Benten Iwa (Rock): (Niigata, Japan)

Benten Rock was created by the eruption of the submarine volcano of Fossa Magna and one of the geosites of Itoigawa Geopark. The light house on Rock is an important guidepost for fishing boat entering or leaving the Nobu Fishing Port.

Ryujin (dragon god) is top of Rock. It is the shrine god of Zenhoji Temple (Yamagata Prefecture). The temple is deeply worshiped by fisher men as the guardian god of a sea, and is visited by people who pray for the safe navigation and great fishing.
