TOKYO — A village in central Japan famous for its ski resorts logged a 32.4% spike in roadside land prices, according to official data out Tuesday, making the town home to the largest such year-on-year increase nationwide for the second straight year.
The Hakuba Iwatake Mountain Resort, in the Nagano prefecture village of Hakuba, bustled with tourists on a late-June weekend. One of the most popular attractions drawing a line of visitors was a set of swings facing the Hida Alps mountain range.
