What to expect at Osaka World Expo 2025 Japan

[Music] Good morning, good afternoon, good evening everyone. Welcome back in our channel Mad Corner here and for this episode we are still in Osaka. Of course, it is safe to say that this is the sole purpose of us being here in Osaka right now and it is an event that only happens once in every 5 years. It is none other than the World Expo 2025. We are entering the east gate and as you can see that is the mascot named Maku Myaku. If you’re going to translate that to J uh to English that means pulse. It looks like a donut blob. I don’t know how come it’s like that made up of multiple circles forming together. I would say the bread and butter of this place/event would be this one. This is the grand ring as they call it. This architectural marvel is made up of wood and it hugs the entire place in a circular shape. It is also the largest wooden architectural structure in the world according to Guinness World Records. It has an approximate 2 km circumference and I’m not even sure if we can cover the entire thing for this day. And on top of that, this giant ring stands around 20 or 22 m high. Ticket price is 7,500 for an adult. And I will put the link of their website on the description box down below. So, if you wanted to add this in your itinerary and the World Expo event will run for 6 months. So, I think it will end by October of 2025. So, you still have time to participate if you have future plans of visiting Osaka. And now we are stepping in inside the Grand Ring. I’ll look like an ant inside of this massive architectural thing. It’s really grand, not going to lie. Have a look. It feels like you’re inside the Titan’s foot. Just in case you are not aware of what’s behind this event, basically countries will go here and showcase their future plans, technologies, and for this one, I think they are highlighting sustainability. And of course, the main gist of it is how are they going to integrate that to their culture. It is a great way to persuade people to visit their country. For the lack of better term, I would say that this is the Olympics of tourism. Look at the interpretation of their character here. It’s quite different but really cool though. To get here, just search for Osaka Expo via Google Map and then it will give you your options in getting here using their public transportation. But here are some tips that might save you some time in getting here because I read and I saw some content saying that it is really hectic to go in this place because of some congestions. The first tip that I can give you in going here would be if you will search again Osaka Expo and if Benteno line will show up in your next point, forget about that and try to search for Homachi station first because they say that in Benteno there’s a congestion happening there. They’re trying to control the crowd. So, it’s best to jump on at Homachi station instead. And then from Homachi station, look for the Chu line. All right. and then go directly to Yumshima station which is the station made specifically for this world expo. You can definitely save some of your times keeping the Benteno line. Second tip that I can give you would be saving your QR code ticket in your phone because the internet or the mobile data here is quite of a challenge. So if you are going to load your QR code on the spot at the gate that might take some time. So it’s best to just screenshot it while you are still in hotel. Then once you reach the gate, you just have to scan it right away. Last tip that I can give you is bring your umbrella because this is an open space. I’m just lucky right now that it’s quite cloudy, but few hours ago it was raining cats and dogs and imagine if this is summer, man, it’s scorching heat will be a challenge for you. Bringing an umbrella as an extra layer of protection won’t hurt. Now, enough of that talking and let’s start exploring. This is the Vietnam Pavilion. There’s a long line already. No reservation required by the way. That is the format that they have here. So you already have your ticket, right? And then for you to visit or to enter this pavilions, you must have a reservation ticket. And based from what I knew and what I’ve experienced, some of them has this lottery system. So I applied like five or six pavilions and I didn’t want anything unfortunately. So now we’re just going to try our luck here, but we are going to prioritize the Philippine Pavilion. Side note, it is also possible to make a reservation one day ahead or same day, but definitely it will still take some of your time as they say. To my surprise, here the Philippine Pavilion has a premium spot, I would say, because it is right next to USA and then France. We have to burn some of our time here because there are only 20 persons allowed inside this massive pavilion. But that’s okay. Philippine represent, right? Apparently, the Philippine pavilion is called woven. So, it’s a word related. I think it’s a past tense of weaving. All right. Which is quite an integral part of the culture in the Philippines. And the art of weaving is actually vivid in the design of this pavilion. [Music] an opportunity to not a fiber of my being as a Filipino expected that we can actually produce something like this. I think I downplayed our country for quite some time until now. Wow, this is actually good. Like seriously good. As you guys know, Philippines is an archipelago made up of more than 7,000 islands. And it’s nice to see that they are highlighting almost each. And I totally understand the challenge of highlighting all of