MANILA – Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) announced Tuesday the relaunch of its nonstop services between Manila and Sapporo, Japan starting Nov. 24.

The thrice-weekly services, however, will be offered only until March 27, 2026, and every winter season from November to March.

“This route not only provides a convenient travel option for Filipino tourists and overseas workers, but also opens doors for Japanese travelers to explore and experience the Philippines’ vibrant culture and warm hospitality,” PAL President Richard Nuttall said in a statement.

He added that the reopening of PAL’s direct flights from Manila to Sapporo would help strengthen bilateral relations and cultural ties with Japan.

PAL will utilize a 168-seater Airbus A321neo for the Sapporo route every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

The Tan-led carrier used to fly directly to Sapporo from December 2018 to March 2020.

Sapporo is popular for winter activities and the Sapporo Snow Festival.

Earlier in January, Gokongwei-led airline Cebu Pacific (CEB) also launched thrice-weekly services between the Ninoy Aquino International Airport and the New Chitose International Airport.

Ambassador of Japan to the Philippines Endo Kazuya graced CEB’s maiden flight ceremony, encouraging Filipinos to visit and make Hokkaido their next destination. (PNA)
