Lake Kawaguchiko Oishi Park🇯🇵Live from Japan

And greetings everybody from Lake Kawaguchi. Here we are up looking at Fujisan. And as per usual, it has a great big cloud over it. Hoping it’ll clear as we walk. Um, so we’re just going to start here on the shores of the lake. There’s a few fishermanmen here. I’ve been watching them catch fish actually. So the there’s an abundance of fish in the lake, obviously. But it’s really beautiful. Well, I’m going to take you for a walk. We’re going to walk away from Fujian now. And I’m going to take you for a walk through the beautiful garden that’s here. It’s very busy. The further we walk back towards the um Oishi Park buildings, the busier it gets. So, we’re going to enjoy a little bit of nature here for a while. Um we’re on the the shores. So, I’ve come up on the bus from to um the train actually from Tokyo and then I’m on the hop- on hop off bus, which is doing a um stops at lots of stops here. And what I’m planning to do is vis visit the Kuboto Art Museum where all the beautiful kimono are. And Dave Ka Fujisan right there. Typical summer Fujian under the cloud. Beautiful day. and Fujian Sun’s hiding. My big tip here is come up and stay the night. Get up early in the morning when the sky is clear and you’re going to get a beautiful view. But Fujisan is there but hiding. How’s it going, Dave? There in Niagara Falls. Fant. I hope you’re all Oh, and it is. So, today’s the 4th of July here. So, happy 4th of July. Happy 4th of July. Hope it’s going to be a good one for you, Colleen. Awesome, Lisa. Yes, we’re looking here at Fujian. Hiding away. Hiding. These famous mountains only like to reveal themselves occasionally. I should have come up last night actually. Um I was Yeah, I woke up this morning. I thought, why didn’t I? It would have been good come up um this last night. stay the night and also get a nice view of it before it clouds over. But we’re going to go for a walk from here. This is Lake Kawaguchi. So, I am dedicating to this um scope, this live stream to my very very dear friend Ron Kawaguchi. Great supporter, great friend. There we go. A periscope heart. Um, yes, Ron has been a great supporter and a friend for since well for 10 years now since Periscope first began. So his So Ron Kavaguchi when you get to watch this Ron thanks for everything that you and your family have done. We’ve met up several times in the United States. It’s always been such a a wonderful occasion when we’ve done that. So, I hope you enjoy your video and I hope when you visit Japan, you will get up here to Lake Kawaguchi. Fisherman going home. He’s probably got his lunch. So, off he goes. Where are we going? We are going to go Yeah, down here a little bit. I need to find a way off these rocks. Fabulous to see you, Colleen. How’s it all going there, Cyprus? Hope you’re good. We’re going to We’re just going to walk back a little bit and then I’m getting into the most amazing gardens. The name of this um park is called Oishi Park. Um and it’s a big tourist destination. I was surprised when I got here just how many tourists there are. It is quite um quite busy today. So, this looks like a good way to go. This he’s chose to go to a different spot for his fishing. Little bit of a rocky foreshore here. Oh, we’ll have to jump some puddles. Nice. We’ll have to do some puddle jumping. And good afternoon, Morance and Jay Ca. Nice to see everybody. It’s really bright. The sun is shining. And can can you believe it? There is Fujisan right there. You can see the slopes, but that big cloud is just hanging over. Hopefully, it’ll move. Need a bit of a breeze. Need a bit of a breeze. There’s a bit of fishing going on in the lake, which is nice. So, just going to do a bit of a jump over here. You can probably hear the water running. It’s really lovely. The old boat going out.