the strengths of each island, but it seems like they were able to showcase a good amount of it in here. For example, this one up north, the Kagrian Valley, you know, in Gazul Batanis is one of the most beautiful thing that is present in our country. And I myself I am dreaming of visiting that place. And of course in the central part of our country we have Cebu Bhol and it’s a very well-known island as well. Few years ago I was able to visit Antik and Iloilo. Food is amazing and the beaches as well breathtaking. The south part of the Philippines which is Mindanao is something that I have not yet explored yet but it’s nice to have a glimpse of their culture here. Dude, of course they have the central Luzon here. This is where I came from. I came from Pampanga. So, you know, Kapangan represent. Let’s go. They have here the giant lanterns. And yeah, even though Central Lone is quite hot, I think that’s quite normal in the Philippines. But, you know, the food there, it’s just amazing. I’m telling you, even the great Anthony Berdane commended the seas of Pampanga. Quick view of calabar zone mimaropa and as well as be region is here surfing. Let’s go in the middle of this pavilion. They have this technology. I would say it’s an AIish but it will copy or mimic your movement through a form of flower. I don’t know what that is to through an interpretation of nature. can create a form or shape through fishes and some elements that really represents our country, Philippines. Do you also see that background? That’s not Mount Fuji. That’s Mount Mayon. And I’m not going to lie, boys and girls, it seems like this is a very interesting part and a lot of people are enjoying. They’re actually dancing. And the last thing that you want to see is me dancing. And we are not going to do that. I’m just actually speechless with the Philippine Pavilion. To be honest with you, I didn’t expect that the weaving part will look so good with the modern technology. Let’s give it a try. Let’s see what would be my interpretation. So, it look like a flower. Yeah, look at that. So, it’s actually mimicking me. Last part of this pavilion is this photo booth and we’re going to give it a try. So, start accept. And then you choose your style or element. I’m not sure how many you can pick. Is it just one? I wanted two. So, but all right, let’s just pick banana. Have to remove our glasses. Oh, we have to scan our QR code. Then, let’s just wait. Still generating my image. [Music] Look at that chimp. That’s cool, though. All right. Not bad. Great art. Great art. I did not even see this happening. They have a helilot space here. So technically a massage area, but unfortunately all slots are fully booked for the day. Well, that means no massage for us. That’s good. It’s good. It’s okay. I genuinely enjoyed the Philippine Pavilion. Not because I’m being biased here cuz I’m from Philippines. No, it’s very interactive and at the same time, they’re really highlighting our culture plus the technology that we have. You can spend a good 30 minutes inside this woven. This architectural design was made by Carlo Kalma Consultancy. Very nice output. I really wanted to give this USA pavilion a try, but the long line is just too much for me. I think you have to spend probably 2 to 3 hours, I would say, or 2 hours at best. All of a sudden, France pavilion has a huge line already. I think I should have gone here first before going to the Philippines, but that’s fine. Still, I have zero regrets about that. Probably later there’s a good chance. Hopefully, the line will kind of die down. We are now in our next destination. This is the United Arab Emirates pavilion. This is looking exquisite. I have no idea what to what to expect inside, so everything will be a surprise for me. Same as the Philippine Pavilion. There’s no need for a reservation to go inside. This looks massive from the inside. I don’t know. Apparently, it’s an Emirati dagger. Very cool looking dagger, though. It is also nice to see that they’re highlighting their space capabilities inside the pavilion. I don’t know what this one is for, but let’s give it a try. Orbital space. All right. So, more of information about their uh astronaut program. Since the highlight of this event is sustainability, as you can see here, these are solar panels and they are moving because it gives them the ability to track the sunlight and gather energy in the entire day. How did I know that? Simply because I worked in a solar company before. The UAE pavilion has a restaurant inside. One more thing to consider in this Expo event is that this is a cashless place. So you have to use this Expo 2025 digital wallet that is currently integrated in their app. And definitely it is expected that the food here inside the pavilion are quite expensive. But if you want to have to save that extra budget, there are some convenience stores around and some food trucks as well. Speaking of food, it’s already 1:00 p.m. Time for us to eat. The closest thing that we found is this chicken wrap. I’m going to dive in. We finally have the chicken wrap over here for 1,500 yen. By the way, it’s confirmed. No cash transactions here, but you can use your Suika card or any IC card in payment. They also accept credit cards as far as I know. Food and a bit of performance is already done. Now, we are back on our track and we have here the Canada Pavilion and on its left is the Portugal Pavilion. Unfortunately for Canada, you need to have the reservation and we don’t have that obviously. So, we have to move forward and hopefully for Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal Pavilion. Let’s see. Let’s try our luck. It’s official, boys and girls. For the Portugal pavilion, there’s no need for any reservation tickets. From the outside of this pavilion, it looks like dangling ropes. That’s the easiest way to describe it. I get it now. It looks like an ocean wave, something close to that. For Portugal, who picked ocean as a theme for their pavilion is something that I did not expect at all. So, I’d say it is going to be full of surprises. Now, it totally makes sense. How come there are nets outside and ropes? because those things are quite used when it comes to fishing I guess or any ocean related sport or for boats I would say and it’s quite interactive as well as you can see over here and they’re highlighting some drones, wind turbines and other technological advancements that they have. So that serves as the first room. Now let’s move on to the next one. Oh shoot. This is a totally different world now. the ocean’s point of view. The Portugal pavilion is quite serious inside. Uh they call it the blue dialogue and if you are going to visit it, it will totally make sense because it stands as a reminder for us that we should take care of the ocean because you have to remember that if we will destroy it, ocean is not in danger. It’s us who is in danger. Overall, I would say this pavilion is a good reminder and eye opener of what is about to happen to us if we are going to take things for granted. I don’t want to be the party pooper or spoiler in this one. So, I will just leave the mystery in your mind right now. Yo, I think this is the most beautiful that I’ve seen so far. This is the Turkistan pavilion right beside Bahrain. And wow, this is stunning. It’s such a shame that I won’t be able to check what inside this pavilion because the line is quite absurd for me. I really can’t commit enough time to make up this long line. So, we have to move on. And just beside would be the Nordic Circle, which looks like a barn, a massive barn in the Kingdom of Sweden. Quite interesting, but again, the line is quite long. You have to dedicate, I would say, around 40 minutes as they say over there. And right next to it would be Malta. It’s a pure LED facade. And yeah, it looks good. Not bad. Czech Republic is actually here. And it looks like a building of mug. And then on its left side, this is quite interesting. First time for me to see a building that looks like it’s pulsating. Something like that. So it feels like it’s alive. I don’t know what country is this. Huh, intriguing. Let’s give it a try. Unfortunately, again, you need a reservation to enter this pavilion. And as you can see, very vivid. It’s beating, right? It’s moving. That’s why when I said a while ago that it looks like this building is alive, it’s because it moves. This one is the most intriguing pavilion in the entire expo. I’m not sure what country this is because it only says null squared. After that eerie feeling of that pulsating building, it’s nice to see something like this. Very serene, peaceful, and comforting at the same time. I don’t know what this is, but it looks like a modern Tory gate somewhere here near in the middle of the expo. This is a nice place that if you just want to breathe and relax. This is just a reminder. I know you’ve already heard this like a million times while watching our episodes, but guys, if you are considering in visiting or traveling other countries and if you have travel necessities such as pocket Wi-Fi, eim, amusement park tickets, even hotel bookings, please consider using cloak.com and take advantage of our promo code mad cornerclook to enjoy that 3 to 5% discount. Again, that is mad cornercl and don’t forget to use it. I really like the color combination of angola, red, white, and black. very simple yet striking. But unfortunately, it seems like they’re not yet open. So, don’t worry. Probably by the time that you’re watching this, there’s a good chance that they are already open. In the middle, you can find this Romania Pavilion. And probably later, we’re going to give that one a try. And then on its left side here, pure striking red pavilion. I don’t know what’s this one. Oman. All right. Pavilion of Oman. Wow, it’s just pure red madness with some touches of water shade, which is really cool. It doesn’t need any reservation. So, let’s give it a try. Feels like this is going to be a bloody experience, if you know what I mean. Look at that. I really like the effect of the water shadow effect at the upper part. Hopefully, it’s vivid in this video. It’s all right. [Music] That was a cosmic experience inside this Oman pavilion. They did showcase the history of their civilization which is very intriguing. I would say this is a learning experience for me. On top of that, this is how sleek this Oman pavilion is. Even though with its striking red, still it it kind of gives you a soft feeling, not harsh because of the slopes and the water that you can actually hear. Technically, they highlighted the elements of water and land. They have a cafe inside and right next to it is the stamping area and we’re going to get one. If you’re one of those people just like me who are trying their best to save every ounce that they can just bring your notebook or any kind of paper that you want and you can use that for the stamps that they have for each pavilion. And that’s what I did. This is the Poland pavilion and it looks cool in person. It looks like a swirl of the foam of your favorite coffee. And unfortunately the line will take us around 40 to 1 hour and I cannot spend