a solo daytrip to mt fuji during sakura season 🗻🌸 | life in japan

The next station is now [Music] the law. You know the one. Is it worth it? This place is iconic. Wasn’t able to get the last bus back. I’m in a fever dream. Grateful to be here. [Music] [Music] Motherchech. [Music] [Music] Hi guys, welcome back. Welcome. Today I am doing a solo day trip to Mount Fuji. Literally, where is he? Where is Mount Fuji? Anyway, I’ll insert a clip. I have lived in Japan for a year and a half almost now, and I still haven’t gone out to go see Mount Fuji. I’ve seen Mount Fuji before, but I’ve never gone to Kokucha, which is where we are today. This is Yamanashi Prefecture, which is where Mount Fuji is situated. Right now, it is the cherry blossom season. The cherry blossoms are still blooming at this part of Japan. So, I’m hoping to get all the beautiful views in. And I’m so excited. So, let’s go. Guys, look. There’s a monkey. Do you see that? Oh my god. Okay, we made it. The cherry blossoms are beautiful, but oh my god, it is busy. [Music] Guys, this hike is no joke. Especially when the weather today is like 29° peak. It’s a lot more tiring. But we’re getting there. [Music] There’s also an option to take like a ramp up, like a pathway up, but I’m going to stick to the stairs. Okay, guys. We are now lining up. It goes all the way up and around. I feel like it’s probably going to take maybe half an hour to an hour. We’ll see. I should have brought an umbrella. I almost contemplated, but I didn’t. And now I regret it. Okay, wish me luck. [Music] Sunday night. [Music] Almost there. We’re next in line. I’m at the front. I waited for the next group so I could get the best spot. Hopefully, we can. We’ll see. Okay, we’re going. So beautiful. Where’s the best spot? [Music] Oh my god, guys. I feel like I’m in a movie right now. This is crazy. We only have 5 minutes, though. So, I’m going to take my photos. [Music] We’re here at the so beautiful and cherry blossom. [Music] So, I finished up at the pagod and it was so beautiful. Like, we got so lucky with the weather and the cherry blossoms being in full bloom. It was actually really nice because while I was up there, this lovely person called Emily came and we helped each other take photos and now we’re just taking photos at this pagod. It is so beautiful. So, thank you. No worries. My pleasure. [Music] [Music] [Music] We are heading down the pagod. I think we’re going to go get lunch now cuz we’ve been here for like a couple of hours. I didn’t realize how long I would spend here, but it’s so beautiful. [Music] [Music] Look at these apples. They’re huge. I don’t know if you can see that. It’s like the size of my hand. They’re like 600 yen just for one. So good. Can’t believe this is my life right now. I just said bye to Emily. Emily, if you’re watching this, it was so lovely meeting you. So, I’m actually heading to Poncho Street. Really popular street where people take photos. I don’t know how busy it’s going to be, so we’re going to go and find out. This street is so beautiful. Like, there’s the mountains in the background and then also the cherry blossom trees. Some just ahead. It’s so hot today as well. I should have come prepared and brought my UV umbrella, but I didn’t. So, I might end up sunburnt by the end of the day. It’s currently 2:00 p.m. I spent like 3 hours in total there at the Pagod, which is crazy, but it was so beautiful. I don’t regret spending more time there than I expected. We’ll just see what else we can get done today. [Music] It’s nice to like be away from the crowds again. Walking around the back streets of Kuchiko and there’s no one here. We love that. [Music] I’m enjoying this piece so much, but I’m coming back into the main street where I can see tourists again. I know I’m a fellow tourist, but you know this building. So cool. [Music] Okay guys, this is the spot. [Music] Tell you what, [Music] I get one of these and a coffee as well. [Music] Nice little [Music] [Music] [Music] Look, the lady beetle landed on my tree. Cute. Where did you come from? I went for a walk and I found Mlanc. This place is iconic because it’s featured in a TV show that I’m watching at the moment called Hotspot on Netflix. In the show, they go to this