Abandoned $1.4M Mountain Mansion Hidden in Rural Spain

Today, we’re in the mountains of Spain
to explore a mansion so untouched… One could question whether
it’s abandoned in the first place. That is, until the main door,
sealed by webs tells us otherwise. And this is exactly where
our adventure today begins… in the ground-floor hallway. The working heart of this old home. Look at this kind of stone. This looks like a stone…
kind of sink or a reservoir. Maybe there used to be some holy water in it one day
for when the people came inside the home. Wow! What a precious lamp. A crown on top. Look how it’s been made. It even has glass and everything. Also, wonderful wooden doors. This actually brings us inside… yeah, I would say the barn part of the home. They could actually carry bottles of wine with this. Since there is even a bottle inside of here. And with those ropes… it would actually be quite useful to carry it with you. It says: “‘Barcelona” on it. I think those are actually parts of balconies… but also, parts of bedsteads. Yeah, just some cleaning products over here. Even a wine barrel. I just noticed that right
underneath that bench over here… there is actually a quite old newspaper
dating from 1992. So, we already have a first date. I’m not too sure if that’s
the last date of occupancy. But, yeah, I’m quite determined
that we will definitely find out more. This is another part of the barn… connected to the main hallway. Some glasses. Bottles of distilled liquor. Whoa! It even has, like, a pump. So, I think it was used
to build pressure inside. In that case, I would think maybe oxygen. Or air. What’s this thing even over here? It has two straps. So, I would guess that
you maybe carried it. I’m just trying to deduct… according to the things I see. I’m not sure if you could
actually remove this. But I think you used to carry
some kind of water, maybe… Or, like, oil… in this thing. You see, guys, this is what I love
about exploring these old places. You find new items that
you’ve never seen before. You really do not have a single clue
what their actual purpose is. But in this way, you can learn it. Hopefully, through you guys, who have
some more knowledge about those things. But it’s just so captivating. Whoa! There’s a lot of dust over here. Another newspaper from 1992. “Diario 16”. A newspaper from Madrid, the capital of Spain. There are some old parts of lamps and stuff in here. Also, look at the painted
blue colors of the ceiling. And also, part of the wall over here. Wow! Guys…! Check out those rocks. That one is even one with crystal, I believe. This is, maybe, quartz. Wow. It’s quite heavy as well. Wow! Look at this. It’s even blinking inside the camera lens. We also have those… very old… bust heads, again. So, that was already a little start. But, guys, trust me when I tell you
there’s so much more to follow. In this beautiful historical home. This beautiful stone home. Some fake plants… But you can clearly see
that those are paper plants. Some of the fake plants we often
find in France, they look so real… that people even have commented, like:
“The plants are still alive.” “There’s no way that this
place is actually abandoned.” Have a look at it. Oh! Incredible! Wow! This home is just the
definition of untouched. It is truly pristine. And over here… on this beautiful tapestry… We actually have what the Spanish refer to as an “Escudos”. It’s actually, like, a family coat of arms, we would say. Hanging proudly on the wall… this embroidered coat of arms
reveals the family name: “Botero”. The Botero name traces back to craftsmen
who once made and carried wineskins. But over generations,
the family rose to nobility. The black grenades on the
shield point to a military past. Likely artillery officers or men of war. While the lion symbolizes
strength and courage. It’s a forgotten chapter
of the house’s history… stitched into this very fabric. And it certainly was a quite
generous family that lived here. A cow rug on the ground. Another wonderful lamp. It has angels on the side. And have a look at this. I’ve never seen something like this. It looks like it’s leather. A leather artwork of Holy Mary with a crown. I think this is quite valuable. It’s still in a very excellent condition. “Terno Berde.” “Terno morado”. Oh! Haha. It’s part of a… cigar box. I think that this was most
likely used for jewelry. Or maybe, like, very tiny silverware. What is this? Oh! All right. Those are actually some
blueprints of a tower. Quite a historical building. So, maybe the person that lived
here used to be an architect. We’ve also got a precious
grandfather clock over here. “Frederico Alejandre”. It’s actually from Santander. A city in the north of Spain. That’s where this clock was manufactured. Have a look at this over here. I love how they design
these Spanish homes. Wow! Guys…! This is the back balcony part. It’s overlooking the garden
and you can also see a shed over there. Oh, and this actually
was a little bathroom. At first glance, you think it
might be relatively clean, but… If you start looking more detailed… you can clearly see leaves coming in. Cobwebs. Also, a little bit of feces from vermin. Like rat and mice that
came inside the home. Okay, and then, it’s time to go to
