50+ Daily Vlog | Traditional Japanese Shopping Street – Osu District #japan #dailyvlogs #nagoya
hi everyone my name’s Penny and welcome to my channel and those returning it’s good to see you back my name’s Penny and I’m in my 50s from New Zealand I moved to Japan in September 24 to fulfill a dream of mine and will be attending Langer School in April this year in October last year due to some underlying health conditions I had barcc surgery in Thailand now that’s another story anyway my journey is all about embracing change learning new skills and exploring Japan and Beyond it would be great if you’d join me and be part of the community so let’s get going the oo shopping district is a huge and popular shopping area since Theo period that’s hundreds of years ago let’s start with the history the streets named after this Temple called OSU Canon Temple this beautiful Buddhist temple was built in the 14th century you can even feed the pigeons here umbrellas may be necessary there’s a flea market and antique Fair held on these grounds twice a month so we will come back here and have a look let’s get going have you got your walk-in shoes on U shopping street has over a th000 shops of restaurants that’s a lot of exploring there’s electrical appliance stores secondhand clothing stores and of course restaurants and food stores so it can be challenging if you’re watching your waistline however you do walk around a lot so at least that’s burning calories [Music] surely the store coming up on the left with all the do you go on the small door to get to the shop is Alice on Wednesday it’s a takeoff from Alice in Wonderland it sells cute sweets and accessories and miscellaneous Goods an interesting fact is now Japan charges for plastic bags so it’s a good idea to get a material bag these ones are so cute [Music] Japan has a lot of weird and wonderful traits you’ll see a lot of these here at the mall and also super cute accessories [Music] I thought I’d show you this store it’s got amazing Mochi for sale doesn’t it look beautiful it looks too good to eat [Music] a lot of the smaller shops are Pack full of products always feel nervous going in and looking around cuz I think my handbag is going to knock all the products off the shelves is it me who just thinks this [Music] way so we’re going across the row to the other section of the mall [Music] these items are heat packs and they have hand warmers as well and also feet warmers and so if you’re coming to Japan during the winter I’d recommend you getting some of those they keep warm all day so you just stick them on like your vest under your under your clothes [Music] [Music] sugar Kia is a popular Ramen chain in Japan prices are cheap but it’s still very tasty [Music] if you come to ncoa plan your visit on a weekday Monday to Thursday just to avoid larger crowds the shopping street is generally less busy during these days which allows a more leisurely experience the weekends can get quite busy and crowded visiting in the late afternoon or early evening can be quite magical as the street lights illuminate the area and many food stores come alive now how long should you spend here most people spend around 2 to 4 hours you can easily spend an hour or two shopping and another hour enjoying the food and maybe an hour exploring the temple and other sites but honestly you could easily spend a whole day getting to Oso is easy you can take the subway to Oso Canon station or Sakaya station and it’s also accessible by bus [Music] hey [Music] n [Music] [Music] hey [Music] hey hey [Music] he [Music] he [Music] he [Music] heyy [Music] [Music] he [Music] he [Music] [Applause] hey hey [Music] [Music] n [Music] hey [Music] hey [Applause] hey hey [Music] [Music] he [Music] also especially known for it secondhand stores come here is a secondhand store and they sell clothes by the weight this is the 1 Yen per gam Section 3 Yen per gram and the clothes look pretty [Music] reasonable this is 5 Yen per gram and they had some really nice PS in here I actually found myself a coat it’s made in Spain and it was fully lined so it was a good bargain 8,250 yen [Music] he [Music] hey [Music] [Music] we’ve come to benoi Temple this is historically significant Temple it holds deep connections to the powerful odor Clan particularly Oda Nobu nanga one of Japan’s most famous Warlords the temple was originally built in 1540 near ngoya Castle but destroyed by a fire then rebuilt at its current location in 1610 it was destroyed again during World War II but it was reconstructed along with the surrounding shopping arcade [Music] another thing I like about Japan is the vendy machines now here’s a vending machine that sells the garlic based spicy hot sauce [Music] he [Music] he [Music] hey [Music] [Music] he [Music] he [Applause] [Music] [Music] he oh [Music] he [Applause] d [Music] [Music] n [Music] he [Music] [Applause] [Music] so there you have it a quick look around OSU shopping district in ngoya it’s a fantastic place to explore so if you’re ever in Nya be sure to check it out thank you so much for watching and I hope you enjoyed the walk with me please like comment and subscribe until next time catch you later [Music]

Its actually great you moved out to a place to follow your dream. Its amazing.
You are improving with every video! So proud!!! Also looking at the food is making me already salivate. (っ˘ڡ˘ς)
Every day must be an adventure there. I haven't studied abroad since 2004. Hope you are having a wonderful time!
Wow! more like you need a week to see everything, i love second had stores but i don't think they'll have my size im big weight 150lbs shoes sz 9 but i like going on walks with you! enjoy!
❤
Some of the shops look like Kappabashi in Asakusa….are the prices about the same do you think?
Hey do you not have other background music this one’s getting old 🫤
Great to see the Nagoya content. But just a heads up – shopping malls are not public areas in Japan, and the rules about filming people that show their faces etc. mean you should not show their faces. Of course it is not an issue unless someone complains, but worth considering. Perhaps talk to some other YouTubers who shoot in Japan and ask how they go about it? It would be a shame if your content had to be taken down 🙁
OMG I also worry about my handbag hitting everything. I am quite tall too so I feel like a bull in a china shop. I did get a backpack style purse and that seems slightly less dangerous but I have actually accidentally smacked other, shorter patrons with my bag in the narrow stores, whoops!
another lovely video, than you! your videos make my day – always. so looking forward to them. please don't stop making them, and don't change your style or presentation. it is precisely what makes your videos so uniquely "yours" that I cherish them so. so natural and true to life. they don't pander for the masses or try emulate some other channels. really admirable.
Your videos are wonderful to watch Pennie and I love the coat you bought. I could spend a whole day just shopping there.
