oh my gosh look at this i didn’t think I was going to like it to be honest with you

all right everybody we’ve arrived for our first stop here on our tour today we are in Kyoto but not Kyoto proper like we’re not in the city center here so um we’re going to be exploring I believe a Buddhist temple today but we’re going to go inside our guide is going to get us some tickets and then we’re going to be able to walk around for about an hour and then we’re going to get back on the bus and go to this place because I can’t pronounce it so let’s go have some fun oh wow
it’s like right on the water too together what you want
oh I mean if you want to take on that that’d be great yeah just single
it’s all getting pushed in
which one are you this is definitely the busiest place that we’ve been to yet onions versus reality
on the trip yeah it’s crazy [Music] that’s awesome [Music] [Music] oh look at this you can buy some saki here huh it is busy i’ve definitely enjoyed the smaller places we’ve been going
yes I agree i think there’s like a couple more things down here if you want to look
yeah we can go take a look why not should we try the ice cream once we got some time so they’ve got this premium sweetaki soft serve ice cream honey and ginger it’s non-alcoholic but maybe we’ll try that it sounds pretty good got it
oh it’s interesting wow
so here at the end of our little walk we found some ice cream that seems to be a common theme around here this is green tea so there is like a powder on the top of it and there is some gold flexcks on there as well the powder I think is just green tea which uh is a little odd but the flavor of the actual ice cream very good
yeah very like refreshing mine is like vanilla saki uh with like some honey in there as well
and ginger and ginger that’s right that’s what I’m tasting so there’s no actual like alcohol in it it’s non-alcoholic but it is really good i’m digging that ginger it’s actually reminding me very much now of the dried ginger that we had the candied ginger
ah
and Busousan it’s a bit spicy but it’s good do I have grand powder on my nose
yep a man I went to like lick it and I felt it bump so 220 at the bus correct

all right we left everybody behind at the bus so well they’re just not going to walk quickly or as fast as we will so uh we’re going to try and get to the bamboo forest it’s like the furthest place to get to here we’re going to kind of make our way out and then make our way all the way back stopping along the way on the way back so that’s why we’re kind of on the hustle this is wild oh my gosh this guy’s pulling us by himself where we’re going wow this is insane we just came into the bamboo forest in here and it’s amazing because the temperature just dropped significantly as we came in [Music] i’m just shook this is really cool i thought it was going to be like just like one little strip of walkway not like a lot of walkway now obviously it’s super busy and something I was thinking about walking through here is that if you really want to see stuff in Kyoto you need to stay here and you need to be willing to get up like super early in the morning and stay out super late at night that way you have plenty of time to see everything but this is really cool i just fig we might just take a look and see it’s only like 500 yen looks like you can go left or right well we didn’t really have any agenda here we got to see the bamboo forest so we thought we’d come down here and check out this garden it’s a really beautiful place though it’s a UNESCO World Heritage site

we can’t go into the the temple but we can walk through the gardens here
and the gardens are beautiful i mean all there’s so many different flowers here
yeah yeah I think that’s what makes us even better is that like with all the trees in blossom [Music] i’m obsessed my new favorite tree the weeping cherry i love a willow tree i love the sakura it’s weeping cherry i mean it was made for me I think vegas so our tickets to uh tour the temple there were 500 a piece or $1,000 or 1,000 yen for the two of us which comes out to about $6.80 so you know just over three bucks for Taylor and I each to go in and walk around in there which is really nice i I I love that a lot of these places that are like historical UNESCO sites you know it’s a small fee but it’s not outrageous like some places are where it’s you know 20 or $30 so it’s really kind of cool makes it accessible for for everyone i think this is the main street looks like it had hair pins did you see them
they’re made here in Japan 35 something yeah thank you

okay so I don’t know whether or not lunch was actually included today or not

no but they had some place that they were going to take people to if they wanted to go eat
we kind of veered off from the group for obvious reasons we wanted to be able to do our own thing on our own time

