I'm interested in getting a novelty plate made now that I've got the JDM badge installed on my Mazda, and have everything squared away apart from the 3-digit vehicle code. I know it's a 3XX number, but how are the last two digits set up? Looking up images of the JDM Premacy I'm seeing 300, 301, 302, 303, and 330.

Lots of searching is turning up no reference other than the 300 series designation- is there some sort of table or lookup reference for these?

I’d get those rusty wheel arches looked at, then it needs the rear bumper sorting out.

  2. One of my cars is a 300 plate and the other 2 are 301 plates.

Japanese plates are only 4 digits and the plates are assigned per city.. so once a city has no more numbers, they will go on to the next series in the last 2 digits of the plate category (3xx in this case).

I believe most cities will go 300, 310, 320 etc before going to 301 or whatever. Mine is 301 because of a different reason but I’ll leave it at that to keep it simple.

Kei cars typically have 58x pilates or yellow plates… Pretty sure most yellow plates are all used so they started doing 58x plates for kei cars. 500 (5xx) plates are for privately owned vehicles that are under 2.5L and/or under a certain weight limit. 300 (3xx) plates are for privately owned vehicles that are over 2.5L or over a certain weight.

There are other plate categories for commercial vehicles, taxis, etc but the above covers most of it.

    upvote for mazda 5

Anyways, it should be a 300 series classification because it has a 2.3L engine.
