osaka & kyoto vlog | day trip itinerary, cafes, where to shop, restaurants & more!
[Music] what’s up homies it’s your home girl and welcome to today’s part one vlog of my Osaka Kyoto and Nada trip that I took with my mom and my sister back in April it was just like a whole lot of footage i think it was like a thousand files and I was like “Okay yeah we’re not doing that.” So anyways it’s going to be in two parts so yeah let’s get started today we are off to Japan my happy place all right so first let me start off with the currency exchange every time I go to Japan I always exchange money at the airport i would say like in Korea don’t do that don’t exchange your money at the airport it’s a lot better if you go to the banks to do it they’re going to give you a really good exchange rate and you don’t need an account or anything just your passport is fine so anyways I was like already like “All right well I’m going to go exchange money.” And then you know my sister was like “Wait why are you doing it at the airport like isn’t that bad?” And then she was also saying like “Is Japan really like a cash only place like do you really need cash that badly in Japan?” And the thing is I was like uh you know I was like “Wait do do you need a lot of cash i know you definitely are going to need cash for the trains.” And I know for a while that Japan was very much so like cash only kind of so crazy for a place that seems so advanced technologically so I think Tokyo is actually a lot better with using just card as payment but I do know that you would definitely need cash for trains and I totally forgot that in Osaka cash is king you definitely need cash when traveling to Osaka Kyoto even as well there’s a lot of things where it’s cash only want to like sit down at restaurants some places like if you want to sit down like you need to pay in cash so I basically was like doubting myself and I was like “Wait uh uh” and then with my sister being there I was like “You know what like I don’t know.” Because I wasn’t like 100% sure i was just like “Wait hold on.” I was when I travel I’m just traveling with my mom and I’m the one who takes care of everything but then having my sister there and then she’s telling me this stuff i was like “Wait a minute.” So we only ended up exchanging just a small amount of money let me tell you when we were going to currency exchange places we did not hit a rate as high as we did at the airport so definitely make sure to go ahead and exchange the money in the airport beer would be so ch right now i think these two are the same so not even a full 15 minutes outside of Osaka and then my sister was like I have seen more people with piercings and tattoos in this like one block than I’ve seen in this whole time that I’ve been in Korea and I was like yeah girl and then she also was touching upon their style she’s like “And their style is so much different like I’m seeing a lot of colors so much like variety and everything.” And she’s like “Especially in comparison to Korea.” And she was like “Not to say that in Korea like people don’t dress well people dress well.” Uh in my opinion in Japan you see a lot more people with personal style and there’s also a lot of other subcultures in Japan rather in Korea it’s more so everyone wants to be uniform granted there’s still that same mindset also in Japan but we just see way way way more people actually just like doing their own thing in Korea the number one thing is to be trendy people want to wear what everyone else is wearing while that is not the same thing in Japan and on top of that in Korea definitely neutral colors is like number one thing people are always wearing a very much so neutral palette which to me I’m kind of like you know that’s okay for me because then I get to stand out it’s also nice when I’m in Japan i kind of feel like I’m with my people that also like to express themselves and it feels nice you know but yeah that was something that I was like damn girl like you haven’t even been here like a full day and you were already able to clock that you know what I’m saying you then check costing you $89
no $8,000 let’s say it’s maybe like a a cute $70 wait 70s when is 8,000 means 70 bucks please don’t mind so we’re at J and I’m trying on some jeans and this is actually a size medium for Ju I typically always am a size extra large sometimes large if there is stretch now this does have some stretch I think which is why I can fit into a medium but beforehand definitely no way I would have been able to fit into a medium so that’s a cute little tap hey bang okay so I’m seeing this little lamp that I’m like I feel like this could fit on the shelf the free shelf that I have now that used to have my earrings right so cute oh yeah go this look dirty dirty girl dirty gear there’s cold upgrade girl awkward awkward i didn’t even record the other place we went to because y’all didn’t want to see that
it was stanky
yeah it was so bad but um we’re back at the Reborn Hotel which is the one that my mom and I stayed at the last came to Osaka and this is so so much better
