Hokkaido Motorcycle Tour – Day 1 | GB350 Adventure

 Hi everyone. Starting today,
I’m going on a motorcycle tour
around Hokkaido. I’ll be riding through stunning landscapes,
 staying mostly at campsites,
and sharing the journey with you as I go. My starting point is right here
 — Kikonai Station. Let’s go! This is Kijihiki Highlands. Yeah! Before I hit the road,
here’s why I’m doing this. What inspired you to take
 on this motorcycle tour
around Hokkaido? Hokkaido is full of incredible nature,
and for a long time, I’ve dreamed of traveling
around it by motorcycle. Finally, I’m making that dream come true. Wow, it’s a slope! I’m worried
the stuff on the back of my bike might fall. Thinking ahead about this adventure… What kind of places are you
most excited to visit during your trip? I’m especially excited to visit places like
Shiretoko and the Kushiro Marshlands. These are some of the most untouched
and wild areas in Japan. Every adventure comes
with uncertainties. Are there any challenges or worries
you have before starting the tour? The first thing I want to be careful about
is traffic accidents. Safety comes first. Then there’s my back— I’ve had chronic lower back pain, so I’m a bit worried about
how it will hold up on a long ride. And finally… bears. Since I’ll be camping in remote areas,
the thought of encountering a brown bear is
honestly terrifying. Every adventure starts with preparation. How did you prepare for this trip
in terms of gear and planning? I’ve gone camping before
with school or family, but this will be my first time planning
and doing everything by myself. I bought all my gear from scratch and
spent a lot of time researching campsites
across Hokkaido. Every journey is also an inner journey. What do you hope to discover
or feel during your solo journey? More than anything, I want to feel Hokkaido
with my whole body and soul. It’s been a long-time dream of mine to ride
all the way around before I die— so honestly, I’m super excited. And so the journey begins. Day One: On the Road My luggage is heavy,
so it’s hard to turn today. So I have to be careful! You might be wondering about costs. Will you be keeping track of
your travel expenses during the trip? Yes, I plan to show how much I spend
each time I make a purchase. Hopefully, it’ll be useful
for others planning a similar trip. And what about where I’ll be staying? Where will you be staying each night?
Do you have accommodations planned? My main plan is to camp as much as possible. But if it rains or I get too tired, I might stay in a hotel or a bungalow
from time to time. As for meals… Will you be cooking your own meals
while traveling? I’m not bringing any cooking gear, so I’ll mostly be eating takeout food
 or things I buy
at supermarkets and convenience stores. And finally, how long will this take? How long is your Hokkaido tour
going to be? I’m aiming for about two weeks, but I haven’t decided anything in advance. I want to stay flexible depending on
the weather and how I feel. Back to the road. Beware of bears! It’s scary! Oh, this is a campsite. Oh, that is a gate! OK, it’s open. Now it’s 8:58. It opens at 8:30. Wow, the view is amazing! You might hear something unusual. This road has its own melody. Listen carefully. Was that a melody road? I couldn’t hear the music. Replay Did you notice? Indeed, the road was singing. Awesome! Wow, you can see
Mt. Komagatake and Onuma over there. Wow, the view is breathtaking! Awesome! Wow, there are horses over there. Can you see them? I bought this book. Wow, this is Shirotai Skyline! Time to let the road speak. Song: Let it roll

Lyrics: Finn Hollow Do you remember the thrill When we were kids, riding our bikes To a town we’d never seen Crossing the river, under the bridge It felt like a land untouched A world unknown wrapped around me Let it roll Let it roll Let it roll The wind decides where I’ll go Now the bike has changed its form Wheels bigger, engine strong But that childhood rush remains Heading into the unknown That’s all the drive I ever need Let it roll Let it roll Let it roll Seagull asked me “Where are you flying today?” I smiled and said “I haven’t decided yet.” He laughed and cried “Me neither, friend!” I said “The wind will guide us on.” He said “We’re the same, you and I.” Let it roll Let it roll Let it roll No matter where this road may lead All I need is the ride Chasing dreams, chasing freedom Riding wild with open eyes Let it roll Let it roll Let it roll Chasing that endless horizon Wheels spinning, spirits high Let it roll Let it roll Let it roll Made it to the campsite for the night. Day one comes to a close. Stay tuned for day two.
