How to spend a day in Japans rural North (#007)
to ichiago sandwich good morning from the town of Hiroaki uh I arrived here yesterday and uh besides taking a walk at uh to Hiroaki Castle and doing some stuff on the laptop I didn’t really do anything anymore i was also kind of tired from the travel but now I want to go to uh Castle Hiroaki and check out how it looks on um on daylight actually I could yesterday I could just walk up there there were no guards nothing but unfortunately I did not have my camera with me i did not expect that I can go this far yeah that’s where we’re heading now so when it comes to being xenophobic they see you’re a foreigner they might switch uh switch switch streets uh I also notice they uh put on their masks when they’re next to you and stuff like that but uh it’s mostly from what I saw it’s it’s mostly you know older people i guess maybe they are concerned about their health thinking I’m a I’m a carrier of any diseases or something this could be the case and also you have to take into account the majority of people never left their hometown or left their country you know um what I noticed here in Japan which I also noticed actually in the Philippines is like the people they also do a lot of tourism and uh you know see seeing places also in their home country like for example I’m from Germany it’s it’s really not common at all if people do uh vacations they usually go far away or uh yeah at least uh you know to European neighbors but uh I barely know people who really say hey you know like from from my home uh home country i barely know people who really say “Hey you know what let’s just do a vacation in uh in Germany.” Nobody does that you know oh that’s a very impressive statue right here i think he uh yeah obviously he’s a very important person but uh I don’t know his name well let me let me check it’s a very impressive uh statue right here i don’t know if you can see it with the with the sun properly so this one right here is Lord Tugaru Narinobu um he was the founder so he achieved independence from uh the Nanbuklan which was the uh yeah which was ruling here during the Sangoku period go in any more details because it’s very complicated to read but uh I think that’s good to know that was the the founder of this region so I guess the castle we’re heading now was uh his castle the uh Hiroaki Castle and uh that’s where we’re heading now this was east gate because we’re coming from the east look quite massive yeah there are still some cherry blossoms up top some people use it for making a nice uh picture if you would have told me like five years ago that I will be uh five five years from now on uh I will be uh somewhere in Japan walking to a old samurai or dao castle i would have said you’re insane this park is actually very very nice very very ma well-maintained and yeah man it’s just already like uh you know refreshing and giving you a really good mood because uh you know so many colors um so many flowers and stuff you know so that’s that’s how a day should start there’s sunlight you take a walk in the park park and then you see what the rest of the day going to thing usually this is like a very very famous uh uh picture going to the bridge and seeing the castle up there but unfortunately there’s construction work going on so that’s about it with the Romans uh but anyway it’s still very impressive yeah I I like the the view uh he’s Yeah hi so unfortunately you can see this but here in the far away there’s a huge mountain looks really cool actually you know it still has snow on top uh but unfortunately yeah I don’t think you can see with the camera all right let’s storm the castle and challenge the damo [Applause] I thought you can enter actually or I’m not sure stop keep out i know you can enter actually yeah you can actually go upstairs so the second was actually very steep look at this oh my god guys check out this nice view yeah from this uh viewpoint you have also very nice view of the uh surroundings here in your local area i could see myself already standing here awaiting the rebellion of Rari Kaba uh when my name is Chin Sakai if you know you know so yeah I think I have seen enough here and I will now head back to the hostel i still need to figure out some things and I’ll show you what I will do later maybe I’ll take a day trip to Amori or maybe I go somewhere else or check out something in Hiroaki so earlier I actually got a tip from a local who’s uh working in the hostel I’m staying and she recommended like uh Rainbow Mart it’s called uh Rainbow Martin in uh English and uh yeah it’s a local mart you can try local market can uh like try different foods and stuff and uh that’s where I’m heading right now it will be some time to walk i think I have to walk like 20 minutes into that direction uh but yeah I think it’s worth it’s it’s worth it let’s check it out since uh today in the morning the weather also changed now it’s kind of cloudy and not so sunny anymore but honestly I’m kind of happy about that because otherwise it would be super super hot so yeah that’s good i just hope it does not uh start raining that would be but uh let’s hope for the best look at this cool very old building i really like Wow so we just made it to the market this is it the rainbow market and yeah let’s see what they have for food ah no photo yeah okay i can’t take you with me because No sorry so unfortunately I could not take you guys with me but I was inside and it’s actually a nice local market they have different varieties of food of fish of vegetables of fruits and pastries and I got myself some pastries actually so this is the one i’m not sure what exactly it is but it looks very delicious and I’ll just try so good kind of like salty caramellish [Music] smokei with a strawberry inside let’s try this one as well i love mochi i will definitely like [Music] it so [Music] good i think there’s bean paste sweet bean paste inside so delicious all right let’s go [Music] those pastries were so good actually um but I still haven’t had like meal so usually uh you do it the other way around so you eat first meal and then you have dessert but uh you know sometimes if life gets you uh lemons if life gives you lemons you should make lemons and not uh lemonade or you just should you should just swallow the lemons whatever you know what I mean so yeah I’m actually heading back now um because uh in the area from my hostel there is also a uh like a subba restaurant and I also saw another very delicious shop on the way but uh it’s Karag and I already tried Karag dozens of times so I think I skip this one and go to the Soba place for now I’m just excited to try out new food this is like a noodle soup uh everyone knows ramen but uh they also have soba it’s also uh yeah specific sort of noodles everyone’s eating ramen but actually sobba I think is also very delicious I can bet and uh yeah that’s why I want to try it it’s It’s kind of like a not a secret but uh yeah usually foreigners don’t eat that they rather stick with ramen but I’m willing to try for sure [Music] they even have a church here christian church wow look at this view man yeah you can see the whole mountain from here wow this place behind me actually is abandoned but it looks super big i wonder what it was in this alley i don’t know in general this town is looks a little bit more rund down or worn down uh than I saw so far this is like I think so far the town that looks the most worn out but uh it’s still super clean you know don’t get me wrong it’s still Japan so but still it’s kind of a little bit more worn down than I saw so far either next one or the one after next actually what’s this no dead end nothing to see here okay then let’s walk uh over there there it is this is all what they have oh yeah this looks definitely delicious this is the soba I was mentioning and yeah let’s just try it uh she put aside Oh it’s finally there so [Music] good foreign Oh man that soba was so good really super tasty i uh actually if you ask me ramen or soba I like the noodles of the ramen more but the broth from the broth from the soba was was unmatched man i’m so full now ah I can’t wait to you know get cozy and uh just chill for a bit what I also love about the those restaurants there are always those kind of flags in front of the shops so you always have to instantly bow before you go in otherwise you just walk against a blanket so yeah that’s pretty much it for today actually today was a very I like the day was today was a good day man just waking up in the morning we did quite a lot um we were at the Hiroaki Castle uh then afterwards we went to this uh market unfortunately I could not take the camera with me i would have loved to show this as well because uh yeah it was a very lovely nice market with a lot of uh fancy and tasty things and then we went uh trying out something new so every day trying something new so yeah that’s about it signing off for today tomorrow will be a very very long day because I travel to Yamagata which is uh several hours away by train it will be a long long ride with a train but uh yeah I’m looking forward to go to Yamagata so that’s it for today signing off peace stay tuned