specific cafe and this is it. But the line is so long. So, I’m actually not going to line up to eat inside. I just came to look at it from the outside cuz apparently the inside is not the same set. It’s just the outside that’s the same. But damn. [Music] You know, it’s actually wild how busy it is in the touristy sections and then as soon as you leave the main street absolutely nobody and like yeah the views aren’t like as famous but like the peace and quiet I can still see Mount Fuji. It’s still just as beautiful in my opinion. So if you’re ever visiting like go for a stroll in the back streets because it’s really nice. I’m now walking towards the train station to catch a train to Kuchiko. So I’m going to go to Lawson. You know the Lawson, you know the one. I’m going to sus out the vibes. cuz I feel like it’s going to be way too busy, but we’ll try and get a shot of some sort. It’s currently 4:00 p.m. I’m very glad I came out here as early as I could. I almost came here a bit later. I would have had no time to do it all. So, I’m already tired. I think I’ve done 70 steps already. Let’s check. Oh, I’ve done 10,000, but I still have a lot more to go. All right, let’s get the train. [Music] The next station is now. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Okay, that was a bit stressful getting through Kovichko station. It’s just packed with tourists. Everyone’s stressed. I don’t know what’s going on. I was just trying to leave. Now we’re going to head to the Lawson, but I already have a bad feeling about how busy this is going to be. There it is. Is it worth it? No. Next bus stop. My gosh. Okay, I’m finally off that bus. It’s very stressful. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] Yeah, I’ll leave it at that. But I thought I would get off a little bit earlier because I’m kind of running out of time. Rather than going to Wish Park, which was what I was originally going to do, I have decided to come to this area around the lake that has cherry blossoms. You can see them. We’re going to take some photos. Hopefully Mount Fuji is still visible in the distance. And then I’m actually thinking of walking back to Kawagucha station which is literally like a 50minute walk. But otherwise I’m just going to have like no time to just enjoy it. I might just walk back cuz it’ll be a nice walk around the lake. But we’ll see how we go. 50 minutes is quite a hefty walk. Such a lovely walk. There’s Fuji. There’s the trees. [Music] I’ll show you [Music] around the restoration. I love it. [Music] That’s a dog. [Music] This is so beautiful. I can’t believe that I’m seeing this right now. To see the cherry blossoms and Mount Fuji together at once with good weather, it’s just incredible. I’m so grateful to be here. [Music] Guys, there’s a cat. Yummy. I’ve just perched myself on a little rock. You can’t see it because I’m sitting on it. I’m just taking in the view of Mount Fuji. The sun is setting. It’s so beautiful. It’s really calm out here as well. Very nice vibe. I’m so sad that I have to go back. I wish I could have stayed the night, but a day trip, you can still achieve a lot, which is good. wasn’t able to get the last bus back. So, now we must begin the hour walk back. My feet already hurt. I think I’ve already done so many steps today. I’ve done 13,000 steps. So, we’re going to add a lot more on now. Why did I decide to do this? Okay, let’s go back now. Going to miss this view. I should come back soon. Okay, guys. I’m on my walk home now. I’m currently on the bridge. I’m maybe about a third of the way there, maybe halfway. And there’s fireworks in the distance. I feel like I’m in a fever dream. What is happening right now? Look at the fireworks. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] I’ve actually come inside the Lawson, the infamous one. They have the Mount Fuji jellies as well as like a whole bunch of merch. Fuji bag plushies. They’re so cute. Yeah, I don’t think I’m going to buy anything though. But very cute. Okay, guys. I lied. I bought the Fuji jelly cuz it’s from the Lawson, so it had to be done. I don’t know what the flavor is. We’ll see. [Music] Thank you guys for watching. Appreciate it so much. I will see you guys later. Aunt Fuji and I say goodbye. Bye.