my favorite room in this place. And the door leading to it is
already very unique, because… they’ve got those, yeah, wooden, kind of… Yeah, how do you call this? I actually don’t know. But I’ve never seen it, like, it’s no windows. Like, you can just see through. That’s very unique. And have a look at this, guys! Oh, oh! It’s completely pristine. Wow! What a beauty! And in this room we’re also going to find
what I was telling you at the start. The thing my friend found that is
definitely not very common to find. I’m not sure, maybe this
was a holy water receptacle. I’ve never seen one like this, though. Maybe they put something else in there. Oh, wow! Crucified Jesus Christ… on this oil painting. Absolutely incredible. And then, on top of this desk… we have all their family ancestors and members. Still, honored in those frames. Wow! We can see the same
woman in this photo, I believe… or at least, they really
look like each other. Maybe mom and daughter. Maybe the daughter over here is still… the last family member to be alive… and tried to sell the property. Then, let’s check out the drawers. This one is empty. This one is empty as well. But… Oh, guys, check this out! We’ve got a handgun over here, a hand pistol. It’s crazy. It even still has this golden plaque on it. It’s not loaded. It does not have any
bullets anymore, but… Yeah, this is crazy to find in Europe. Like, just a gun in a place. Incredible, Cowbells. Car magazines. But, of course… as always, this place has
way more surprises to offer. A very cozy sitting corner over here. Another family ancestor over there. Wow! And a beautiful other oil painting. Incredible, guys! Another cow rug over there as well. A family photo over here. And guys, check this thing out! I’ve found it one time before. In a Spanish home… that I haven’t published yet. And it has incredible carvings in its woodwork. I’ve only found this in Spain before. So, I do expect it to be something… Well, at least relating to religion, I think. And also, something Southern-European. Some more recent photos. Oh! Guys, I love this! They’ve got, like, this little
sitting corner over here. Two wooden benches on the sides. You can watch outside And you can see how
overgrown the garden is. Full of shrubbery. And last but not least… the stone fireplace. Still, with the tools… on each side of the fireplace mantel. Then let’s continue our
way after we saw that… gorgeous living room, just frozen in time. I really love the doors in this place. Well, time to enter the first bedroom. You can tell that this place
has been very well-preserved… during the years. There is dust. There are animal droppings. But for the rest, it’s still relatively clean. A very Spanish bed frame over here. Well, still a pillow in here. But no clothes left. And still some blankets. I think apart from the pictures,
that they actually… took the personal utensils. Also, like clothes and stuff. Since I think… the people that still privately own this place
are definitely still alive. A crucifix over here. It’s just beautiful. You can clearly see the
essence of religion for… the past inhabitants of this place. It’s reflecting everywhere on the walls. Those frames. The Holy Mary statues and artwork. Wow! The beds are even still made. It’s absolutely unbelievable. Honestly, like, I hope they will
sell the home in the near future. Because I think there is
definitely minimal work. Like, you can see some cracks and stuff. “Les Ivrognes”. I’m not sure what that means. But if you ask me, it’s the drinkers because they all seem pretty drunk, haha. Oh, wow! Check this out! Some kind of scissors. Wait, I’m going to zoom in on it. This is pretty unique. Like, you could clip something in between here. But what? You could put something in there… it would be pressed. I’ve never seen it either. Well, this was definitely used to burn some incense. Oh, over here we have another one. “Les antiquaires”. It looks like the people that are
interested in antiques or something. And this definitely looks like
maybe it was some kind of priest. Or at least, a very wise man. They often say:
“The longer the beard, the wiser the man.” This place does, in fact,
have a lot of bedrooms. So, it was definitely once owned by… a relatively large family. This is a very typical Spanish bed frame. That I’ve seen several times before… in abandoned Spanish homes. And the same goes for the vanity
over here with a marble plate… and the mirror. Chairs like this, I believe
they are called director’s chairs. I think it’s the first time
I see one in Spain… but I’ve seen them in Portugal sometimes. So, yeah, they were definitely
common in Southern Europe. Some more pillows and blankets. And again, the clothes are absent. Well, finally, there is one other bedroom
on the opposite side over here. Everything is in a mint green color. This one looks rather modern. So, it’s not very antique, so… Yeah, it’s quite a plain room. Time to head up to the third floor right now. We actually still have this floor to go. And after that, there will be one attic. Another oil painting over here. It’s a little bit less elaborate and detailed
