Japan Trip to OSAKA First-Timer Itinerary 2025
Hello! We’re back with another adventure to Japan! We flew Singapore Airlines to Osaka with a transit in Singapore. This time the transit time is crazy tight— 1.5 hour only.
Landing was at Terminal 3, and our next flight left from Terminal 2 And… The Skytrain left RIGHT in front of us…
We were literally only few steps away! ૮₍⇀‸↼‶₎ა. I let my racing heart recover on the Skytrain – because apparently
our trip now includes Terminal Sprinting This wasn’t a layover – it was a training montage for Extreme Traveler: Singapore Edition. At least our mad dash paid off – got to the boarding gate and still can record the plane. Boarded respectably on time and avoided the walk of shame
as last passengers One of my favorite things about flying SQ to Japan: They always offers cold & refreshing soba noodles on their flights to Japan. Usually, you’re meant to dip the soba noodles into the sauce But between the cramped airplane tray table and these stubbornly clumped-together noodles.. It’s easier to poured the entire sauce right over the noodles instead. The main dish — beef with rice.. is quite okay but the bold ginger notes dominated every bite. And for dessert – a Magnum ice cream bar! Nothing beats that satisfying crack of chocolate and creamy vanilla
at 30,000 feet. My favorite moment of any flight – the landing announcement!
Time to prepare for touchdown. Stepping past the arrival gates, we were greeted by Japan’s most colorful welcome party – gachapon toys & machines! We couldn’t resist taking the first spin – because what’s a better way to start a Japan trip? HELLO AGAIN, OSAKA! Missed you so much! Our Airbnb is just a few blocks from Shinsekai—meaning Tsūtenkaku and I are basically neighbors now! 👋🏼 Hm… The Tsūtenkaku neon colors look suspiciously like the
2025 Expo palette! The moment we drop our bags, we make a beeline for Dotonbori. This iconic district never disappoints – it’s Osaka’s electrifying heart! ✨ I’ve captured Dotonbori in photos before…
but this time, I’ll make sure to engrave this moment on videos!!! That man dressed in red and white stripes with round black eyeglasses
is Kuidaore Taro, one of Osaka’s iconic character. This Billiken dressed as Kuidaore Taro and holding takoyaki might just be the ultimate Osaka mashup. In a sea of neon and shoulders, my friend spotted a miraculously empty photogenic alley amidst the Dotonbori chaos! It’s time for the mandatory photo with the iconic Glico man! Sadly, our last year’s track photo spot had gone. So we settled for the classic—Glico Man shots with his iconic sprint pose on the bridge! Then we repeat our sacred Osaka tradition: Cremia ice cream therapy! No trip is complete without this silky Hokkaido milk swirl melting. There are 2 #C-pla stores in Shinsaibashi Area. Spoiler Alert: This trip features dangerous levels of gacha spinning—prepare for both tears of joy (rare pulls!) and pain (my wallet crying). This gacha needs assembly.. So letme just put the picture of what my hubby got on the screen for convinience.. Time for a quick 100 yen coins refill— Ugh! We got the “slime” twice ┗(`皿´)┛ As we leaving gachapon store, I’m starting to wonder—should I just get a bag specifically for carrying all these gachapons? Heading to the second #C-pla I want the crab bread! But the whole collection is also cute. Giving this umbrella another chance of spin! Green umbrella! Trying to see the future for our friend. LOL. This… is the sound of ¥1,000 disappearing Got one more member joining our gachapon cult.
Welcome to your new addiction. *clap for luck* Did our gacha fortune-telling work? Our foresight was accurate.. So far.. (๑˘︶˘๑) Yay! No repeated pull~~ One set completed~! Our night stroll brings us to Dotonbori River that slithers with neon reflections. It’s a lively 850-step stroll from Dōtonbori River to Namba—just enough to walk off the calories of Cremia ice cream (I hope)… As the metro pulls in—it’s our signal that tonight’s Osaka starter adventures are winding down. Oops.. One last stop: A vending machine offering the
Limited Edition Expo 2025—Pepsi Zero Peach. Let’s try it tomorrow! Good morning~ Here’s the view of Shin-Imamiya station from our balcony. It’s not even that early… but the platform are already packed—probably with commuters off to work. Anyway! Before heading back last night, we made a stop at a convenience store. And look… it was just one night, but somehow we already filled the fridge with snacks and drinks! We may have gone slightly overboard last night… Uhm… This one’s melon milk—with real melon bits!