Yeah, there’s a big group of people over there. A little bit further. Oh, great, Colleen. Yes. Yeah, I am. I’m good. I was just counting up. I’ve got five more nights left in Tokyo with um the kids and then I’m off to Osaka for 9 10 11 12 13 four nights expo on next Friday. So yeah, a week away we’ll be going to the expo doing some other exciting stuff around Osaka as well. And so we’re going to walk away from the lake. We’re just going to walk away from here and I’ll keep glancing back at Fujisan because you never know what’s going to happen here. It’s warm in Oakuckland 19. Woo! Stop raining. I hope it stopped raining. So, we’ll walk away from here. They have done a bit of gardening. Hope my um signal is going to be okay here. Should be. Should be. So, it takes about I caught the train from Hatioji. It does leave from Tokyo station. Um I caught the train from Hatioji about an hour and 20 minutes up here. 19 in Oakland. Wow, that’s crazy. Looks like they’ve done some planting. I want to show you these beautiful white hydrangeas up here. And this building looks pretty amazing. Not sure what it is. This looks like it could be some sort of posh accommodation maybe. So, we’re going to walk that way through the garden. No, nothing’s changed over with Fujian. I’ll just show you these beautiful big white hydrangeas. Good timing. Those people are just stepping away from them. Look how gorgeous they’re just like big big round white balls. Look, they are just divine. Look. Wow. Mixed up with yellow daisies. They look pretty cool. This path actually doesn’t go anywhere. Well, it does. It sort of just goes up to some houses and things, but it doesn’t doesn’t take us anywhere anywhere back to the lake. What’s Fujisan doing now? I think the cloud might be getting bigger, not smaller. But this is typical summer Fujisan. I actually think the best time to come up here is spring. Uh, beautiful in the springtime, of course, but you could get a lot of rain as well. So, but every time I’ve been in spring, I’ve had some good luck. I guess the thing is not to plan ahead too far. If you plan to go in two weeks time, you can never tell what the weather’s going to be like. So, we’re going to follow this path where these people are coming down. We’ll end up um through there. It looks beautiful on your TV. I’m sure it does, Colleen. Yes. Can I pick one and pop it through the screen to you? They’re just gorgeous. Look. Oh, there’s a yellow butterfly. Come back, butterfly. Where have you gone? There’s a few bees around. No, there was a nice yellow butterfly, but he’s gone. Okay, we’re going to walk. Fujisan, what are you doing? Just need a nice big blow. So Fuji sun’s just through there under that cloud. Under that cloud. walk back this way. So lucky I booked some seats on I going back as well. Booked a seat on the reserve seat on the train. It was full and there were quite a lot of people standing. Imagine standing for if you’ve been standing since Tokyo station. You would have been standing for is it clearing? you would have been standing for wow probably close to two hours. Um and people were didn’t have the right tickets of course. So Oh, look at the cosmos. Yeah. So it’s Yeah, it’s quite interesting watching how people travel. So, I was glad that I’d actually reserved a window seat, was able to sit back, relax, listen to everybody else trying to sort out their ticket wos. Kathy, awesome. Nice to see you. We’re up near Fujian. Fujian is doing its you Oh, I think it’s looking better. Hold on. I think it’s looking a bit better. We can just see the slope of it to the right where that umbrella is. We’ve got this great big cloud sitting over the back over the top. Look. But who knows? It could clear. I know people that have been to Japan, you know, and they come home and they say, “It’s a myth. There’s no such place. I don’t know anybody that’s ever seen it.” I have. I stood right here in this exact spot and got a beautiful photo. I think maybe 2019 or 2018. That was springtime. Yeah. Oh. So, we get onto a bit of a boardwalk here, which is quite nice. These are a beautiful color. I don’t know. We call these red hot pokers, but I don’t know what they are really. Follow the boardwalk. So, after this, I’m going to the Kimono Museum. The Kubota Kimono Museum. Looks gorgeous, doesn’t it? With the hills and sort of the um the buildings all have a what’s sort of like a resort feel to them, a mountain feel. You can get sunburnt in Japan, but it’s different from our sort of sunburn. I think I’ve picked up a bit of color on my arms, but I tend to wear long sleeves most of the time. Um, it’s a different sort of sun. It doesn’t It’s not intense like ours. It’s just hot. It’s just extremely hot and you can’t escape it. You know, we can go and stand under a tree and you immediately feel cooler. Not here. It’s the same temperature. Um, day and night, shade and sun. Yeah, but you can see the gorgeous garden coming up. Um, and this is when it starts to get busy. I last year when I was here, I went to Yugawara, which is on the Isu Peninsula, I think, and Black Sand Beach just like Piha. Boy, was that sand hot. It was a fabulous surf beach. Had a good swim. It was lovely. It was beautiful. Now we’re coming into the gorgeous garden area. Look. So, the lavender is in full bloom. I’m going to try and choose. Look at it. Amazing. Look. I’ll try and this path looks a little bit quieter until we get to there. Yeah, we’ll we’ll do our best with the crowds. Do our best with the crowds because this is a popular viewing spot for Fujian and the big two of uses come in here of course. So maybe I’ll just I want you to get used to those smoke trees. Let’s just do a little bit of a detour here. Hey, but thanks for joining me everybody.
