Naomi Osaka and Coco Gauff are among the WTA stars taking on Wimbledon, which gets underway this week.

Osaka has been drawn to face Talia Gibson in round one of Wimbledon, with WTA number two Gauff taking on Dayana Yastremska.

Andy Roddick has predicted an early Wimbledon exit for Gauff, who enters the tournament on the back of French Open success.

She defeated world number one Aryna Sabalenka in the Roland Garros final earlier this month, although followed that up with an opening match defeat in Berlin.

Osaka lost in the French Open first round, and also lost her opener in Berlin before a round of 16 exit at the Bad Homburg Open.

The former world number one has now moved on to Wimbledon, where she discussed Gauff’s French Open success in her opening press conference.

Osaka commented: “Oh, I mean, for me, I’m super proud of her. I remember I hit with her when she was quite young, but she’s still young.

“But it was back when Key Biscayne was like in Key Biscayne, or Miami Open was in Key Biscayne, so that should tell you how young she was.

“But yeah, it’s really cool, I would say, to see how much she’s grown and it also, I guess, reminds me how much athletes can inspire people.

“And she inspires me a lot, and I hope that one day I can play as well on clay as she does, and I think it’s really, really incredible how far she’s come from what I first saw her.”

Gauff has indeed achieved huge success in her relatively brief career so far, with the 21-year-old now a two-time Grand Slam champion.

The American boasts 10 career titles in total, and is currently behind only Sabalenka in the WTA Tour rankings.

But Osaka ought to remember the stunning success she once achieved, which includes climbing to the top of the world rankings.

Furthermore, the 27-year-old is a seven-time WTA champion, with four of those titles involving Grand Slam success.

Currently ranked 53rd in the world, Osaka has played in four Grand Slam finals throughout her career so far, and has won all four.

And Osaka has met Gauff five times on the WTA Tour, with the latter posting three wins compared to two from the former.
