10 Amazing Japanese Street Food 🧁🍵 Tokyo Asakusa
Let’s enjoy food-hopping in Asakusa, a place with a lot of history in Tokyo!! You can reach the shopping street lined with many shops once you pass through the Kaminarimon (Thunder Gate), which is one of the landmarks of Asakusa. Let’s dive in! The artisan is filling the molds with dough. They’re putting a lot of sweet red bean paste in there. This shop makes “Ningyo-yaki (Japanese doll-shaped sponge cake), a popular treat in Asakusa. Amazingly, everything is handmade by skilled men, not machines. They make each one carefully by hand. They show us their excellent performance. We get to have the freshly made Ningyo-yaki. I can feel the heat through the paper bag. Each one has a different look and shape. This one is probably a Japanese lantern. The outside is crispy a bit, and the sweet red bean paste inside is delicious!! This is the five-storied pagoda, a Buddhist architecture with five-storied roofs. The red bean paste is literally packed inside. I don’t know who he is, but he looks strong. A bell, I guess. A turtle. A pigeon And beyond that, there’s a real pigeon. We ate the freshly made ones, but they must be good even served cold. Happy pigeons, with so much food falling around. It was delicious. Next, we’re heading to a residential area near the shopping street. This stylish place is a specialty potato shop. You can choose a sauce, whatever you want. Wow, this looks so good!! I went with honey mustard and sour cream onion sauce. I gotta eat these fries before they get cold… The fries are crispy on the outside, and the spicy mustard and sweet honey go together perfectly. So good! I didn’t know honey mustard would go so well with fries. Now, let’s try it with the sour cream onion sauce. I have often seen sour cream flavor in potato chips in Japan, but not much else. The sour, refreshing flavor goes well with the fries. So good! The green onions add a nice touch, too. I could eat about 3 more cups of this. Let’s have some sweets next. This is a crepe specialty shop. I’ve heard that Japanese crepes are a bit different from foreign crepes. I mean, you can hold and eat it in your hand, but it’s not common in other countries, so I guess that’s the difference. I think many Japanese have dreamed of working at a crepe shop at least once. Watching crepes being made is eye-catching; I could watch it forever. Finish with matcha cream… But wait, they’re sprinkling sugar on it. Oh wow! They’re caramelizing the sugar with the burner. It almost looks like a work of art. Finally, they add some cute little decorations, and it’s done. There’s a nice dine-in area on the 2nd floor. We even have a vase to put the crepe on the table. Such a beautiful matcha crepe!! The sugar they caramelized earlier is crunchy and crispy. The slightly bitter matcha cream and the sweet caramelized sugar go perfectly together. This is superb!! We also have raspberry sauce and vanilla ice cream inside. This crepe is quite heavy. It’s heavy because it’s packed with so many ingredients, but I’ve never had such a heavy crepe before (I mean, I love it). Now, let’s have some tea. Cheers!! The green tea has a gentle flavor, and it warms me up. This must be made of authentic tea leaves. When I peel off the paper, I feel kinda a little sad because the crepe is slowly disappearing. The matcha crepe dough is so soft and chewy. If you enjoy food-hopping in Japan, I highly recommend having a crepe. The next is a curry bread shop bearing Tokyo on its name. This cute girl is staring at me. Why don’t we buy one? Apparently, this curry bread has stretchy cheese. It’s freshy made and warm. The curry bread looks white. (I thought it’d be more brown.) The filling is almost there. It’s more chewy than crispy, and the curry’s a little spicy. So good!! And the cheese… is so stretchy!! The cheese isn’t too overpowering, and it blends perfectly with the curry flavor. And it is stretchy so much. As a fan of both cheese and curry, this is heaven for me. Plus, it’s baked, not deep-fried, so the curry bread is healthy. I found a cute shop here. Even the menu is lovely, too. The shop is a little spacious, so they give us a beeper. So cute. I’m surprised at how small it is, but this rabbit parfait is so cute. The rabbit’s face is made from Daifuku ice cream, so I’ve got to eat it fast before it melts. It’s just like a “YukiXX Daifuku” and tastes so good! The outside is so chewy. The ears are made of white chocolate. It’s also packed with whipped cream and strawberries. We also have many cornflakes at the bottom, which are a must for parfaits. Btw, if you don’t know about “YukiXX Daifuku,” please check out our past video from the above link. Since it has sponge cake inside, it’s like a parfait and a cake combined. Fantastic. I wanna try a trendy food in Japan, which I have seen a lot on social media. The lanterns give a nice vibe. You can place and purchase your order at this ticket vending machine. I’ll have an eel rice ball. It’s served right away, and they have a dine-in space. Wow!! Big slice of eel and rice ball!! This looks so delicious. The rich taste of the eel and grilled rice ball mix perfectly. This is great!! Usually, eel is served in a bowl and costs around 4,000 yen, however, we can have eel at this price. It’s rare to get eel at such an affordable price, so I’m really happy about it. Since I had something rich, let’s have something sweet now. A bear or a cat? It’s hard to decide. I’ll have the bear. It comes with a fortune telling for love. I’ll rescue the bear from the skewer. It’s a monaka with faces on both the front & back. It has a lot of red bean paste inside. So good!! I feel a little sorry, but it’s worth of eating it. Heart-shaped castella. There’s nothing inside. It’s a fluffy, sweet sponge cake. A pure red strawberry that looks sweet. Lastly, a pink mini-Daifuku. It’s very soft and has plenty of red bean paste inside. Delicious. I’ve been looking forward to the love fortune. The result is “Kichi” (good luck), which is the second-best fortune after “Daikichi” (best luck)! And it says I’ll have a long-lasting relationship with someone born under the Capricorn sign. Actually, my wife is a Capricorn! Isn’t it great? I’ll tie it up nearby. Now, I can see a bright future ahead. It smells so good, so I decided to stop by here. They sell Takosen (a snack with Takoyaki sandwiched between shrimp crackers), etc. It smells so good that I would almost snitch some. It’s quite heavy. They say the best-before date is 3 minutes. So, I’d better eat it right now. It has sauce, mayonnaise, green onions, and crunchy bits of fried batter inside. And the Takoyaki filling inside is creamy. It goes perfectly with the shrimp crackers—so good! It’s a bit tricky to eat, but that’s how it is. At first, the crackers are crunchy, but they get soft and tastier with sauce or mayonnaise. The shrimp cracker itself tastes a little bland, but the combination with the other toppings makes the whole flavor just right. They also sell Takoyaki in broth. This is called Akashiyaki, which is eaten dipped in broth instead of with sauce on. The Takoyaki has become super soft. The gentle-flavored broth has soaked into it. Happiness is now in my mouth. Evidently, the octopus inside the Takoyaki ran away. The octopus is springy and delicious. The hot soup warms my body up. This matcha shop is super crowded. It looks like they have some authentic matcha here. I’ll have something to drink. But this isn’t just a normal drink. At first glance, it looks like a regular matcha latte, but it has warabi mochi at the bottom. Now let’s Cheers!! It’s a refreshing and light sweet taste. The warabi mochi is sweet, too, so the balance is nice. So delicious! The warabi mochi is cut into small pieces so it won’t get stuck in our throat. Asakusa has so many great stalls and shops, and everything I tried today was really great. Moreover, it has a nice view of the tallest building in Japan, the Tokyo Skytree, from the street in front of this shop. So Great. Thanks so much for watching until the end!!