I was hoping we’d get a clear view of Fujian, but I actually when I checked the weather, this looked the best day, the best possible day for doing doing some Fuji viewing. It’s beautiful, isn’t it? Really, really gorgeous. The colors. This is an unusual type of lavender. I think it’s very very fine, very very small flowers. This is the Kaguchi Co. Urban Resort Villa here. Nice. Oh, yes. I’m also planning to go there, Kathy. I have been before. Um, yeah, I have been there before. So, and and the kimono museum that they’re they’re my two other things that I want to do today. I’m sort of planning I come up to here on special request. So, I’m thinking about how to add it into the itinerary or do I leave it as a um an option? Just wanted to see how our day would work. Yeah, you’ve heard about it, Kathy. Yeah, it’s gorgeous. Yeah, really interesting. But it’s a few years since I’ve been Oh, well, no. I came up here last year, but it was raining. So, we didn’t do much. We just came here, had a walk in the park, and then we went back to Tokyo and did the immersive art. Not much fun doing stuff in the rain really. Yeah, I’ll take some photos. I think um I know the Kimono Museum, not even sure you’re allowed to take photos. This is okay because it’s outdoors, but the others and it’s free when it’s a paid um exhibition or a paid gallery or whatever, they often don’t like videos. Yeah, Hakone. Yeah, you can get good views, but Hakone is a little bit the same, too. It’s all very weather dependent. I love Hakone. Of course, that’s a different lake. Yeah, you’ve got to got to be able to be flexible, I think. Got to be flex. Isn’t that fabulous? I’ll zoom in because so you can see the purple. Are they un Look at that. Amazing. I think they might I’m not sure what that Yeah, on Lake Hakone you can do those big boat trips, but the Hakone area itself is really fabulous. But I heard it’s got really really busy. In fact, another good good spot is from the Shinkansen between if you’re traveling between Osaka and Tokyo. You can get a really really good spot as it goes past Fuji. I’m smelling the roses. You check out Lake Hakone. There’s a fabulous open outdoor open museum there. What’s happening? Ah, I think the cloud got bigger. cannot it’s block. And remember Yuka on Periscope used to show us beautiful views of um Fujisan from the beach in Shuzawa. Yeah, there’s lots of good places you can go. Monandanda Fitzuliosa. No, it’s not the Narakuba Army. It’s just called the Hakone Open Air Museum. And it’s got it’s got a Picasso um exhibition hall. It’s got amazing big outdoor spaces. So, we’re getting near the shop and the ice creams and everything. You loved your scopes, Yuka. Yes. But we’re going to I want to get you down a little bit over there. So, which is the best way to do that? I think we just keep going. Look at the green leaves. But the all elusive Fujian, it all depends on the weather. It doesn’t matter where you go. Oh, I need to put that umbrella somewhere else. I wonder if I can borrow it and put it in the middle of some of the flowers would be gorgeous. Funny how it just that big plop of color is looks fabulous. So look all all the people here Oh, you found it on Google Maps. And yes, there’s other um
I’ll need to think about it, Kathy, because I’ve have spent, you know, been to Hakone a few times. Um there’s the is it the Polo Art Museum is really really good there as well. Yeah, I need to I just need to I can get back to you on um more stuff and then if you keep going to Gora, you go to Gora. Yes, that’s right. Yeah, that’s right. Go to Gora. Gora is like really interesting little end of the line. You can get a nice ice cream and have a little walk around there as well. Let me get back to you on Hakone. All the things that I’ve done there. That’s right. Yeah, Venetian glass. That’s the other one. I haven’t done that one, but that’s there. And fabulous places to eat. Easy to get to Hakone. Lots of trains going up. Isn’t this pretty? Whoa, look. Fuji. Now, if Fujian was doing its thing, that would be gorgeous. Look. thing is the Paulo Art Museum and there’s another one I went to last time which was really cool. You’re into eating. We all are. We all are. I’ve been I’ve had some fabulous. I need to sort of maybe try and cut back a little bit. Hey Dez, it’s been ages. I was just thinking about you the other day and I thought, where’s Dez? Where’s Dez? It’s a type of hydranger. Wow. Annabelle hydrangeanger something