as the other two ones we’ve found. It actually says: “Mexico” on it. A wonderful carved statue. It also looks very old. Oh! Have a look at all the faeces over here. Like, you can clearly see that rat and mice… made their way inside the property. Oh, and look over here. “Ave Maria”. Well, we made it to the final… at least, livable floor. And this one actually seems to be… in the worst condition of all. At least, like, it’s the dirtiest. But then again, we have a room that’s incredible. Typical Spanish furniture again. With the flower cushions. Incredible! Even a game of checkers over here. “‘Los Ciegos de Jerico”. A lot of magazines over here. Maybe I can find a more recent date. Well, that’s 1985. This is a newspaper with a
puzzle that has been made. So, this should have a more recent date. Yeah, it does… 2003. The most recent date I’ve found so far. Oh, look at this! What are those? Those are actually, like, kind of… yeah, painted things. Painted kind of tiles on the fireplace. I never saw it in that way. Oh, and look at this! We’ve got some old photos of the family inside the home. Wow! It’s incredible. We have some more tiles over here. Another photo of some children there. Another little passage here. It looks like over there
they had a little shed… where they actually
stored some working tools. A beautiful light fixture over here. And actually, over here is
another balcony in the back. Wow! Check this out! You can see the garden. A very tiny bedroom over here. Maybe it was, like, a spare bedroom
when guests came over. It’s sad to see the damage
on this beautiful painting. Wow! Guys…! Look at this marvelous bed over here… with a golden bed frame. Incredible! I also really like the wardrobe. Let’s see what other rooms we can find. Oh, this is actually quite a modern room. At least, it has very modern beds. Also, a rocking chair over here. Let’s see if there are some clothes in here
but I don’t believe there are. Nope. Ooh! There used to be some bottles of liquor. They actually put, like, berries, kind of, in there. Oh, wow! A lot of glasses and everything. Oh, check this out! This used to be the dining room, I think. Because the room that’s right
next to it and that’s about to follow… is the actual kitchen. I think it’s one of the
first times that I find… the dining room and the kitchen… on the complete upstairs level. It’s so pristine. Spain has a lot to offer, honestly. I’m so glad to be back here. For filming another series. And sharing some more
beautiful places with you. In this absolutely
incredible country with… wonderful culture. Very warm-hearted people. And, of course, beautiful
abandoned places as well. As I told you,
connected to the dining room… we have the “cocina”. Well, you can tell that… all is left behind. I don’t see a fridge right now. So, that one was maybe taken away. They definitely used to do ironing over here. Maybe some laundry. A little toilet. Actually, this is only the second tiny
bathroom that we see in this place. Which is quite strange for such a big place. But yeah, I think that was it for this floor. I actually just noticed this thing
inside the door leading to the stairwell. Oh! Who’s there? So, this is actually, I believe, what it was for,
like, so you could see through. Like: “Knock-knock who’s there?” And then, you could actually see
who is there before opening the door. Some extra privacy. And who was there? Sergio, @symmetricalvandal. Hahaha. Well, time to head to the final floor: the attic. Let’s see what we can find up here. There are always old
things to find in attics, so… Here’s already the first thing. This little plaque. It’s kind of a crown, very rusty with… a cross on top. Whoa! Some magazines dating August 1969. Oh, oh! Some old advertisements for cigarettes. The price was still in pesetas. The currency back in those days. They are all dating from 1969. A very old hover. Oh, there is even a scale over
here in front of the window. Is this a typewriter? Whoa, guys! A Hammond typewriter
is still inside of here. That’s crazy. Well, some old frames
that used to be for portraits. And then, lastly, we have
those water tanks over here… connected with the plumbing system. “No tocar esta clave sin cerrar.” It means something like: “Do not touch this without
closing…” or something. “September 1982…” That’s an old note. But time didn’t stop in 1982. Today, this once-forgotten
estate is back on the market… listed for 1.4 million dollars. Will it be preserved, reborn,
or erased by time again? Next week on Abandoned Spain… we explore a breathtaking abandoned
medieval castle frozen in time… and it will leave you speechless. Trust me, you don’t want to miss this one.

  10. These houses are art because in those days, there was no technology to help design plans like there is today.
And therein lies the essence of this, where only pencil and paper, were the company of those who designed them.
Like the properties in Cuba, which I haven't seen in person, but even in their decay, they still have faint glimpses of the beauty and the talents of their designers.

☆I think art, endures beyond time; it's eternal,
it's permanent and something that remains encapsulated in time"
    I love architecture

and the way you pronounce Spanish, much more☆☆☆☆☆🎉

  11. Hello Maureno , Sorry for the late comment on this superb documentary. Absolutely love this Spanish manor frozen in time. I hope to caught your next video.