Food looks great but it looks somewhat touristy especially by the prices. I would live in 7/11 and Lawsons if I were the lol.
3:55 That's not honey mustard… that's honey and mustard 🤢
Everything looked so good!
I would try the eel.🤔 It's good in sushi.
The bunny parfait was adorable!
I'd try anything with Matcha!
Maybe they should stop using the Nazi symbol

"The Buddhist symbol that looks like a swastika is called the "manji". It's a sacred symbol that represents the Buddha's footprints.
Meaning:
The manji is an aniconic symbol for the Buddha
It's often imprinted on the Buddha's chest, feet, or palms
It's used to mark the location of Buddhist temples
It's often placed at the beginning and end of inscriptions
Modern Tibetan Buddhists use it as a clothing decoration."
1:48 why is there a nazi logo
In Japan, the 卍 (manji) has been used as a symbol of Buddhism since the Nara period (1,200 years ago). The manji can be seen on the principal image of Yakushiji Temple and on fabrics from the Azuchi-Momoyama period. It is also widely used as a family crest in Japan, and was an important symbol used by clans in the Heian period and feudal lords in the Sengoku period (around 1,100 years ago).

Our crepes are much smaller circles maybe 4-5 inches? and rolled very tight with much less ingredients. I make my moms with cinnamon, nutmeg and clove stewed apples and a browned butter and sugar sauce. If im really feeling fancy i top it with candied walnuts and vanilla ice cream. But ours arent mobile like that.
So many delicious foods, but I already know that the cheesy curry bun would have been my favorite. The way it was steaming in the cold weather made it look extra delicious. 😂
I didnt expect that takoyaki can be served like that, make me want to try it 🤤🤤🤤
Omg that curry bread ,i wanted to climb through yt to eat it
A pancake that is too loaded can be disgusting it’s a shame I’m French and I think the butter and sugar pancake is the best the natural
Wow this was amazing loved it ❤
If I ever come to Japan, it would be for food… and entertainment.✌
That fortune surely predicted more wedded bliss for you and your wife. How perfect that it even had her star sign correct.
I want to try all of these, i don't think i can pick a favourite~! The amount of red bean filling in those ningyoyaki though….making my tummy rumble… 👀🍴 💕
That crepe was so stuffed, it looked like an entire meal – i don't think i'd be able to finish it alone 🤭🎶
Eel is impossible to get where i live, but i've always wanted to taste it~ *q*)
its nice to see the 卍 hasnt been abandoned due to how one group tried to ruin it, in the west it is almost forbidden to show the symbol, it should be taken back from the unfortunate use it has had over the years

And if it's good you keep it?

Nice to meet you, I'm a 22-year-old Japanese living in Japan. I can't speak English, so I'm using Google Translate. So, I'm sorry if I use incorrect English > <💧Thank you for always introducing Japan in a wonderful way😊🇯🇵🌸I love the videos you upload to YouTube. I always watch them every day after work and before going to bed. It's so relaxing. Please continue to do your best with your YouTube activities! I'm rooting for you🔥💪🏻︎Finally, I'd like to introduce some Japanese sweets that I recommend. They are "Funwari Meijin(ふんわり名人)", "Karujaga(かるじゃが)", "Pizza Potato(ピザポテト)", "kataage Potato(堅揚げポテト)", "Kaki no Tane(柿の種)", and "Mame Okaki(豆おかき)"!!💞💞🇯🇵

Never heard of cornflakes in a parfait!?
China 🇨🇳
I already know it's a buddhist symbol but 1:47 made me laugh considerably
Note closely that the manji symbol itself even looks different. The Nazi swastika is rotated clockwise, while the manji is counterclockwise. The Nazis deliberately perverted and defamed the symbol of goodness. It is also found not only in Japan, but also in China and other countries.
From watching many of the Japanese vlogs, I'm convinced, Japan is a foodie's paradise.😅😅😅😅