Creamy, fruity, and basically summer in a bottle. Recommended it so much! (If you are okay with the lactose) And this one? It’s like muscat-flavored drinking water. Light and fruity. Up in the freezer: two milk ice creams, a fruity one in balls form, and of course—some trusty Häagen-Dazs. It’s the same milk ice cream, actually—just different covers! I’m collecting them on my Japan stamp book, so I bought two. I guess I should start eating them now… so I don’t end up chugging two cups of milk ice cream on the last day of our stay! HereI kept my promise to try it today. But first, let’s appreciate this Pepsi Zero Peach design first.
It’s limited edition~ doesn’t come around every year! Can’t imagine what would my asian parents say if they saw me drinking cola for breakfast… *sigh* ‘At least it’s zero sugar!’ …won’t be the defense they’d accept. Wow—the moment I pop open this can, a wave of sweet peach aroma bursts out! Taste-wise? Still cola, but with a bold hit of peachy aroma. Now let’s open the gacha we got yesterday!
First up: the Winnie the Pooh set~ Oh, how cute, the honey melt topping can be on and off like a hat. I’m thinking of starting a morning ritual—open at least one gacha a day. ..then return the capsule to the store for recycling.
yes, for “recycling purposes” (totally not addiction). Eeyore’s honey cap is trully a challenge here.. Ha! solved it! Tigger’s face is the most hilarious one I think.
The “Yuck!” is very strong in this one. OMG! How cutee~ (≧ヮ≦)💕 How lucky my friend is to complete this set~ While opening this.. I’m torn… Spend responsibly?
Or gacha-spin just once more for that crab bread? Coz.. just look at it..!!!!
This is way too realistic for a gacha prize.. One could’ve mistaken this as a real snack.. ( ;ↀ___ↀ) Let’s move on to another one.. the transparent colorful umbrella. …Function unclear, but look at those colors! Oh, and here’s a mini umbrella rack—just like the ones outside of (most-likely) every convenience stores in Japan. PS: I never use them though… TikTok has me paranoid after seeing people say their umbrellas got stolen—or swapped for broken ones. Very transclutent and detailed~ This one’s the green version. Huh.. I thought it had some sort of mechanism to open and
close the umbrella… Turns out, it’s just molded plastic in an open position. Still, I think, it will makes a cute little prop for your anime figures! Alright—let’s head out to Kuromon Market! Welcome to Kuromon Market—Osaka’s legendary kitchen, where the seafood is as fresh as it gets and the energy is electric. The preparation itself is almost hypnotic to watch
with the almost rhythmic moves in steady.. How they carefully (and easily) insert the filling with precision By the way, this is our first stop for breakfast snack, the stalls that sells everything cooked. (´◡`) With the piping hot takoyaki in hand, let’s dive into the best bites this 180-year-old market has to offer. Everywhere we look—fresh-cut sashimi, massive king crabs, and even a gigantic tuna head are trying to steal the spotlight. While my friend is browsing for his favorite raw sashimi, my husband and I are on the hunt for something cooked. If raw fish isn’t your thing either, no worries—you can look out for skewered tempura. As I wandered deeper into the market, I stumbled upon a rare sight—
a sakura mochi seller! I’ve always wanted to try one ever since I saw it in the Monster Rancher anime. Childhood dreams do come true! Even if you’re not into raw food, there’s still plenty to munch on and enjoy here. Just like this crispy, thin sweet potato chip.