Annabelle. That’s it. How lovely. Really pretty. Whoa, there’s lots of bees near me. Lots and lots of bees. Oh, everybody’s walking past with those fanny jackets on. Look. Yeah, it de Fujisan. Everybody came to see Fujisan. It’s actually hiding. We’ve got this big cloud. It’s changed shape a bit. Um, we’ve got a big cloud. We can see the slopes. Of course, climbing Mount Fuji has just opened. Um, they’ve installed a gate now to prevent people I think they do doom hiking or something they call. Um, people just tearing up there at all hours of the night to catch the sunrise. So, they’ve put a gate in to stop people going. And they’re actually stopping people to make sure they have proper attire. People try and walk up in sandals when you need hiking boots. People walking up in light clothing. It’ll get cold up there. Oh, no. A Milo, I hope you’re happy in Cat Heaven. Yep, she’s busy. Look, it’s gorgeous here, Dez. Even though it’s um we can’t really see much of Fujian, just the base. That’s a typical Fujian view. I would say, but the garden’s gorgeous. So, I’m hoping there’s a cafe at the Kabotto um art museum. Just waiting for this guy to take his photo. 17 days. Oh, yes. Loving the flowers. Yeah, they’re gorgeous. And the trees. push on a little bit. In fact, I am going to be able to get you a view of Fujian as we finish. So, look at all the people. This is it’s so busy. But the countryside around the mountains are gorgeous. Yeah, I’ve been really good. Dez, I’ve been here since the end of May. So, I’ve been here a month and I’ll be here until uh when am I? I leave on the 9th of August. I’m off to Vancouver for four nights and then I’m going to be in Seattle for four nights. I know it’s a long way from you, but you never know. Yeah, putting a little friend to sleep is always difficult. Let’s spoil a shot with all the crowds. Isn’t the lavender gorgeous, though? It’s the first thing I smelt when I walked in here. But yeah, we understand. We understand. And we all have to do it at some time. We always say it’s for their best. As if that is a good excuse. Or a sunflower. [Music] Still ever hopeful. But we’re going to get it. We’re going to get a Fuji sound in a moment. Bees everywhere. Back to the lavender. Time here is The Time is Oh, it’s 1:20 p.m. Wow. I better get a move on. I better get a move on. Let’s get over here to Fujisan. So, a lot of people go down there for the view, of course. Yeah. It’s 1:20 p.m., so it’s time for coffee and something to eat, that’s for sure. Yeah. I was surprised there were so many people here. I will maybe go this way. Yeah. 1:20 p.m. Friday. 6 hours ahead of you, Colleen. Yeah. And it’s happy 4th of July in the United States of America, isn’t it? Oh, no. Today for us, it’s the 4th of July. And you’re not quite there yet. Look, it’s just gorgeous. Look. Today’s Independence Day. Okay. Okay, here we coming up. This is going to be our only So, there’s We’ve got Fujisan through there. And right here as well. Oh, but look at the liies. Wow. Look at these. Wow. Amazing. Oh, the smell, the scent is gorgeous. That one’s looking straight at us. Beautiful. So, Fujisam there. And as I turn around, we’ve got another Fujisan here. So, it’s got lots of numbers. People have obviously bought, I don’t know, donated whatever. I’m just guessing because the numbers are all have something written here as well. Hey Viking, we are doing good. We’re doing good. We’re at um Lake Kawaguchiko and we are looking for Fujian. This is the only one we could find because when we look back in this direction, we can see the base, but it’s all cloudy today. In fact, the clouds have changed quite a bit from when we started. Uh what’s going to happen, we don’t know. I should have come up early this morning. Yeah. Interesting. Anyway, kids, I’m going to turn the camera. Hey, thanks for joining. That was awesome. Had a lovely walk with you all. Hope you enjoyed it. I’m going to jump on that bus now and head back to the I think it’s the Kimono Museum comes first and then the music and then back to Tokyo a little bit later. Hey, take care everybody. What can we finish with? probably probably just looking at Fujisan even though it’s not the real deal. Take care everybody. Have a beautiful Friday. Happy 4th of July. Happy Independence Day. We’ll see you all a little bit later. Take care. Oh, thanks Kathy. Thanks Lisa. Thanks everybody. Dez, thank you so much. Thank you. Yes, with my new hat on. Take care. We’ll see you all later.
