What is Awamori?

i didn’t like Awami before but after visiting this place in Naha I’m now a total fan this small restaurant is called Yamorei and they serve creative Okinawan dishes paired with hundreds of different aamorei we let the owner choose our pairings and wow the first aamorei was light smooth and so easy to drink we had it with Shimarako tempura that’s Okino and shallots then came preserved winter melon the island carrot salad was full of unexpected textures and flavors we even had sushi with alamorei and ended with a chef’s specialty stewed pork belly paired with aged alamorei straight up I’m officially converted fan of the food fan of the alammori and fan of yamorei

I never used to like Awamori… until I came here.
Yamori in Naha changed everything for me.

This cozy little spot pairs creative Okinawan dishes with hundreds of different Awamori. The chef is also a certified Awamori expert — so we left the pairings up to him.

We started with a smooth, light Awamori and paired it with shima rakkyo tempura (Okinawan shallots). Then preserved winter melon, island carrot salad, sushi, and finally, tender stewed pork belly with aged Awamori.

Every pairing was intentional — and delicious.
Highly recommend this place if you want to experience real Okinawan food and discover Awamori in a whole new way.
