Mount Fuji Day Trip from Tokyo – Hot Spring Onsen with beautiful Mt Fuji View and more

Today we’re here to show you how to spend a beautiful day in the surroundings of Man Fuji. But the visibility of Man Fuji literally changes from one second to the other. But you will still enjoy the day if you follow some simple steps. First and foremost, one of my favorite ways of enjoying Mount Fuji is by soaking in one of its many hot springs. And this is why today we came to one of my favorite onen in this area called Urai Onsen. Let’s go. Uratti onsen is a centuries old ritual of healing. The water here is rich in calcium, magnesium, and sulfate, minerals that can help relieve joint pain, improve blood circulation, and soothe tired muscles. The amazing thing about coming to the Japanese hot springs is that you can come without absolutely anything. I did bring my own towel just for convenience, but you can always rent one. Yuri Onsen has more than just one bath. There’s two open air baths with a view of Mount Fuji, a quiet cave bath tucked into the rocks, and a gentle steam bath to warm you from within. Each one offers a different way to relax and a different connection to nature. If you’ve never been to an onen, please don’t worry. It is naked, so I do understand some of you may feel uncomfortable, but people here honestly don’t care, and everybody is on the same boat. So, this is the OCoyu, the male bath, and I’m going to go to Onayu, the female bath. Let’s go inside. Okay, so I’m ready. We obviously got special permission to film in here today. I’m wearing a swimming suit, but normally you would not be allowed to. Let’s go outside. In Japan, soaking in an onsen isn’t just about relaxation. It’s about resettling the body and mind. A quiet meditative pose that connects you to the natural world and to yourself. And with this view of Fuji rising beyond the steam, it really feels like the mountain is watching over you. I think it’s definitely going to be a highlight in your Japan trip. I strangely feel refreshed by the beautiful sights of Mount Fuji. And I think we’re going to go to show you the next place. We’ve come to the Asagiri Dairy Farm. Asagiri Dairy Farm sits right at the foot of Mount Fuji, famous for its fresh milk and soft serve ice cream. Normally, visitors can only look through the window, but we got special permission to go inside. There are many different machines lots going on. They have a big tank over there where they actually mix the coffee and the milk. And this is the stage where the bottles get filled. This is a little towel that softly cleans the side of the bottle. Okay. So now we’re going to get a soft cream which is also made with the milk that we’ve just seen is been produced right here. That looks beautiful. M. Wow. Just so fresh. And I’m going to try the coffee. This is also really nice. But we also got some of the very fresh milk. This has just been made. According to the Japanese law, bottles with milk, they have to stay indoor for 24 hours before being able to be dispatched. But exceptionally, we’ve been given some extra fresh milk. If you are driving or on a road trip in Japan, you will definitely stop by at something called Mino Eki. basically like a place with different facilities like free parking and souvenir shops, restaurants and viewpoints gathered all in one spot. And this is the Mitinoi of Asagiri. I think this is one of the most beautiful Mitinoi all over Japan. The Asagiri Highlands aren’t just about dairy. This whole area is perfect for trekking. Gentle trails, wide fields, and views of Mount Fuji. It’s really a great place to walk, breathe, and feel the mountain up close. For lunch, we came to the Yamanaka Lake. The one thing that you should try eating is called hoto. And it’s a type of I would argue udon. Some people say dumpling. But let’s go and find out. Today we came to a place called Shya. The cool thing is that it’s quite a traditional restaurant. So you do take your shoes off when you come in. And then we are sitting on the floor. It says osume which means it’s the recommended dish and there’s many there’s also fishto oyster chicken etc. I think I will go for the kincoto which is a mushroomto. A few moments later, the the one element that always has to be present in hoto is kabucha, the pumpkin. And the broth is also is made of miso. And these are the noodles on the thicker end. They’re a little bit wider than udon noodles that you may be used to. Let’s go from the soup. It’s so heartwarming. It’s amazing. Let’s try the noodle. Hoto is a local noodle dish from Yamanashi Prefecture and it’s not udon. The dough is needed like dumplings cut thick and stewed directly in miso broth with seasonal vegetables. Legend says samurai in the Sangoku area, including Tedda Shingen, ate hoto as battlefield food, filling simple, and easy to make in one pot. It’s hardy, humble, and deeply rooted in this region’s history. Around the Yamanaka Lake, there are actually quite a few really nice cafes and Hakona is one of my favorite ones because it has a beautiful view of Mount Fuji from the terrace, but also great cakes and good coffee as well. Something that maybe you should try, something that Japanese people love and is a very Japanese creation is the short cake. So, we came up to the terrace. I’m excited for this short cake. Wow, it looks amazing. In Japan, shortcake means something very different from the western kind. Here, it’s a light sponge layered with whipped cream and fresh strawberries. Airy, delicate, and not too sweet.
Really good coffee. Okay, so the last stop we came to today is actually a little bit hidden area surrounded by nature and it’s called Aim Brew Lab. They produce their own craft beer. Okay. So, this is my beer flight. I think the first one is an IPA. So, we have actually two IPAs and the deeper deeper. It’s really nice. Um, it has a light bitterness, but very much on the fruity side of things. Very refreshing. M. And this is really nice as well. A little bit darker. Wow. It’s really nice. It’s not too strong. It’s not as dark as I was expecting it to be. It’s a very strong coffee bean taste. Really nice. The amazing thing is that these craft bears are produced literally inside in the lab. Here you can see the actual place where the bear is being prepared. And so you can sit here and enjoy your bear by looking at where it was produced. M. It’s really nice. What a delicious way of ending the day around Mount Fuji.
