First up, you absolutely have to hit Kenrokuen Garden. Seriously, it’s one of Japan‘s top three gardens for a reason. It’s HUGE and just stunning no matter what time of year you go. For a dose of samurai history, wander through the Nagamachi Samurai District. It‘s got these cool canals and old earthen walls, and you can even peek inside the Nomura Samurai House to see how those guys lived. Pretty neat!

This place is Kanazawa’s ”kitchen,“ and it‘s buzzing with fresh seafood from the Sea of Japan, local veggies, and tons of delicious street food. You absolutely can’t leave without trying some fresh sushi or a seafood bowl. Your taste buds will thank you!

Finally, for something a bit different, pop into the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art. It‘s got this super cool, circular design and some really interactive exhibits, including that famous ”Swimming Pool“ art piece where it looks like you’re underwater. So much fun!

Kanazawa is seriously a hidden gem with so much to offer – history, art, amazing food, and just good vibes all around. Get this city on your Japan bucket list, stat! You won‘t regret it!
