JP07 – Hiroshima & Miyajima Day Trip 🇯🇵 | Then vs Now, Peace Park & Floating Shrine

Hello friends, welcome back to Traveling Checklist. Today we are going to Hiroshima and Miyajima. So we are now in the Shinkansen train, which is the Sakura Shinkansen. It’s around 9.20 pm and it will take us to Hiroshima in about 2 hours. Sakura Shinkansen is included in our Kansai Hiroshima Pass. But we have to sit in non-reserved seats. Non-reserved seats are in 1, 2 and 3 car numbers. So you can come and sit in that. And the first come first served basis is there. Let’s go to Hiroshima and show you Hiroshima and Miyajima. We have reached the Hiroshima station and now we will go to Miyajima Island first. After that we will go to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial. To go to Miyajima Island, you will have to exit from the Shinkansen track of Hiroshima first. After exiting, you will have to go to the JR transfer site. So from the JR platform, we have to catch the local line of Sanyo, which will take us to Miyajima Guchi station. It’s about half an hour away from here and from Miyajima Guchi station we will catch a ferry. The ferry will take us to Miyajima Island in about 10-15 minutes. So all these Miyajima ferries and the JR line are included in our Kansai Hiroshima Pass. So we have used Kansai Hiroshima Pass properly till now. This is the front line, 123, we have to go to number 1. And from here, every 15 minutes, the Sanyo line train goes for Miyajima Guchi. We will take that train. So this is the train that is going to Miyajima Guchi. There is a crowd here. Let’s go, we will also sit. So we have reached Miyajima Guchi station and now we are going to the ferry terminal. It’s straight, they have made a path as soon as we left. We have to go straight from here. We have to walk for about 5 minutes. There is the ferry terminal in front. Let’s go there. So we have reached the JR ferry terminal. What happens here is that with your JR pass, there is an additional Rs.100 card, some visitor tax. So you can either buy it or put it on the line or just put your IC card on it. And you can go there using the IC card. So our ferry is 11.40. It’s 11.37 now. So this is the same ferry in which people are boarding. Let’s go in it. There is a lot of crowd. But it’s okay, everyone will go. So hello, we have finally reached Miyajima Island. And this is our ferry port terminal from where we have just come. And that is Hiroshima* –> Miyajjimaguchi. And now we will go behind me, which you are seeing, the tori gate. And behind me, which you are seeing, the tori gate. The famous floating tori gate. This tori gate is built in the Itsukushima shrine. It’s a 10-minute walking from here. And we will go on foot from here. And this tori gate was initially built in the 12th century. But the version we are seeing now, it was built in 1875. And after that, it is painted every 20 years. Because it is in water. And every 20 years it is painted. Which is of our Saffron color. And if you see, it has no foundation or anything. It is covered in mud. Now we will go towards it. And let’s see, let’s see it from a distance. Because today the water is quite high tide. So it is seen floating. Otherwise, sometimes it happens that because of the low tide, people can reach it by walking. So let’s go to the Itsukushima shrine. And let’s see it from a distance. So there are a lot of wild deers roaming around here. But I haven’t seen as many as there were in Nara. There were a lot in Nara. There is a lot of fast food here. Like you are getting grilled oysters. And you are getting oyster grilled buns, bread. And a sweet here is also famous. By Momoji Manju. We will also see that if we get it, we will try. And maybe we won’t be able to do it this way. So now we are entering the Itsukushima shrine. This is the shrine on which the tori gate is hosted. So this is the famous floating tori gate in front of us. And you have a view point outside the shrine. And you can see it inside the shrine. Everyone is taking photos here. So let’s see what is there to go there. If there is a more expensive ticket or if there is more crowd, then we will not go. Otherwise, let’s go. Otherwise, this is the floating tori gate. Now we have come to the Itsukushima shrine. Its entry ticket is around 300 yen. So you can buy it. By the way, it is also a very good shrine to see. The people who also take photos from here. So you can come if you want to come to the Itsukushima shrine. So what you are seeing behind me is the floating shrine of Itsukushima. So now we have taken a photo in this line. What you are seeing is the line to take a photo. It took about 15 minutes. But it was fine. And it is a good spot to take a photo. So if you come inside, you can take a photo here. And behind me is the whole Itsukushima shrine. This is also very beautiful to visit. If we talk about the main attraction in Miyajima, then this is it. Itsukushima shrine and this floating tori gate. Now let’s go back. Let’s try some snacks and then we will go back to Hiroshima. So friends, we are now in Miyajima Island. And the name of Miyajima that literally translates to sacred island. So here in ancient times, death and birth were banned here. Because it was considered so sacred. And I am still seeing that this is the kind of sacred. Because we have been here for almost an hour and a half. And we haven’t found any dustbin yet. So I think they are taking it seriously. So let’s go there now. And eat some things like biscuits and cookies. And here you get a sweet called Momochimanju. Let’s try that too. And there must be some other outlet. But Starbucks is everywhere. You will find so many Starbucks in Japan. I