But when you explain to them that the obsessive fandomism and desire to become Japanese yet not fully understanding the Japanese culture, most Japanese think that is weird. While Japan is characterized by its cuteness and generally accepting foreign travelers who like to explore their cultures, weebs often have a mixed reputation. I hope the Japanese government starts giving foreigners a 100 -1,000 question test and the Foreigner has to get a 100% before we can buy a plane ticket. Call it the be respectful or stay out of the country it is a privilege to be a guest in a another country not alright "test"( I agree it's a little wordy but it gets straight to the point). I say all this as a proud American there's so much to learn and appreciate the food the culture the history.
I hate anime. Japan is too crowded for me. And it seems to love technology way too much. It’s too much of a culture clash for me.
I have to say if it wasn't for anime, I wouldn't have delved into the culture that I love so much, since anime, I have read books from Japan and watched movies and one day wish to be in a kimono and learn to speak the language.

I met a Japanese man in a wheelchair years ago and he spoke English pretty well I was like “wow even Japanese people in wheelchairs are so cool” and I made his day we used to talk a lot and because good friends until he passed from bone cancer during covid ❤️

I've visited Tokyo and the rural towns near Fuji, I have nothing but respect for the people that live in the countries that I had visited.

I blame anime for infecting westerners with the idea of Japan being a disneyland adventure destination. I admit, I used to be of the mindset that Japan was a place worth visiting because I watched Naruto and was enamored and fascinated with the depiction of ramen and how good it looked, this made me think 'wow, i want to go to japan because I love japanese culture' im glad to say i am completely over that immature mindset and have no desire to visit japan especially not for the pathetic reasons of pokemon cafes and shopping for anime toys.