Pro tip: Keep some wet tissues or an oshibori handy! Eating while walking is frowned upon in Japan. So either enjoy your snack right in front of the shop, or you hold it until you reach somewhere you can eat. Speaking of which, there’s a free rest stop with tables, a clean toilet, in the Kuromon Market’s tourist information center. And don’t forget to collect the Kuromon Market stamp if you’re into stamps collecting. After Kuromon, we headed out for lunch. As soon as we stepped in, the air was filled with the aroma of rich spices and hearty meat. The curry? A perfect blend of mildly sweet, spicy, and comforting flavors, with a luscious roux poured over rice. One thing I didn’t expect is the portion size. I ordered a small but still ended up with a mountain of rice—I kinda wish I asked for half! But despite the portion surprise, that curry was everything. Warm, flavorful, and incredibly satisfying. I choose to add a cheesy touch to my curry croquet. And it leveled up my curry experience so much. With full stomachs and happy hearts, we walked to our next destination: Den Den Town. Often called the Akihabara of Osaka, Den Den Town is packed with anime stores, retro game shops, electronics, manga cafés, maid cafés—you name it! “Den Den” is short for “Denki no Machi” or Electric Town. It started as an electronics district but grew into a vibrant otaku haven. Actually there’s a reason why we’re magnetically drawn to gacha places agan and again.. This Hunter X Hunter gacha! But we never found it.. (๑-﹏-๑) Btw, while you’re in Denden Town, keep an eye out for the mysterious Giant Bee Wire Sculpture. It’s tucked near Nippombashi 4-chome and looks like it’s crawling right out of a building! Other than the wire bee, also watchout for the shops with shelves overflowing with merch, from Evangelion mechs to One Piece treasures While I’m recovering from internal debate of whether I really need that cute animal miniature collection or not. We decided to walk back to shinsaibashi-suji again. Because we haven’t much explore last night. well, I must admit, night and day window shopping experiences is surely hit different. The most obvious thing is, we don’t rushed by the store closing hour.
We don’t got to see a thing yesterday because most shops closed at 8PM and 9PM. I kept seeing this.. this steroid lucky cat a lot —hypnotized—I gave in and spun the gacha. As soon as my husband foresight confirmed that there’s a chance for no repeat gacha pull. Heck yeah! Let’s continue to spin it! And yup—we scored all three color versions of the lucky cat! Nope, still no sign of Hunter X Hunter figure gacha.. (T∩T) Then I spotted this gecko gacha… and I couldn’t resist. I didn’t even care which color I got—they’re all so cute. Luckily, the shop has an unboxing table, so I opened everything right there—no more gacha balls taking up my small bag space! Let’s do a few more spins—this time it’s my favorite magical girls, Cardcaptor Sakura Qposket miniatures. First pull and we got SYAORAN?! ✨ FYI—Sakura doesn’t reuse outfits!
(Apart from her uniform Tomoeda school probably) Thanks to her friend Tomoyo, she has a different costume in nearly every battle—a rarity in magical girl anime. That’s why 3 out of 4 this Qposket miniatures gachapon are Sakura in adorable outfits And the price to keep these Qposket boxes from getting crushed, I am willing to sacrifice… my husband backpack for it. LOL Another thing here that catch my attention is this #FR2 giant torigate And also the bunny here that almost give me a heart attack.
which may explain the reason why I’m feeling watched. but hey, they got a Osaka medalion series!
As a collector, you know I had to get one. it’s only 200 yen. I’m getting the Glico-man signature pose design. did you see that sold out sign falling? Haha! It’s been an honour to pull the last gacha. LOL Next stop: Amerikamura, Osaka’s edgy street fashion capital. Started in the 1970s with shops selling U.S. vintage clothes and records, creating a cross-cultural vibe now known as “American Village.” Or just call it “Amemura.” It’s Osaka’s Harajuku—with more grunge, denim, and Kansai energy. If you’re into thrifting, indie fashion, or flea market finds, this area definitely deserves a spot on your itinerary. My husband and I wants to visit this quirky little vintage shop,
loud and chaotic from the outside, with a Statue of Liberty on its roof. inside the store is very compact that you have to leave your bag with the staff in front of the store and walk sideways inside like a crab. Amemura is bursting with murals, graffiti and weird sculptures. Every corner is Insta-worthy. After exploring, we headed to Komeda’s Coffee to meet a friend joining our trip. I’m glad we came here.. my feet can recover while I’m enjoying a boot of melon soda float. Their katsu sando (cutlet sandwich) was hefty and delicious, with a crispy coating and tangy sauce. Lastly, you definitely do not want to miss their tiramisu cake. Next we,re heading to Parco, near the Daimaru and the big 大 sign. Aside from taking pictures at the Tsutenkaku made of lego bricks Our real mission was the Digimon pop-up store inside AniBirth! They had other collabs too—like Slam Dunk on the back of their blocked area—but sadly, not for sale at the time we visit. One of my friends was lowkey devastated. Next we head to Menya Jouroku to eat the Chuka Soba. We found this restaurant from Tabelog last year.
