is very different. Yeah, it’s a whole different one. Dang. I’m drenched in sweat right now. Yay. Oh my god. Oh my god. I’m so tired. That was a lot. The sun sets in about an hour. Uh we were in there for five. That thing is you can wander forever in there and just Yeah. get lost. That was a really fun experience. I need to go to a 7-Eleven. So guys, as you can see, this patrol that’s here uh just came by to check the area. They must come by every so often, but he’s leaving now. We just left the parking lot. I just want to show you that you see Fuji. Uh it’s like creeping over there. But we’ll be right around here. We might be able to see it right there. Boom. That’s That’s what I mean. Like we’ve only drove like 4 minutes. Look at that. Fuji’s right there. And this is a place you can stay. You’re pretty much staying in uh Yeah. the forest. You’re You know what I mean? The whole thing’s connected. So yeah, just wanted to show that off. I thought that was really cool. It’s here. Here. Here. Yeah. Look at that. This is a really good spot to see. Look at that. Man, Fuji’s right there. And the whole surrounding forest is the forest. I mean, that’s what I mean. It’s endless. You can walk through miles and miles and miles inside there, though, if you think about it. I remember watching your video back in 2016, so cool to see you documenting the beauty of Aokigahara and not just the dark side of it
Anyone else try translating the pages
My Everest still and has more bodies of human lives taken to the end of their life cycles than this “forest”
watching this video makes me…… I don't know…. you know what I mean?
Is this an old video or new????
Would u do a full night proper camping there x
I feel like this was so dangerous Josh! There's always a element of danger in these videos but I'm so glad you got out of there before it got dark!
Do you guys take old videos and re-title them?
When local people tell you: "Don't go there, it's dangerous."—believe them. Those people know best of what is going on in their own domain. Trust their wisdom.
Just saying.
The one page is from a school project
Baskets and Robbin’s?!?!? WTF?! lol
The letter that I translate on Google Lens, it didn't picked every piece of words, but it didn't picked up a little bit of it.