that time for this one. So, let’s move on. Again, it’s already 300 p.m. in the afternoon, and we have to blitz things out. Now, I have a strong feeling that even if you will dedicate 2 days of your vacation here, it’s not going to be enough. Yo, this is the Netherlands pavilion, and it feels like it’s stack of paper. That’s how I see it, right? But there’s a long line. Sadly, I won’t be able to visit all of the pavilions here, even though if I really wanted to. It’s not just possible. I have no idea what this is, but quite interesting. It’s a giant, I don’t know, balloon with a smile and a heart. And then right in front, there’s a performance happening. I think it’s a stage play. Aside from the pavilions, there are patches of activities happening around the ring. So, you’ll never get bored in this place. By the way, the stage play that we just saw a while ago, it’s a comedy about two samurai fighting. And holy smokes, here we go, boys. We see the Gundam RX78 once again. Actually, this is the actual Gundam that is in display back in Yokohama. So, they moved it here. And as far as I know, this will be displayed in the entire duration of the expo. And right beside this Grandpa Gandam would be the Gandam Next Future Pavilion. Unfortunately, it’s a reservation only pavilion. And we’ve checked. You can still actually make your reservation now, but the closest time would be around 5:30 p.m. And as I do this, it’s already 3:30 p.m. So, there’s 2 hours of waiting time. I feel like 5:30 p.m. is a stretch for us in terms of our schedule. But look at that. There’s an Astro Boy sitting up there. Our next stop is going to be the Belgium Pavilion. And it feels like this is going to be a solid 30 to 40 minutes offline. So far, the start of this Belgium pavilion is relaxing. He also gave us free food. Now we are entering the second room. That looks like the suit of Black Panther. Is that made up of vibranium? We are about to enter the second floor and they’re saying that these are the flowers of hope. They’re also imprinted on the wall. There you go. Obviously, I cannot read this. I feel like this is the biggest pavilion that we’ve entered so far. Multiple floors and multiple rooms as well. And now we are in the upper level, but and we are still seeing this beautiful I’m not sure if I should call it waterfall. The Belgium pavilion is quite wild. I’m telling you because it is the largest that I’ve experienced here. It has multiple floors. And before you reach the top floor, you have two options. You if you just want to go here in the roof deck just like where we are right now, or you can check in and try their restaurant inside. But again, there’s a waiting time of 30 minutes. And if you are wondering what is the view from the roof deck of the Belgium pavilion, this is it. By the way, look at the clouds. Obviously, there’s going to be a massive rain in few minutes. It also feels like we have a bipolar weather here today. Uh during the morning, it was raining hard and it was just sudden coldness and then after a few hours it’s just peak summer level and then after a few hours this is it looks like it’s going to rain. So, make sure to bring your umbrella. To summarize the Belgium pavilion, it seems like they’re championing the health care system that they have. There was actually a line there that where they mentioned that they will be producing or they will be creating a vaccine to minimize the chances of cancer, HIV, those sorts of diseases. I’m not really sure about the details of that thing, but if some people are from Belgium out there, please let me know in the comment section about your health care system because as we grow old, we all know that health is wealth. Just in case you are curious, that is the grand ring. And yes, you can go up there and then walk the entire thing. Just like what I’ve mentioned a while ago, it has a total circumference of around 2 km. The Singapore Pavilion is quite promising visually speaking, but unfortunately it looks like there’s a massive again long line for this one. So I have to pass on it for now. Most pavilions that we saw are amazing. But unfortunately, again, it’s quite hard to spend our remaining time for the line. So, we ended up just browsing and walking and just seeing things from the outside. And if you have plans of visiting this world expo here in Osaka, I would suggest, realistically speaking, if you want to visit all of them, I will dedicate three days. Three full days. Look at this cute part of this expo. There is a play area for kids. It looks like a massive pit and kids are playing there. I really wish I have more time to spend in this expo, but again, realistically speaking, that’s not just possible for us for now. Plus, by the looks of this kind of clouds and weather, there’s going to be a huge rain waiting for us. So, I’m going to pack my bags now and we’re going to leave. If you have any suggestions, please let me know in the comment section. And if you’re not yet subscribed in our channel, please hit that subscribe button down below. that will really help me moving forward in growing our channel. And it’s already starting to rain. We have to run. Ooh, this one looks cinematic though. If you guys miss our watch content, make sure to stay tuned because next week you’re going to love it. And that is it for me on this episode, boys and girls, I hope you enjoyed watching. And this kind of completes our first ever World Expo experience. And definitely I’ll see you again next week for another episode. Mad Corner, I’m out. Hit the dance floor. Don’t work too hard.