The taste is unforgetable, so this year, we come here again. They specialize in Takaida-style ramen—a deep, tamari-based soy broth made from chicken and kombu. It’s rich, smoky, and utterly unforgettable. If you’re a fan of bold, savory ramen with soul—plus a slice of Osaka’s ramen heritage— this spot’s a must. After the ramen dinner,
we head to Osaka Station to book our ticket to Tottori. We stumbled upon the gacha area near the JR Ticket office And while waiting for our number to be called, let’s use this moment to unbox the gacha that I just got. PS: But little did we know some urgency occured later and we have to re-arrange our visit to Tottori (TヮT)゚ no way we’d waste our midnight just for rest—
instead we visited MEGA Don Quijote in Shinsekai! Found some super cute Pokémon merch while wandering the aisles. I want this Pokemon themed yukata so bad!!! but they only had it for kids size only.. brokenhearted… I consoled myself by loading up my cart with snacks. And what do I find next?
A whole shelf of Osaka Expo-themed omiyage snacks! Even better—there’s another Expo 2025 dedicated snack section tucked away in the back, with different varieties! Umm… I saw a long queue line on the tax free cashier.. I think it’s time to hit the tax-free cashier line and wrap up today’s vlog here. Starting the day with something adorable~
a cat leather pouch gacha unboxing! The hanging tag features a convenient button-open design,
so you can easily clip it onto your handbag For a 400 yen gacha, I was a bit bummed—we got the smallest pouch in the whole set… even if it is made of leather. Today’s breakfast is from Famima! My favorites are the Famichiki and this spam musubi—simple but satisfying. The weather forecast says it’s going to rain today, so we also picked up an umbrella from Family Mart. Honestly, I prefer this new color and design over last year’s plain black version. It’s a compact umbrella that fits in your pocket—
literally pocket-sized for emergencies! Our train is coming—time to hop on! Japan is full of surprise! We stumbled upon an art installation while walking through Namba Walk, specifically on 1st Avenue at Art Park. Namba Walk is an underground shopping street in Osaka’s Minami area. The gallery features reproductions of artwork from
the Art Institute of Chicago We’ve arrived at our lunch stop. They’re known for their super-thick, juicy pork cutlets, breaded in crispy panko and fried to golden perfection. Should’ve come earlier to avoid the long queue. This place is getting popular with tourists, which explains the never-ending line outside. Real talk—we waited more than an hour. Was it rough?
Yes. But the smell of frying pork kept us going. Oh, and they’re only accepting cash—
no credit cards accepted. Uggh! Finally—out turn! My friend ordered their signature thick katsudon—a massive 5cm pork cutlet that’s slow-cooked at low temps and then fried until crisp. FYI: Between the thick katsudon and rice,
there’s also a layer of soft egg Since I know my limits, I ordered the 200g tonkatsu WITHOUT rice The result? I fully enjoy the crispy tonkatsu.
It was super tender, and the sauce made it even better. PS: Their tea also gigantic Σ(°ロ°);; Gachapon still shadowing us on our way to train platform.. Ehey! We’ve got our first one giving in—
officially kicking off today’s gachapon opening ceremony! It’s fun how you get to play a spinner when returning the capsule—
even if you don’t actually win anything. Each of us eventually gave in and took our turn at the
gachapon machine. He got the black tapping machine card. But there’s no chance knowing which payment card that he get. Asking for gachapon sponsorship 😀 Actually.. I want this one too..
But maybe next time. This is water spray cooling down for summer preparation. My friend blurt out “So… this is what it feels like to be a houseplant getting misted.” While waiting for our train.