so we found this little place just while we’re walking down the street um you or you can order it on iPad for snacks but they also have I think like full meals that you can order and I’ll be honest that I really don’t know what we’ve got here i can read this stuff which is um a wagu sushi uh an egg yolk and a grilled miso marinated salmon sushi
it’s basically seaweed rice and then whatever the topping is with it
exactly these we got like the trio of the three most popular items and then these we ordered extra josh also ordered a um I’m not sure some kind of cola it said h
Are you going to drink it all or
I’m just really surprised at the taste i wasn’t sure I was going to like it [Music] it’s like apple cider

mhm that’s what I was getting some ginger yeah and I think like club soda they’ve got like a little carbonation but
it’s actually pretty good
it is pretty good uh I’m starving so I’m not going to wait any longer aren’t you it’s really good i tried to bite the stick

it is really good i wish I could describe to you
the ingredients that were in it um
some kind of vinegar soy sauce
over the top yeah
but other than that I mean it still was really good kyoza something which I think just means Is that just the the way it’s prepared

it’s kind of like a dumpling but different okay so Taylor maybe not order more because we might go somewhere else i don’t think we are it’s just so busy and crowded here i love this place cuz it was so easy just to come in and order something and get out of the way

i want to try next one [Music] you’re going to like this one that one had the Wagyu beef this is a salmon i think that one’s really good too [Music] egg yolk now these are warm this is not cold very interesting i’m afraid to set it down i’m afraid it’s going to run all out but you need to try it too these are all very good um obviously you have like the rice and seaweed flavor in all of those but they’re all very unique with the rest of the tastes this is a good little stuff it’s very good oh my gosh look at this [Music] i didn’t think I was going to like it to be honest with you

we spent some money today this is uh probably the first time that we’ve ever actually spent like this much I feel like
on a trip definitely and

that’s fine so we’ve
we can slow down
we’re trying to not spend too much more money because we still have several more stops along the way
we still have Tokyo Disney at the end of the trip
we won’t need cash for that
one thing that we really want to get is like a
I don’t know if you can call like a traditional tea set we really want to get a teapot and I would love to have a complete tea set we’re going to cross the road here
we have to be back at the bus by

20 so we still have lots of time but yeah I mean we just we got another chopstick rest we got some stickers we bought t-shirts we got

and we got two I thought they were like bamboo bowls but they must be like ceramic but they’re hand painted
yes and they’re from two places that we’ve been on this trip like the paintings are
right which is why we got them because they’re like a little bit more significant we can recognize exactly where they’re from
by the paintings right here
so but we’re out here on this bridge we’re going to grab some photos cuz you can see the secur the the sakura flowers or the trees everywhere so [Music] well we’ve made our way up to Skywalker Lounge here and uh because I have elite status for the sailing basically Skywalkers has kind of turned into like a little lounge hangout place with some ordurves drinks obviously which are already included if you have a packet it’s kind of nice it’s just a cool place to come up and relax and some different like little finger foods that you can eat and enjoy so there was uh I got a some shrimp up there i’ve got a little fruit salad there were some dumplings some cheeses so it’s just kind of nice uh so we’re just hanging out and relaxing oh yeah apparently they had sushi the first day that they did it um we didn’t know about it to begin with so um but yeah but still it’s kind of nice to be able to just come up and relax hang out so we also discovered while we’ve been up here that they have a specific drink menu as well not that you can’t get like normal things like a margarita or an oldfashioned or something like that but um something that’s a little bit more specific during the elite members lounge time which is what’s going on right now so I got a what I would call a Raz Raz duck if we were at Disney Springs that’s exactly what color it is
but they call it a blue a deep deep sea or deep blue or something like that so all it’s missing is a little floating duck but it’s pretty much the same cocktail it’s been a long time but we’re doing exciting review

In today’s Japan cruise vlog, we docked in Maizuru and made our way into the heart of Kyoto—and wow, what a day! First stop: the breathtaking Golden Pavilion (Kinkaku-ji). This shimmering Zen temple, wrapped in gold leaf and reflected in a peaceful pond, was even more stunning in person. It left us absolutely speechless.

But the day didn’t end there.

Next, we headed to the legendary Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, and it truly felt like stepping into another world. Towering stalks of bamboo swayed above us as we walked the quiet path—it was peaceful, surreal, and something we’ll never forget.