so much better let’s explain what has been happening since we arrived so we arrived yesterday if you’re going to come through Osaka I highly suggest that you have do this QR code visa customs kind of form and I think that’s visit Japan web.com or something like that figure all of that stuff out because when you touch down you’re not going to have really good Wi-Fi and trying to figure that out takes a while anyways once we arrived to our actual Airbnb being that we were coming in on Sunday there were some really cute ones specifically this one that my sister sent me it looked gorgeous had all these rooms blah blah blah blah blah but it wasn’t available for the day that we were coming in and it was available for the next day so we thought like maybe we could stay in one place for one night and then go there for the rest of the time but then we saw this other one that was cheaper and the place looked okay reviews were fine so we’re like why don’t we just go there for the whole time when we arrived at that place already started to look a little like and then once we get inside it just got worse things did not get better girl now mind you the place where we were staying at was closer to like downtown but of course there’s like a little bit of a walk that you have to do anyways we get in does not look cute does not smell nice beds are it was not good at all whatsoever but we were just like “Okay I guess we’ll just have to make do.” Immediately once we just start using the bathroom just the sink was clogged from the get which was like “Okay great.” So we had to put all of our like face wash and everything by the kitchen sink instead place smelled like it was not well ventilated at all whatsoever it just smelled like mildew but we’re like “Okay I guess we’ll just try to make do.” I don’t even know at night time when we were coming back home there’s like two bunk beds and then there’s like a floor cushion that you can use just tell me how we open up the floor cushion and it has mold all over mold all over and we’re just like are you freaking kidding me so my mom had to sleep on the like little sofa bed that they had okay I’ll just sleep on this cuz there was like one side of it that was actually the cushion wasn’t bad so she slept on like that side of the sofa oh that is cute mommy so she slept on that side of the sofa my sister slept on the bottom bunk i slept on the top bunk the bunk beds were like my sister was like this could be the way that I’m going to leave this world the next day she was like “I was hoping like when I wake up like don’t tell me that was it for me.” Like this was the cuz that thing was like rocking back and forth it was not stable whatsoever so but the next day as in today we were like “You know what i think we need to go because not only is there mad mold everywhere not only on the bed there’s also mold in the fridge and if we wanted to keep anything it’s just like moldy all over the sink was still clogged.” We did message the person last night about all these things and they said “Oh we’ll come and fix it tomorrow.” By the time we woke up and started like getting moving and everything it was a little bit later in the morning and the person still didn’t even like messaged us back and I would think that would be like the first thing that you would do to like check in on your guest to be like “Oh my god I’m so sorry these are the times I’m available to come in what time works for you?” or whatever there was none of that we had to get Airbnb customer support and everything like that we ended up immediately just leaving and we booked another place actually the same place that my mom and I stayed in last time we were in Osaka the dates now it’s going to be Monday through Friday now this place is available but for Sunday it wasn’t available so we’re here now luckily Airbnb helped us out so much we told them about everything since my sister just got a rhinoplasty done as well it started to smell like smoke that is something that she should not be inhaling for an extended period amount of time especially as she’s recovering regardless I mean anyone shouldn’t be smelling that anyways overall the state was not cute i don’t think I’ve had like a place where I stay at recently i would say within the past like 3 years maybe that like I absolutely did not like the place but this was the first time it was like just so so bad so I was just like So luckily now we’re here we’re all cool everyone’s taking a shower cuz we literally been in the same clothes since we came in from last night tonight I’m going to have probably some ramen for dinner do a little bit more shopping and then tomorrow we’re going to start tomorrow what the hell are we doing ramen ramen we want to do some late night shopping i don’t know if this is just a coincidence or anything but going to Doniote at night literally everyone and their mom was there my mom and I had gone to that same Doniote in our last trip and I was like we didn’t even see it like nearly as packed as what it was that night it was like everybody everybody every everybody literally everybody was there trying to shop at night and I’m like damn it’s late but everyone was out but what I guess is because during the day everyone’s doing like sightseeing and then at night time you have free time and that’s when they’re going to take that time to go shopping and everything and the last time that my mom and I went to Doniote it was during the day so I think that’s why it was empty but yeah just something to think about if you’re trying to do like a really packed Doniote like trip or anything maybe do it during the day maybe on a very free day that you have so you’re not feeling like oh no I’m not taking this time to go sightseeing because at night time girl it’s going to be packed i was like damn i feel like I couldn’t really even like search you know take my time because there was just so many people everywhere so it’s just something to keep in