GB350 Ride to Cape Kamui Hokkaido – Epic Roads & Scenic Views | Day 2

It’s early, but everything is already alive. A new day in motion. The hunter greets the morning too. Before sleep,
a moment to breathe and be still. Before the morning,
there was the endless night. Morning ritual —
140 yen. Ready to ride. And then—
the road calls. Yesterday, I stayed for a night
at the Higashi Onuma Campground,
and it was really amazing. First of all, it’s completely free. Even so, it has a cooking area, restrooms,
and you can enjoy Lake Onuma up close. You can’t ride your motorcycle
into the campsite, so you do have to carry your gear a bit, which is a bit of a hassle,
but that’s really the only downside. If this were on the mainland, I bet a campsite like this would easily cost
several thousand yen per night. Anyway, I was able to wake up to
the most perfect morning. Right now,
I’m riding from Onuma towards Cape Kamui. It’s about 200 kilometers, so it should take
around three hours to get there. From Ōnuma to Cape Kamui Cape Kamui is an 80-meter-high cape that
juts out into the Sea of Japan from the
northwestern part of the Shakotan Peninsula. In the past, it was a place
where women were forbidden to enter. Walking along the undulating trail known as
“Charenka no Komichi” for about 20 minutes
will lead you to the very tip of the cape. From this scenic viewpoint, you can enjoy
a 300-degree panoramic view. Here, the striking “Shakotan Blue” of the sea
and the gently curved horizon give you
a real sense of the Earth’s roundness. I’m looking forward to
experiencing it for myself. From here to Cape Kamui is quite a long ride,
so I’ve edited the video down
from about an hour to just a few minutes. I carefully selected and condensed the footage,
and set it to a song created by AI. The lyrics were written by me. I made this song
after I completed my tour around Hokkaido. It’s about that feeling of excitement
I used to have as a kid, even when just riding my bicycle
to the next town—
something that still stays with me today. I hope you’ll take a moment to listen closely
to the lyrics as you watch. So, here’s the song.
I hope you enjoy it! Do you remember the thrill When we were kids, riding our bikes
To a town we’d never seen Crossing the river, under the bridge It felt like a land untouched
A world unknown wrapped around me Let it roll Let it roll Let it roll The wind decides where I’ll go Now the bike has changed its form Wheels bigger, engine strong But that childhood rush remains Heading into the unknown
That’s all the drive I ever need Let it roll Let it roll Let it roll Seagull asked me “Where are you flying today?” I smiled and said “I haven’t decided yet.” He laughed and cried
“Me neither, friend!” I said
“The wind will guide us on.” He said “We’re the same, you and I.” Let it roll Let it roll Let it roll No matter where this road may lead All I need is the ride Chasing dreams, chasing freedom Riding wild with open eyes Let it roll Let it roll Let it roll Chasing that endless horizon Wheels spinning, spirits high Let it roll Let it roll Let it roll Made it to Cape Kamui Nature Conservation Donation
100 yen Open Hours: 8:00 AM – 6:30 PM Cape Kamui – Entrance The Famous Shakotan Blue Onward to the Cape Scenic Spots Everywhere The trail goes on.
My riding gear = personal sauna. Still going… almost cooked. Epic views done.
Back to reality. Water – 120 yen Tsurukame Onsen – 850 yen Meal – 1,562 yen
Including a cutlet sandwich…
stolen by a crow. Campsite – 2,800 yen
Originally planned a free site,
but no toilets and it wasn’t
an official campsite.
Ended up here
thanks to the kind owner. Visited Yoichi Distillery,
famous for Nikka Whisky.
Tour needed a reservation,
and it was fully booked today. I booked for tomorrow morning.