I found my favorite jelly-drink, Ramune flavor at a vending machine! It’s sweet and refreshing, with a subtle minty aftertaste.
Shake REALLY well before drinking! Because if you don’t, the jelly stays in one big chunk—and refuses to come out. After all the distractions, we finally arrived at Osaka Castle
(the miniature) it’s cloudy and windy today. Wow—so many Osaka Expo decorations! It’s about a 20–25 minute walk from the station to Osaka Castle—if you’re not constantly stopping for photos and videos like we did. The clouds look pretty intimidating—good thing we came prepared with an umbrella. Even though May isn’t peak hydrangea season in Japan… These early bloomers might be hinting at the start of
the rainy season—tsuyu. Aside from visiting Osaka Castle for photos,
actually we’re also here for conan special shop & stamps. The Conan special shop is located in this Miraiza building,
the same complex with Osaka Castle Eventhough Conan’s the main focus here, but you’ll also find other goodies—like this full Pokémon merch rack! Should I go with Gengar or these three starter Pokémon? Hmm… There’s even a Conan-themed café near the exit. P.S. I later got this for free at the YTV station—our next destination. We stayed here for a while..
Snapping photos and waiting for the rain to ease up a bit. Stamp book tip: skip textured paper—even if it’s thick.
Mine makes every stamp feel like a gamble. The rain has stopped—perfect time to move to our next stop. We were shocked by the huge crowd when we left—
turns out there’s a concert at Osaka-Jo Hall. Welcome to our next stop! You might be wondering—why a TV station? Greeted by the Detective Boys outside, you might already know the answer *aside from the free poster hint before YTV is known for producing a wide range of content, including popular anime series like “Detective Conan” and “Inuyasha” Let’s get inside rather than peeking outside. Next to a snoozing Kogoro statue is a wireframe art piece that shifts from Ran to Conan depending on your angle. And look up—Kid the Phantom Thief is watching from the second floor! There’s more than just exhibits—there’s a whole gachapon corner waiting to be spin. The boys are already deep in gacha inspection mode. I’ll just chill here with Shinobi—a cat costume ninja
and his dog companion—Ninmaru, YTV’s mascot I got Heiji and Kid from the Machiboke series—courtesy of my husband. It’s perfect, since Heiji hold a grudge against Kid for stealing his kiss while disguised as Kazuha. Drama! After that, we headed to Yodobashi in Osaka Umeda—my friend wanted to scout some tripods. Not me totally subtly pushing him to get the X5 so I can borrow it later. Then I saw the “travel-sized” GFX—the GFX100RF. It’s amazing how they slimmed down a medium format camera.
It’s only slightly bulkier than my X100VI! While my friend continued his tripod quest, we hit the toy section. I’m obsessed with these fat, chubby animal miniatures. This blue-eyed white python is coming home with me! I also wanted the green snake as its buddy, but sadly it was sold out. These button-eyed figures totally remind me of the movie Coraline. Have you watched it? They also had the “Vegetable Animal” or “Vegetable Fairy”
blindbox series. Lucky for my wallet, I didn’t love this lineup—and I already own a few. LOL—check out this fake Gundam poser over here. It’s the Osaka Expo 2025 special Gundam—the same one you’ll see at the Gundam Pavilion. The rain is getting heavier, as we finished Yodobashi toy section patrol. Who can resist a bowl of ramen on a rainy day?