mean, there is Starbucks in Gyeon. Here in Miyajima Island, Starbucks is made. And you will find Starbucks somewhere in every small street. There will be Starbucks at metro stations. So let’s see, let’s eat this. Fried creamy Momochimanju. Let’s eat this. So friends, we are now buying Fried Momiji Manju. They have fried it with red bean paste. Looks nice. It’s sweet and tasty. You can come here and buy the fried one. So now let’s go back to Paris. And now let’s go to Hiroshima from here. Not from here, from here. There are two types of ferries from Hiroshima to Miyajima. One is JR ferries and one is Matsudai ferries. Matsudai ferries will be private. JR ferries will be government. So if you have a JR pass, then come from JR ferries. The price is almost the same. So it’s time to say goodbye to Miyajima. Let’s leave from here. We have already come on the ferry. It’s a 10 minute ferry ride. And after that we have reached Miyajima. And from there it will be a 30 minute train ride. It’s 2 o’clock now. Let’s try if we can wrap up everything by 6 o’clock. Then we will reach Hiroshima. So friends, we have landed at Yokogawa station. From here we will take a tram. To go for the Atomic Dome, which is in Hiroshima. Atomic Dome. And from there, Peace Memorial Park is also there. So let’s go now. It will come in about 2-3 minutes. So this is the tram. Which goes towards Hiroshima port, number 7. We are going to go through this. So friends, we were in the tram here in Hiroshima. So there is one thing here. Apart from the train, all public transport systems your flat charges are charged here. For example, this one costs 240 yen. And the buses we travelled in Kyoto, it cost 230 yen. So flat charges are charged. Flat means that whether you go from point A to B, or from point A to F, your money will cost you 240 to 230. So whenever you use anything apart from the train, you can keep that thing in mind. So friends, it’s only 20 steps away from the tram station. The atomic bomb dome. The building on which the bomb exploded. The atomic bomb didn’t fall down completely. It exploded a little bit upwards. So that building, that building was surviving a little bit. But everything around it was flat. So now we are going to that building. So friends, this is the atomic bomb dome. It’s called Gimbaku Dome. So this, the first bomb that fell on August 6, 1945, not in America, but in Japan, it exploded at a height of about 600 meters. It was a terror attack. So because of that, this building survived. But everything around it, within a radius of 2 km, all of it became ashes. So the first atomic bomb that was there on Hiroshima, almost 200,000 people were killed by it. And because of the radiation, which ruined their future generations later, we don’t even have a count of that. They then renovated this dome again. And now they are going to keep it forever, until the atomic weapons leave the earth. Although the bomb had destroyed everything at that time, but now look, how nicely Hiroshima has built itself. And I think, this is what humanity is. We won’t give up. So friends, now we are in Hiroshima. What you are seeing behind me, this is the atomic bomb dome. The feeling of this place is very heavy. And it is very peaceful. And because its past is connected with some serious incidents. So now we are going to the Peace Memorial and the museum here. What you are seeing in front of me is the Children’s Peace Monument. This is dedicated to all the children who were victims of the atomic bomb. This is also famous for Sadako and Hazan Kareens. Sadako was a 2-year-old girl who was exposed to radiation. And around 10 years later, she had blood cancer. After which she died. After that, people collected money from about 3200 schools and built this peace monument. On top of this, there is a golden crane in her hand. So this monument is dedicated to all these children. So friends, what you are seeing in front of me is called the Flame of Peace. It has been going on for a long time since the bomb fell here and since the renovation took place. And it will continue to burn until all nuclear weapons are destroyed. So on one side, we have the Flame of Peace. And on the northern end, we have the Pond of Peace. This was also built in 1964. So now we are going to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum. And this Peace Memorial Park which was the park behind, is somewhere in that area. Now let’s see how many tickets there are and how to go there. We have come to the museum. And its ticket was about 200 Yen. Now we are going inside. I don’t think videography will be allowed. So let’s meet you after coming back and then we will tell you how it was. So we have come to the Peace Museum. And it is quite heavy to see the effects of atomic bombs. I don’t know how much I should tell you. Even if you know, you may not have seen or experienced them. But you come to the museum and there are photos of survivors inside. Those who could not survive, there are their clothes. You will understand the real effects of nuclear weapons by seeing the buildings. So if you want to experience that, then you must come here. Because I will not be able to tell you how it feels inside. So you can come to see all that. So now it’s time to go back. So today is the end of the day of Hiroshima. And today’s trip was a little heavy on the vibe side. So tomorrow we will meet you at a new place. Tomorrow we will take you to a very nice, extra-grammable place which is called Amano Hashidate. It is about 3-4 hours away from Osaka. And if you liked the video, then please like the video and share and subscribe this channel. Till then, bye-bye. See you tomorrow. Keep Travelling.