In this episode, I take you on a raw, unfiltered journey through the bustling streets of Osaka and the quiet corners of Kyoto. Two cities pulsing with culture, flavor, and surprises. We’re not just here to eat and admire temples. We’re here for JDM watches, vintage gems, and secondhand finds you won’t see anywhere else.

But be warned, this is not your typical Osaka or Kyoto travel guide. This is about the hunt. The thrill of finding that one vintage JDM piece buried in a pawnshop, or lost among shelves in a BookOff Super Bazaar that smells like old plastic and quiet desperation. Sometimes, it includes the conversations you have without speaking. Just nods, gestures, and a shared respect between you and a Japanese shopkeeper who knows exactly what you’re looking for.

Osaka hits you in the face the second you arrive. Namba’s alive and twitching with color, food stalls coughing up steam, Don Quijote’s flashing madness burning your ears with the don don donki music. But beneath the noise are gems that even I myself is not expecting at all.

And then there’s Kyoto. Everyone talks about the temples, the geisha district, the bamboo groves. But I was here for something else and my intention is precise like a second hand in your watch. A city that wears time like a well-worn kimono. Under the tourist gloss are secondhand stores where I will be pushing my luck and see where it will go. Watches that have outlived trends, tasted decades, and now sits quietly waiting for someone who gets it. But do not be fooled because it is not always sunshine and rainbows here. Sometimes we hit, sometimes we miss.

If you’re looking for the best places to buy watches in Osaka or Kyoto, if you’re into secondhand shopping in Japan, if you just want to feel like you’re wandering the backstreets with a pocketful of yen and no particular plan, then you are about to consume the correct content. And yeah, I’ll show you how to get to these places too. Train by train. Stop by stop. No nonsense.

I’ll be honest with you, I might not help you completely as a tourist guide for your Kansai trip. But I will show you the other side of Osaka and Kyoto. The side that doesn’t care if you’re a tourist or a collector. It’s just waiting for you to show up and pay attention.

What to expect at Osaka World Expo 2025 Japan and this episode might help you smoothen things before you arrive. First things first, this event is being held once in every five years and for 2025, I got lucky that my Osaka trip is within the event period which is April 13, 2025 to October 13, 2025. Just in case you will miss it, the next World Expo will happen at Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

I got really excited on this once after seeing the Philippine Pavilion which exceeded my expectation. I’m not downplaying my beloved country but I did not expect that it can pull off something like that. Not to mention, the people inside the pavilion from other countries are genuinely enjoying inside. Watch the entire episode to see why.

Unfortunately for me, I was not able to visit popular pavilions like USA, Gundam Future Pavilion and others because they require a reservation or just because of a long line. But that did not hinder us in enjoying this event. Countries like Portugal, UAE, Oman, Belgium does not require any and other pavilions too!

Portugal Pavilion in Osaka World Expo 2025 is an eye opener for us and I do recommend checking it out. It is not the best but it will provide a good lesson!

This episode What to expect at Osaka World Expo 2025 Japan is just a glimpse of this massive event and I feel like it requires 2 to 3 days just to see everything. Hopefully you can dedicate a bit of your time in watching the entire episode of our first ever World Expo in Osaka, Japan this 2025.