That settles our dinner plans. The greeter staff handed out menus while we were queuing. Who knew this ramen place was so popular? While waiting the ramen arrived, one of the female staff offers me an apron and a hair tie! Their thoughtfulness are on another level! I tried their macro ramen, which features a clam-based broth. The noodles were springy, the chashu pork juicy and tender. The soup was light but rich, with a savory, umami-packed flavor. My husband ordered the micro version—a shoyu-based broth with a slightly darker color than mine. We all surrendered to the sacred joy of slurping noodles. If I weren’t so full, I’d have slurped that soup down to the last drop! With the rain still pouring, we decided to call it a day and
head home for an early rest. For the next two days, we’ll be heading out on a side trip outside of Osaka—but that’s a story for another video. Meanwhile, let’s continue with our last day vlog here in Osaka! The rain came early and stayed with us all day. Today was meant to be our rescheduled Tottori day trip, but we didn’t get lucky with the Super Hokuto schedule. Without the limited express train, it would’ve taken 8 hours round trip from Osaka-Tottori. So we decided to turn this into a chill recovery day instead. Our slow and easy shopping day started with a matcha-themed train! Wait—trains have wipers? I had no idea! Accidentally twinning with the Kyoto matcha train—I was decked out in green too, from my umbrella to my flannel. The train was parked for a while, so we hopped back in to see what made it so special. Everyone had already gotten off—perfect chance to record the tea-themed interior in peace. As we said goodbye to the train and rode the escalator up, we noticed it was lined with flags from the Expo 2025 participating countries. On the way to our next stop, we randomly stumbled upon another flea market! Turns out flea markets are occasionally held at Namba Hatch, usually taking over the outdoor plazas. We honestly have no clue how to find out when their flea markets are scheduled. Our actual destination wasn’t far from Namba Hatch. We first discovered Master-Piece in Shinjuku, and since they’re originally from Osaka, we just HAD TO visit their flagship store. My husband was on the hunt for a sling bag—and maybe, if we got lucky, a new jacket to match his style. While others was hunting their needs I’m more interested on this 2 floor store interiors. LOL. My friend couldn’t resist diving into this pit of temptation—a shop filled with branded second-hand clothes. Oh! When it rains, most stores here will usualy give your shopping bag an extra protection. While one friend dove into shopping, the rest of us chilled at a cozy random café, right across this super botanical-looking fashion store. PSA: Many cafés here offer “bag carts” so you can stash your luggage right under your chair. Super handy! Their order “table number” system was unique—no numbers, just rustic alphabet blocks. The café is right next to a home decor shop, and they’re connected. Bonus: water is free and self-service. Let’s just count this burger as our brunch since we’re starting super late and taking it slow today. Rainy days are great for daydreaming and people-watching. Quick bathroom stop before we continued exploring. This area is full of fashion boutiques, lifestyle stores, and cozy cafés. A little late to the party, but we found out the area is called
Orange Street (Tachibana Street) Osaka’s trendy hub for fashion, furniture, and cool cafés. Definitely check it out if you’re into stylish shopping! On the way back toward the Namba area… We spotted a ship deck-themed restaurant. Even cooler—it’s right by the river. Hmm… might have to check this out next time. Namba Walk underground was packed today. Probably because of the rain—and it’s a Saturday. We spent the rest of our time at Namba City, shopping and queuing for tax-free returns. Sadly, no footage of that part. After finishing up with tax-free,
I bought a new pair of Converse at C-pla. And I couldn’t resist this super cute Angelic Chinchilla gacha. Pretty cool right~? I thought I’d stop at two spins… but nope. This could fit the real Calbee Snack Inside! We checked Uniqlo as our last shopping spree stop. On our way to dinner, we stumbled on a Shinsaibashi stamp rally! This one was unique—you had to solve a quiz at each stamp spot,
not just collect stamps. We were supposed to have this onigiri for breakfast, but since we started late, it became our dinner takeaway. And after queuing for a while, the staff told us that the onigiri was all sold out… Guess it just wasn’t our lucky day for onigiri. Quick Dinner Plan 2.0: Activated
(thanks to this free seating area pitstop). Along the way, we visited another stamp rally location. Kinda sad we only discovered the rally on our last day in Osaka. So.. this was the final stamp we got 🙁 Late dinner place reveal in.. 3.. 2.. 1.. Cos its 24/7~ A warm pork and beef bowl always hits the spot for a late-night dinner. As the rain pours on, our final day in Osaka quietly comes to an end. We found something rare on our konbini visit:
cup-noodle-sized Glico Pudding Obviously, the Shin-chan dance was 100% necessary! Hahahahha. Surprisingly, the giant pudding isn’t as sweet as the regular size! I think it’s because with a pudding this big,
the caramel layer stays thin—making it more balanced. Then came my friend’s random question:
“Do you know where Shin-chan’s dad works?”
