Oklahoma City — Tamashii Ramen House, Oklahoma’s beloved destination for authentic Japanese ramen, is celebrating its tenth anniversary with Tamashii Takeover!

Proprietors promise this will be “a five-day culinary and cultural celebration like no other.”

From July 16–20, the Norman location will host a visiting Japanese chef and crew from Kanagawa, Japan for an immersive dining experience that showcases traditional ramen-making techniques and flavors straight from Japan.

“We’re thrilled to bring Chef Kaneko and his team’s artistry to Norman for this special event,” said Tamashii Ramen House owner, Wakana Sebacher.

“Our guests look forward to this unique pop-up culinary experience every year.”

Founded in 2014 by husband-and-wife duo Matthew and Wakana Sebacher, Tamashii Ramen House has grown into a local institution with locations in Norman, Edmond, and Oklahoma City’s Midtown district.

What began as a dream rooted in family, culture, and craftsmanship has grown into a community staple that’s touched thousands of lives — one steaming bowl at a time.

Enter to Win a Trip to Japan for Two

As part of the anniversary celebration, Tamashii fans can enter for a chance to win a trip for two to Japan.

The contest will be hosted across Tamashii’s social media channels. No purchase necessary.

“Tamashii” means “soul” in Japanese — and that spirit is what defines every dish, every visit, and every story behind the ramen.

Over the past decade, Tamashii has been recognized not just for its flavorful bowls, but for its heartfelt story, local engagement, and commitment to cultural authenticity.

Matthew Sebacher continues to travel to Japan regularly to deepen his skills and bring new dishes back to Oklahoma diners.

“Our goal was never to just open a restaurant,” said owner Matthew Sebacher.

“It was to create an experience that truly respects the roots of ramen and share that with our Oklahoma community.”

About Tamashii: Wakana Sebacher, born and raised in Okinawa, Japan, brought with her a lifelong passion for hospitality and tradition. Matthew Sebacher, a Missouri native and Iraq War veteran, fell in love with both Wakana and her family’s home-cooked ramen. After traveling to Japan to learn from top ramen masters, he dedicated himself to honoring the techniques, flavors, and authenticity of the cuisine. From their first Midtown location to bustling restaurants in Edmond and Norman, Tamashii’s story is one of grit, family, and the fusion of two cultures through food.