mind so this is the damage look at this like I barely touched it like look look at this it’s just a little pencil look at this understand another word of advice so this train the Kyo train Gaku is a beautiful train that goes from Osaka to Kyoto there’s no reservation required and you pay just a regular fee which that is amazing now something that I forgot and then remembered once it already happened we had our last like bathroom break my mom and I finished up beforehand i told my mom to go up to the platform whenever we go traveling you know she’s just there for the vibes she’s just My mom is just there we take care of everything else so I just told her “Hey mommy go up to the platform.” She’s already over there waiting my sister gets out of the bathroom then I go with her and we go to the platform now the train is already there so what I forgot is that Japanese trains come early they can depart exactly at their scheduled time it’s not that it’s coming and then that their people are there and then they leave it’s like everyone get inside oh okay we’re leaving at 6:30 6:30 boom we out so yeah yeah this one I forgot so by the time that we actually got on the train all of the really pretty seats were taken because there were like some cars that had like really special seating or some other stuff it’s like beautiful definitely go ahead and check it out unfortunately by the time that we got there all the pretty seats were taken because again nothing is reserved so it’s just more so a first come first serve situation so we just had to sit in like standard seating i mean it was still nice but I mean it would have been so much nicer to you know have that whole experience of riding like a beautiful train yeah my bad my bad my bad i forgot i forgot i could have gone with my mom to the platform and gotten like seats and everything you know what if I had gone inside and then my sister comes out and then she doesn’t know where where anyone is and then she goes into the car then I come out of the car worst thing is is that I’m the only one with data so one of my mom’s life hacks is when you’re feeling with not a lot of energy you hug a tree and you get energy they move your We did our little boat ride now we’re heading over back into the city center to do the rest of the things in Kyoto is that mommy that’s mommy m mame and now me okay so we tried to go to the temple and then there’s also the bamboo forest there but girl we were way too hungry and it’s a really big trail you have to go on so instead we’re going to go eat oh very excited because we haven’t eaten anything it’s already like It’s already like 2:00 so I think you just started recording really
yeah oh I was like “Give me my plate.” It was like it was two together it’s done though we’re done with the tour it was so cool for 3.99 so Namuto Taylor House has become a staple for me a Kyoto staple if you will okay if I’m visiting Kyoto best believe I’m going to check out Namura Taylor House because that’s actually where I found my super cute fabric from last time and I definitely wanted to get myself some more of that fabric but the last time I went there was like what 8 months ago so I was a little bit worried that they were going to have it and I also wanted to see if I can get like some more of like that vintagey fabric that they had from last time but I was like finger crossed please tell me that they do oh I see the print that I got last time it’s still here yeah heat heat heat heat heat nothing off to me no I don’t mind no but it looks cute even though you got that bandage on your head
yeah everybody know
that’s the reality
everybody know everybody know it’s no secret your girl did it she did a big one but I can’t if I could though nope put it back
and the number one up is right behind the camera let’s see if mommy uh sees she wrecking it
yeah yeah yeah let’s see if she’s like “Wait a minute what was that?” Well I have yet to find something secondhand
but I found
Yeah my op my op did i’m I’m going run away if there’s a certain restaurant that you want to go to in Kyoto highly suggest before you go and bookmark all these places on TikTok are like “Okay we’re going to go here we’re going to go here.” Make sure to see if they have a reservation system in place because we were like “Okay we’re going to have this for dinner we’re going to have this for lunch.” D and then there’s a lot of places that were booked just go ahead and save yourself some time check to see if they have a reservation system we are in a book off and I’ve been trying to find Zoro and I can’t there’s Wano Zoro but I don’t know if I want that okay I’m thinking that I should have bought this in in the other book off so that’s the first thing I’m going to do when we get back to so I found a couple one piece shirts this is so sad but I I’m going to just try them on see how they fit how I like them you know what I’m saying this is the only one I kind of like but I kind of like it i’m not like in love with it so we’re It’s going to be a pass all right that is it for part one part two we’re going to head over to Nat and continue our Osaka trip but in N though will we see if my mom is in fact Snow White i mean her name is Blanca and Blanca means white so you know maybe just maybe or will she be terrified of the deer in the haul oh god I’m so excited to show you the haul but anyways that is it for part one i hope you guys enjoyed the video so thank you so much for spending this time with me and I will catch you guys in the next one bye
