On the centenary of Italo Calvino’s birth, Iseas (Italian School of East Asian Studies) intends to make a contribution to the knowledge of the relationship the writer had with the culture of Japan. The choice of the Iseas venue, located in Kyoto, a city where Calvino stayed and which inspired him to write some memorable writings, holds special symbolic significance.

The workshop will be held on Wednesday, July 9, from 4:30 p.m.; it will open with institutional greetings by Gianluigi Benedetti, Ambassador of Italy to Japan; Andrea Raos, Director of the Italian Cultural Institute in Osaka; and Andrea De Antoni, Iseas scientific coordinator in Kyoto. The event is organized by the Italian Cultural Institutes of Tokyo and Osaka.
